When adding components to a project you are usually allowed to space bar through different orientations of the piece. What I did not find (in R27) is keyboard short cut to flip to the next possible type or the previous type. You always need to move your mouse pointer to the property window and select a different type there. The idea is to change that. Holding down Ctrl or Alt might do the trick. Does that not change copy or not when rotating things?

If you duplicate a group or family or... like "KK04" Revit creates a duplicatie named "KK04 2". It would be very helpfull if the duplicate would autonumber up to "KK05"

Revit currently only allows copy and paste between projects open in the same session. This makes it difficult to transfer elements when working with multiple Revit windows or versions. Other design software supports clipboard operations across sessions, and adding this to Revit would: Improve productivity for users working on several projects at once Remove the need for time-consuming workarounds like exporting groups or linking files Make Revit more consistent with user expectations from other design tools Please consider enabling copy/paste between separate Revit sessions to streamline workflows.

Some parameters, are not shown in Properties Panel even though it is a valid value for the specified element. Ex.: Structural Foundations does not show built in Volume parameter in Properties Panel. So for a rapid value check you need to create a entire schedule, just to see an element Volume value. Structural Columns does not show built in Length parameter in Properties Panel. So for a rapid value check you need again to create a entire schedule, just to see an element Length value. Every existing parameter should be available in Properties Panel, and if there are too much of them, allow user to select which ones will appear.

The purpose of pinning elements, according to the hoverover note, is "Prevent or allow change of element position". I still think I should be able to edit the boundary of a floor event while pinned, for instance in order to add a hole for a cutout. This wouldn't change the element position, just let med control the object geometry in its current place.

Is there a way to batch transfer Revit standards into Revit family templates, including line weights, text styles and labels? Standardising these at template level would significantly improve library management and help ensure new models are built to our standards from the start.

When creating 2D schematic diagrams using detail lines in Revit, there is no efficient way to remove a segment of a line between two intersecting lines. The existing Trim/Extend tools in Revit only allow trimming a line to a boundary, not between two boundaries in a single action. Requested Feature I would like Autodesk to implement a "Trim Between" function for detail lines, equivalent to AutoCAD's Trim command workflow — where you first select cutting edges, then click on the segment you want to remove. This allows you to delete the portion of a line located between two other lines in a single click.

One of the biggest sources of error in BIM is manual type naming. A simple yet powerful improvement would be a native Revit feature that allows users to auto-generate Type Names by concatenating selected parameters. For example, a window type name could be built from: [Width] - [Height] - [Frame Material] → 1200 - 1500 - Alum This would: Reduce manual errors Enforce consistent naming Make schedules and tags more reliable Ideally, the Revit template could select 2–3 parameters in the Family Editor or Type Properties dialog, choose a separator, and have Revit build the name automatically. BIM is only as good as the data we put in — and naming mistakes shouldn't compromise that. Would love to hear if others see value in this or have workarounds without dynamo work arounds.

Managing filters across multiple views and templates in Revit can be time-consuming and error-prone, especially on large projects. Currently, users must manually add and configure each filter for every view or template, which is inefficient and increases the risk of inconsistencies. Proposed Feature: Introduce a "Filter Set" option that allows users to: Create and name a set of filters (a Filter Set) with predefined rules and graphic overrides. Apply the entire Filter Set to any view or view template in a single action. Edit, duplicate, or update Filter Sets, with changes propagating to all views/templates using that set. Easily manage and transfer filter configurations between projects. Example Workflow: Create a new Filter Set and add desired filters with their settings. Assign the Filter Set to one or more views or view templates. When the Filter Set is updated, all assigned views/templates reflect the changes automatically. Benefits: Saves time by reducing repetitive manual filter management. Ensures consistency of filter application across multiple views and templates. Simplifies project setup and maintenance, especially for large teams or complex models.

This is something so simple and that i dont know why it hasnt been done already. A lot of firms work for developers and the way they want the areas is not as simple as just taking the all the interior faces of the wall or just the centerline of the wall. i know when we do projects for certian developers or for certain agencies, they need the centerline of demising walls, outside face of corridor and outside face of sheathing on the exterior wall. instead doing double work using area plans, it would be much easier if it was inherent in the actual wall. for all the haters saying dont be lazy, when you have hundreds of walls and the clients making constant changes and you need to pump out ares for them instantly, going to change 10 floors of areas plans every time is a huge waste of time. please consider this asap.. people who do this type of work would really appreiciate it. its a lot more useful than half the additions you guys are making that no one uses

In our company we use multiple levels in between floor levels. Now it would be really helpful to see the actual height values added to the level in the constraint dropdown. I constantly see colleagues adding the height to the level-tag by hand. So by changing the level height afterwards you are forced to manually change its name again. If you forget to do that, best case it might lead to mild confusion - worst case to planning errors. e.g. how it could look like: on another note: if we could choose whether the dropdown is sorted from lowest to highest or reversed would be a great addition as well. If I missed a similar topic, feel free to link it. A quick search didn't bring anything up.

Currently, there is no possibility to export a Revit project containing mirrored links to IFC. The elements from mirrored links will not be exported. It would be very helpful to export the geometry visible in the 3D view, including elements from mirrored links to IFC.

Give all families the option to be cuttable. It is a bit ridiculous we don't have the option to do this regardless of whether or not you'd normally do it for certain things such as furniture or MEP. My drawings have plumbing fixtures that look out of place compared to the rest of the elements in the section.

Most users that have been using the Stairs tool found it to be the one most horrible tool in Revit. It is totally non-intuitive, non-native English speakers are having troubles with all the parts' names and their dedicated families. You have to open several windows to set various options and sometimes you are wasting a LOT of time just to find the right setting. Autodesk Library contains no Metric Balusters , Posts, Railings, and other profile families for Stairs, which is quite sad situation. I have to change all such families to metric, creating multiple metric types and testing each one of them. Stairs tool should have a tabbed interface, something intuitive like Steel Connections have. And MOST IMPORTANT, the stairs should automatically update/reset when changing the calculating rules. You change the calculation rule, you delete the existing stair and recreate it again just to find out that the new rule still doesn't do the job right . Come on , Autodesk, the preview window should highlight each part , just like the Steel Connections preview does. And final consideration: Stairs are ALWAYS a structural element (load-bearing element). Please create separate commands for Structural Stairs and Architectural Stairs, just like the Walls commands are (WA / WS).

Just like a sweep or rotation element, ceiling should keep their geometry from when editing was initiated. Editing a sketch would be much easier if you did not have to re-draw its square modelled pattern in order to adjust its sketch to fit that pattern. Change that. I would not mind if this happened in a dot version update to r2025.4 where I just stumbled over the situation.

This image says it all. Right now, only the "Free End" option for leaders allows snapping to the endpoints of the leaders. This should also be a default for "Attached End".

I have seen many architectural firms use the curtain wall tool to create wall cladding systems for metal panels and such. This is fits in with the double/split exterior wall modelling method where you create a back-up/base wall (such as steel stud or CIP Concrete) then you create a separate wall assembly for the cladding (from membrane outwards to the finish cladding material). It allows for cleaner connections/joins and more construction accurate modelling. What revit needs is a dedicated wall cladding tool that is based off the curtain wall tool. Give it the ability to control the reveals/panel ends; whether a stacked pattern, running, or random. Have each panel separate parameters that could allow for varying depths on a instance basis (in addition to a type based panel depth). Then what would separate this tool would be the interactions with doors and windows, try to let them interact like they do with a traditional revit wall. Another neat feature that could be useful would be allowing it to be hosted to the backup/insulation wall assembly so that if that moves or is altered it would directly affect the cladding wall. In regard to the reveals/panel joints (and this is something that should be added to the curtain wall tool) would be the ability to add extra grid lines at varying angles and even lengths.
