I always forget what the current WorkPlane is and i model elements 3 stories up or 5 levels down from my current plan view. And of course i can't see them, since the the current Workplane is not my current plan view. It would be so helpful to read the name of the current WorkPlane on the Status Bar !!! And the WorkPlane's name should be green colored while the current Workplane matches the current plan view, yellow if is visible in the current view but id doesn't match the current plan view, and red colored if the WorkPlane is not visible in the current view. Currently, when you isolate an element and apply that to a view, it essentially just hides all other elements in that view. So when something else is added to the model, it then shows in the view where you previously isolated an element. This eats up time re-isolating the element and applying it to the view, and can lead to misprints if it isn't caught and updated.   I'd suggest that once an element is isolated, all elements are automatically hidden in that view, including elements that are placed after the initial isolation.  Show More

Give all families the option to be cuttable. It is a bit ridiculous we don't have the option to do this regardless of whether or not you'd normally do it for certain things such as furniture or MEP.   My drawings have plumbing fixtures that look out of place compared to the rest of the elements in the section. There is great value in extending Revit’s core hierarchy (Category → Family → Type → Instance) into the Right-Click Menu on selection mode — specifically for Selection, Override Graphics in View, and Hide in View commands. Currently, via Right-Click Menu, these commands operate inconsistently and don’t align with Revit’s hierarchy. Some parameters, are not shown in Properties Panel even though it is a valid value for the specified element. Ex.: Structural Foundations does not show built in Volume parameter in Properties Panel. So for a rapid value check you need to create a entire schedule, just to see an element Volume value. Structural Columns does not show built in Length parameter in Properties Panel. So for a rapid value check you need again to create a entire schedule, just to see an element Length value.   Every existing parameter should be available in Properties Panel, and if there are too much of them, allow user to select which ones will appear. Most users that have been using the Stairs tool found it to be the one most horrible tool in Revit. It is totally non-intuitive, non-native English speakers are having troubles with all the parts' names and their dedicated families. You have to open several windows to set various options and sometimes you are wasting a LOT of time just to find the right setting.  Autodesk Library contains no Metric Balusters , Posts, Railings, and other profile families for Stairs, which is quite sad situation. I have to change all such families to metric, creating multiple metric types and testing each one of them. Stairs tool should have a tabbed interface, something intuitive like Steel Connections have. And MOST IMPORTANT, the stairs should automatically update/reset when changing the calculating rules. You change the calculation rule, you delete the existing stair and recreate it again just to find out that the new rule still doesn't do the job right . Come on , Autodesk, the preview window should highlight each part , just like the Steel Connections preview does. And final consideration: Stairs are ALWAYS a structural element (load-bearing element). Please create separate commands for Structural Stairs and Architectural Stairs, just like the Walls commands are (WA / WS). Show More

In Revit, you can change the thickness of element's lines by choosing from a predefined list (1, 2, 3, 4...). For each line weight, you can define what each weight number corresponds to according to the scale. But when choosing colors, you can select between direct colors and predefined and non-customizable color books. My idea is to be able to create a kind of custom color book, just like with line weights works, so you could go to Manage/Additional settings pulldown/Custom Colors And you can create color1, color2, color3... and decide what each one corresponds to. So, if you select color 2 to a line style, a category in VG, etc., later in the project you could change what color 2 corresponds to, and it will change throughout the entire project at once. This way, it would be possible to create your own project color book, maintaining color consistency and allowing you to speed up the workflow when needed. Example: Imagine having to produce all the documentation for a competition and your boss decides that terracotta isn't the exact shade he wanted, and tells you to change it by half a shade. The current View Break (from the Plan Crop Region) is great for showing separated areas (like two distant parts of a plan) on one sheet. But after creating and adjusting the break, we still have to manually draft a break symbol and add text/dimensions to show the true distance between those areas. This is time-consuming and a bit frustrating. Request: When we create a plan View Break, Revit should automatically: Place a standard break/gap symbol at the split. Add an annotation that shows the true physical distance that was “removed,” and keep it updated if the View Break changes. When creating a callout, the callout that is displayed on the parent view has to be the same as what the enlarged view is cropped to. What we are trying to do is have the callout on the parent view follow the walls of the area that is being called out but in the enlarged view have the crop region be a little bit out from the callout to show door swings and things like that. Transparency Settings for Filled Regions Currently, when using detail groups with filled regions across multiple drawings, the transparency settings applied through graphic overrides do not copy over. This creates inconsistency and increases the risk of human error. I know there work arounds like grouping a number of filled regions especially if the have solid coloring then applying transparency to the group. Revealing hidden elements is very useful. It would be even better, if the pink showed whether something is hidden because its category is off or whether it is hidden individually. Hi, When there are schedules placed on Sheets. They don't update automatically on the sheets.    Maybe it would be convinient to have an option/ Button to refresh all schedules that are placed on sheets. When there are a lot of different sheets, we don't have to change the size of every schedule on every sheet so that it updates.   somewhere in the top button or an option with a right click on a placed schedule.   right click on schedule on sheet; - Update this schedule. - Update all placed schedules. Revit currently only has the ability through Options>Graphics to change the color of the background which in a small way allows for reduced eye strain but it leaves the browsers etc in white so it is only a part solution., as Autodesk did very well with AutoCAD. Thanks for consideration Show More
