I' do a lot of coping on steel and wood, and my question:   Why is the cope distance defaulted to 1", and why is there's no way to change it?  (change default from 1" to something else)   Generally, when I use "Cope", wood is always 0" or 1/16",  and steel is almost always 1/2".   I don't know what to do with 1" and it's very old having to change it all the time.    Once a new cope is applied to a member, we have to then navigate to the "Properties" list, and click on "Coping Distance", with a mouse, and then type a new number.   Can't the cope distance be part of the material's default?   In other words, the default should be a parameter nested in the material, and if it doesn't exist, then it can refer to an external default that is able to be something other than 1".  I created a global parameter in attempt to "change the default"  - but I still have to click on the list box in "Properties" under "Cope Distance" to link in the parameter.   Also, it makes it a little more complicated when the "Cope Distance" only exists when you apply a cope.    There's no good work-around here.   - (ERP-#1) Eliminate Redundancy Project. There is a major need to give greater control over the stairs in Revit similar to how they work in advanced Steel. In the Industrial market stairs are critical to gaining access to different pieces of equipment in areas where space is very limited. It is very difficult to cripple the stringers and place the grating at the top of the stair in a correct location. We pretty much have given up making these look as they will after fabrication and use them as a location designator only. We don't need the ability to detail the stairs but they should at the very least take up the exact space the fabricated stair will after installation so we can ensure there are no clashes with other equipment, piping, HVAC, etc... Advanced Steel does a much better job modeling stairs. It should be very easy to capture that code and port it over to Revit. Show More

In the Industrial market handrail and guardrail are critical to spacing and post location. Often we have to block rails for piping, HVAC, equipment, etc..  It is very difficult to manage this the eay Revit currently models handrails and guardrails. We pretty much have given up making these look as they will after fabrication and use them as a location designator only. We don't need the ability to detail the handrails and guardrails but we should at the very least be able to locate, notch, offset, and place the posts in exact locations to clear obstructions in our environment.  These changes would allow us to ensure there are no clashes with other equipment, piping, HVAC, etc... Please improve Advance Steel to Revit export. I need to Get Assembly Marks in order to make General arrangement drawings, BUT many structural connections modelled in Revit fail, framing dublicates occur etc. I think this function is very raw yet.  Usually I model all steel details in Revit before, then export to Advance Steel to do Production drawings. Then I need to export back to Revit to make General arrangement drawings with correct Assembly Marks. I can make plans in Advance Steel as well, but as it is already done in Revit, why should I do double work. OR make it possible to do Production drawings / Assemblies in Revit, that is even better I think, than to export to other software and back. Please, activate ASSEMBLY function for Steel Fabrication elements (framing, plates, bolts) at least. Show More

There is a major need to give greater control over the steel connections in Revit similar to how they work in advanced Steel. In the Industrial market connections are critical to conveying to fabricators and construction the connection requirements we need detailed, fabricated and installed. It is very difficult to find and customize the current steel connections in Revit. Autodesk should port over all the connections used in Advanced Steel and make them available to Revit Structure users. Often times we have to go to the Detail Views to properly annotate our connection requirements to ensure they are accurate and correct geometrically.  Advanced Steel does a much better job modeling steel connection. Add or improve connections for double profiles, whether it's double angle, double PTR, double CF, or CE. Currently, there are no families for these, and while creating them is not an issue, the problem arises when trying to establish connections with RVT later on. Show More

The ability to create groups of Steel Columns, Beams & Connectors. In a given design you are likely to use a group of elements repetitively at various points. Revit doesn't seem to allow you to group these common elements(within a design). I assume it has something to do with how the whole connector element works and not the actual Beams & Columns Show More

the steel connection should include connection to precast wall. adding embeds when steel connecting to precast. this could integrate with precast connection configuration. rule based connection automation could save lot of times. Show More

Hello Autodesk,   For the future integration of NC functionalities for steel construction, it would be important that the signature settings of the parts for plates and beams are possible independently of each other. The machines for plate processing and beam processing often have different options and requirements. The NC data would then be better adapted to the respective machine. In Advance Steel, the signature settings, especially the arrangement of the signature on the plate/beam, were previously regulated with common settings.
