When we open a Revit model using the standard File > Open dialog, the preview panel shows the Revit version in which the file was last saved. This is extremely helpful when working with multiple projects and different Revit releases, because we can immediately see whether the selected RVT file matches our current Revit version. However, when we use Insert > Link Revit and select an RVT file, the same preview panel does not display the file’s save version. Only the thumbnail of the model is shown. In many BIM workflows (multi-discipline teams, consultants, external links), we often need to check: Which Revit version was the link file last saved in Whether linking this file will trigger an upgrade Whether we should ask the consultant to send a model in another version Currently, to see the saved version, we have to either: Open the file directly first (which may upgrade it unintentionally), or Use external tools just to check the RVT version. --Proposed improvement Please add the “Saved in Revit Version” info to the preview panel of the Import/Link RVT dialog, similar to the standard Open dialog. For example: Under the thumbnail, show a line such as: Saved in: Revit 2023 or Saved in: Revit 2024.2 ** Benefits Faster decision-making when linking consultant models Avoid unwanted file upgrades during linking Clearer coordination in multi-version / multi-project environments Consistent UX between Open and Link Revit dialogs This is a small UI enhancement, but it would save time and prevent mistakes for many BIM coordinators and Revit users working with multiple versions every day. Thank you for considering this improvement.
