Change view associated with Level

In section or elevation views there is a link on your level bubbles that takes you to the associated floor plan.  It does not appear that you can change which view it is linked to.  It would be super nice if you could control what view is set as the default for that link.  This is an issue if you have duplicated the original view many times and that original view is not used on a sheet.  When you print a PDF set, the hyperlink generated from your levels will not work.

As long as the you can only set it to plan views of that associated level I have no issues with this.

It would also be helpful if it only listed the views of the same discipline as well, so you can only have a level in an architectural section linked to an architectural floor plan.

It would be interesting if it could be set by view instead of the level.

Maybe in the View properties you could set what view type the visible levels link to.

So in a building section you could have them link to floor plans but in an interior elevation it could be linked to block plans or room plans.

It appears to be based on lowest element ID (creation order). If the referenced view is deleted, it just moves to the next oldest view.

Considering that the Associated Level of a view is a bound value, it seems reasonable to be able to select the preferred choice out of a list of correct options.

What would you do for a multidiscipline project though? The ability to go to the view using the Level is based on clicking the Level element. It's not a view-specific behavior, so you'd only get one option per level for the entire project with the current setup.

I think the ability to pick which view is linked would be a good starting point.  If there were a way to make it view specific to allow for multi-discipline models, that would also be nice.

If they do this it would definitely be nice if it could be view specific or at least overridden in a view.

This way we could have the following:

  • Overall building sections/elevations linked to overall plans
  • Building sections/elevations that are part of specific scope boxes/building blocks/wings linked to the associated cropped/block/wing plans
  • Demolition sections/elevations linked to demolition plans
  • In a multidiscipline model we could make it so sections/elevations in the architectural discipline only link to architectural plans, structural to structural, mechanical to mechanical, etc...

I could see a default being set as a type parameter in the view type and then having an instance override if we want to change it in a specific view.

2nd this!

also can we add the parameter callouts have to only show up in the host view?
