STEP imports in Revit are currently brought in as a single, non-editable block with very limited control over the imported geometry. Users cannot explode the model into individual components, retain or reassign materials effectively, organize elements into subcategories, or simplify overly detailed geometry for project use.
Autodesk should enhance the STEP import workflow by providing native tools that allow imported STEP geometry to be converted into manageable and editable Revit elements by explode geometry.
Having a Simplify tool similar to Autodesk Inventor would be a significant advantage, allowing users to quickly generate BIM-ready, performance-optimized geometry without relying on external applications or complex
