I would like Copy/Monitor and Coordination Review to be better exposed to the API.  Currently if a wall/floor/grid is Copy/Monitored from a linked file to a host file, the API will only reveal the Element ID of the Linked Model using "GetMonitoredElementIds".  That is not really helpful.  We need to know both the ID of the linked file which contains the monitored element and the id (or better yet GUID) of the actual element which is being monitored.  With this, we could then start some interesting view controls to have Revit automatically run a coordination review (via the API), look and see which elements may have had changes to their monitored elements, then isolate only those particular elements in a view (or color them red, etc....) this would make for a much more productive Copy/Monitor Coordination Review process. A new feature in schedules in 2017 is combined values. This is nice, but needs improvement. Here are some ideas: 1. Please include a TRUE concatenation. Not just in a schedule, but in formulas as well.  Improvement to combined: I have a schedule with several check boxes. I wanted to have a combined field that showed when these boxes were checked, check Cold Water, you get: CW, check Hot Water, you get: HW, etc. I can do this with calculated values and a simple formula easily. Trouble is, you cannot include calculated values in a combined parameter. SO CLOSE. So, either please allow calculated values to be included or  Allow us to change the default Yes, No that it shows with the values of the Sample Value.    See attached.  Show More

I have found that making 3d grids out of extrusions and model text is extremely helpful when navigating 3d models during coordination or reviewing models in any 3d space.  Its easy to make in Revit but not user friendly or great. If this was automatically generated i am sure the people would rejoice!   If grids created in 2d views could automatically be generated and displayed in 3d space (perhaps allow the z elevation to be controlled as a host or work plane?) it would be amazing.  The current option for grids into of navisworks is not very helpful or clear as the linework depends on the perspective that you're viewing the model.   Show More

While working in a View or when a view is selected on a sheet, have a right click menu item to "Show in Browser" - this would expand the project browser and highlight the selected view. Very useful when your project has 1000's of views and hundreds of sheets and quicker that copying the name and doing a search in the project browser.  Show More

Most people think of sorting numerically as 1, 2, 3, 4...10, 11, 12, etc. Not Revit, it sorts numerically as 1, 11, 12, 13...19, 2, 20, 21, 22...3, 30, 31, 32 Which throws numbers way out of wack if you are have things numbered with different amounts of digits (1, 10, 100, 1000, etc)   Can this be fixed to it sorts numerically just like how everyone else in the world sorts numerically?   This is also annoying when sorting by pipe sizes (and I assume duct, conduit, wall, etc sizes as well)   Microsoft Office software has had numeric sorting figured out for as long as I have been alive, but Revit can't? Link a view Template's sub property to include another view templates property.   In the example at right there are basic system overrides: <NONE> <APPLY>   Additionally other templates can be selected in lieu of specifying parameters form the current template.   For V/G Overrides IMPORT, look to "_LINK"'s settings to use for the current template.   The VG settings would need to scan to prevent A=B=C=A type loops. and only offer selections for non-recursive selections, * warn prior to breaking the chain.   This particularly useful when setting LINED Revit Files VG overrides where the model components may be <BY HOST> or hidden alltogether.  These settings would only need to be modified to the "_LINK" tempalte and ant child template that used "_LINK" templates properties could be managed from the one partial template.   There may be cases where sub components point ot other subcomponents so that A=B=C. (e.g. AEFP, ADFP, AEFP-048X-ENLARGED, ADFP-048X-ENLARGED, ETC WOULD 'CASCADE' THROUGH THE TEMPLATES SETTING MORE AND MORE SPECIFIC INFORMATION AS THEY PASSED FROM ONE TEMPLATE TO ANOTHER. Show More

While in the Material Editor, in addition to Duplicate it would be helpful to have another option; Duplicate Material AND Assets. Maybe an intermediate dialog appears to prompt (with check boxes) for which assets (Appearance, Physical, Thermal) to duplicate. Often, we duplicate a material and then have to immediately, manually, duplicate the appearance asset so the original material does not get messed up. Show More

Right now, we can't have two sheets with the same number in one file. But what if we want to have multiple sets in one project (one for Construction Documentation and one for Filing for example). In a lot of places numbering conventions are strict so we can't just add a prefix or suffix.   I'm proposing we get a warning when there are duplicate sheet numbers, but we can accept the risk (the same as with duplicate type mark values).   We have two projects running now that each have 4 filing sets, one CD set and a few presentation sets. All of them have to have unique numbering, which means that we had to split it up in 5 files. I've recently been involved in some tests linking IFC files created in Archicad into a Revit project.  There is a major issue with this as the linked IFC file is located using Revit's internal origin and not the project base point.   Revit has been specifically set up to work using the survey point and project base point and for successful collaboration it needs to be able to link IFC files in the correct geographical location.  Currently the test model I'm linking is so far from the origin the geometry is completely corrupt and unusable.   Cheers   K. I often import manufacturer equipment into my model that I need to add shared parameters to. I have a built-out shared-parameter table/list for each kind of equipment (usually around 10-15 parameters long). Every time I need to add a bunch of shared parameters it can take a little while. It would be cool to be able to add multiple shared parameters in one go, and have some kind of table with checkboxes to select what category the shared parameter belongs to and whether it's a type or instance kind of parameter.   Edit: grammar Show More

Allow text blocks to have a parametrically defined length. Labels and text fields often have varying text lengths, and it would be nice to allow for different graphic lengths depending on placement and surrounding conditions.  Show More
