Create an option to visualize Point Cloud as Gaussian Splatting on Revit.    Since the user have no control on point size, and as you zoom in to see fine details on point cloud, it become so sparse you only see discrete small points with faint colors, gaussian splats would be better to understand geometry visually in Revit. Ability to unlock a group of elements like walls that have been aligned and locked to a slab edge.    This accomplished by selecting the group of elements and unticking a lock box either in properties menu or somewhere in the ribbon.   further examples of items that could be locked - Group of dims controlling spacing of group of levels - Roof footprint maybe locked to ref lines - Slab outline to an Autocad drawing   There are probably hundreds of scenario cases where a user wants to unlock a group of items rather than one by one then clicking ok each time you get a warning that said item is locked to something else. Problem Revit 2027 removed the contextual Options Bar that appeared while placing walls and other architectural creation tools. In previous versions, the parameters changed most often during placement sat in one fixed row directly below the Ribbon: Location Line (Wall Centerline, Core Centerline, Finish Face Exterior/Interior, Core Face Exterior/Interior) Height / Depth and the level selector Chain Offset Radius These values are now split between the Ribbon and the Properties palette. Parameters that were adjacent are scattered, and the ones in Properties are no longer in a fixed screen position. A companion idea covers the same removal for MEP creation tools: Restore the contextual Options Bar for MEP creation tools (Pipe, Duct, Conduit & Cable Tray). This idea is filed separately because the MEP one is tagged to pipe, duct, conduit and cable tray, and architectural users searching for wall placement issues will not find it. The affected population is larger than either thread shows on its own. Impact Laying out a floor plate means switching location line constantly. Core centerline for structural coordination, finish face for dimension strings, core face for partition layout, often several times within a single wall chain. I parsed my own Revit journal files to measure this rather than estimate it. On one small residential project in 2027, wall-heavy work: 231 Properties palette round trips across 11.5 hours of active modeling. Twenty per hour. That is one project, not a controlled study, but those are logged events, and every one of them is a trip the Options Bar previously absorbed inside the live command. The two controls are not interchangeable, which is why "these were duplicates" does not describe what changed: The Options Bar was command-scoped. It appeared because a command was running, occupied a fixed single-row position, and accepted changes inside the live command without ending it. Muscle memory worked because the target never moved. Properties is selection-scoped. It is a variable-height list whose field positions shift with element type and scroll state. There is no fixed target to learn, and values are set before or after a command rather than during it. Autodesk support's own published workaround for a related case makes the difference explicit: assign a keyboard shortcut, and confirm the value has been applied in Properties before entering the shortcut. That confirmation step did not exist when the value lived in the Options Bar. The supported workflow now contains the extra step. Suggestion Restore the contextual Options Bar for wall and architectural creation tools, or add a user preference that re-enables it. Shipping it off by default, as a checkbox alongside the other interface options, would satisfy both audiences. New users get the interface as designed. Production users turn it back on and keep working at speed. The code shipped in 2026, so this is a restoration rather than new development. Summary This is not a request for a new feature and it is not attachment to an old button position. It is a measured productivity regression on the single most frequent adjustment in architectural modeling. Twenty interruptions per hour, from my own logs, on the work that produces the drawings. Family Editor should optionally evaluate visibility parameters exactly as they would appear in a project, allowing users to isolate visibility states while editing Generic Annotation families. The feature exists in AutoCAD in the block editor - being able to preview visibility states without leaving the editor - let's make the same thing possible in family editor. This is a very real and very frustrating problem in everyday Revit work.   Revit constantly reuses the last folder visited by a completely different file operation. For example, I may export DWG files to an EXPORT folder, and then immediately use Link CAD or Load Family. Instead of opening in a sensible or user-defined location, Revit takes me back to the EXPORT folder, forcing me to navigate through the project folders again.   The same happens with Open, Import, Link, Load Family, Export and other file dialogs.   These operations have completely different purposes and therefore should not blindly share the same "last visited folder". At the very least, Revit should allow the user to define an initial/default directory for each type of file operation. An even better solution would be to remember the last directory separately for each operation.   This may sound like a minor UI issue, but when working in Revit professionally all day, these unnecessary navigation steps are repeated dozens of times. It is exactly the kind of small usability problem that wastes a surprising amount of time.   It is 2026. A professional application like Revit should be able to provide predictable and user-configurable file dialog locations.   What about some kind of folder and project manager?   Please implement this. The from view limit is essential when using this "Framing Elevation Tool" is used to create framing elevation views . We in general do not just use it for framing.  The front limit would allow the section cut to show members coming into the cut such as beams intersecting the frame line from the view side and or angle bracing that's mirror imaged and it resides on the front side would not show in the cut frame.  This tool is used throughout the industry for cut A frame cut at every instead of calling out a section cut such as stating elevation at column line 1 instead of seeing section A. Emphasis here is the front limit is not intended to move the forced work plane from the center of the grid  but it is only a visual incorporation of whatever resides in that plane on both sides front and back of the grid line.   This is essential in our industry and right now it is missing. I would like to see Revit display a small, persistent indicator showing the time since the user's last successful Synchronize with Central. During a typical workday, it is very easy to dismiss or ignore the Synchronize with Central reminder because you are in the middle of a task. Once you get focused on your work, it is surprisingly easy to lose track of when you last synchronized. For example, Revit could display something in the status bar or another non-intrusive location such as: Last Sync: 10:42 AM (1 hr 18 min ago) or simply: Sync with Central: 1 hr 18 min ago The timer would reset automatically after each successful Synchronize with Central. This would be different from the existing synchronization reminder because the goal is not to interrupt the user with another notification. It would simply provide constant visibility into the age of the user's local changes relative to Central. This would be especially useful on large, actively coordinated projects where multiple users may be working in the same model. It would also help prevent situations where a user spends several hours working without realizing they have not synchronized. Additional functionality could include: Display the exact time of the last successful sync. Display elapsed time since the last sync. Optionally change the indicator's appearance after a user-defined amount of time. Show “Never Synced” when a model has not yet been synchronized. This seems like a relatively small UI enhancement that could have a meaningful impact on Revit worksharing awareness without changing the existing synchronization workflow. Show More

There is a problem with exporting stairs into IFC: the threads are always visible. In a concrete stair when the threads are turned on, the concrete part of the stair is lower by the amount of the thread height. If you need to export the IFC model of only the concrete elements the problem is that there is no way of turning off the threads.  The procedure is to turn off the visibility of the threads in the 3D view and in IFC setting make sure the export uses only the visible elements. The threads show in the IFC export model. If you turn off the threads (not in the view, but as the element of the stair) then the geometry of the stair is wrong because there is too much concrete in that model. Show More

In Revit 2027, the Options Bar was removed, which used to let MEP users quickly change pipe and duct sizes and elevations while modeling. Those controls are now moved into other menus or the Properties palette, which makes a very common workflow slower and less convenient. A tool similar to Guide Grid that allows you to use lines or modeled components within a drawing to align them on a page. I periodically dig around to see if this feature exists and each time only find the tutorials on aligning plans based on grid lines. Ex: Window / Opening Schedule with several elevations that start at different heights or Window / Opening Details where the head detail reads better aligned above the sill detail. I am currently using the method of zooming in as close as I can get to each drawing placed on a sheet and dragging them to the grid but the ability to use the align tool would save so much time and ensure the pages feel clean.  Show More

Redlines to Revit Allow Revit MCP to read redlined PDFs or Bluebeam markups and turn them into proposed Revit changes. A typical workflow could be: 1. Export a drawing set from Revit. 2. Mark it up in Bluebeam. 3. Give the marked-up PDF to the MCP. 4. Have it identify the affected sheets, views, and model elements. 5. Review a list of proposed changes. 6. Approve the changes individually or in batches. 7. Have the MCP make the revisions and provide a summary of what changed. This could handle common redlines such as: * Move a wall * Change a door size * Rename a room * Add or revise dimensions * Delete or revise notes * Update detail references * Add missing tags * Apply the same change to similar conditions The important part is that the MCP should distinguish between straightforward drafting changes and items that require architectural judgment. It would also be useful if each markup could be tracked as **Completed, Needs Clarification, or Not Implemented**, creating a direct round-trip workflow between Revit and Bluebeam. We may have photographs, scans of old drawings, site measurements, aerial images, PDFs, Matterport imagery, point clouds or a limited field survey. An AI agent should be able to analyze this reference material and construct a preliminary Revit existing-conditions model. For example, the user could provide: Exterior and interior photographs Existing floor-plan PDFs Historical drawings Known dimensions Ceiling heights Door/window measurements Site photographs Point-cloud or scan information where available The agent could then create: Levels Grids Exterior and interior walls Floors Roofs Ceilings Doors Windows Stairs Major casework or fixtures Rooms Basic materials Existing-condition elevations Handling uncertainty is critical The AI should never silently invent dimensions. Instead, reconstructed geometry should identify its basis and uncertainty. Example prompt “Using these 42 site photographs, the existing PDF plan and the dimensions I recorded in the field, create a preliminary existing-conditions model. Use verified dimensions wherever available. Where geometry cannot be determined reliably, make a reasonable provisional assumption and flag it for field verification.” This would be especially valuable for renovation, historic preservation, tenant improvement and due-diligence projects where architects currently spend substantial time manually rebuilding existing conditions before design can begin. For example, the architect could provide: Project name, address, client and project number Project type and scope Existing vs. new construction Project phases Jurisdiction Anticipated drawing milestones Required disciplines Office naming and sheet-numbering conventions The MCP agent could then create and populate: Project Information parameters Sheet list and sheet numbers Title blocks Floor plans Reflected ceiling plans Enlarged plans Elevations Building sections Wall sections Finish plans Life-safety plans Code sheets Schedules Legends Cover sheet General notes sheets Placeholder detail sheets Appropriate view templates Browser organization Scope boxes and dependent views where appropriate The result would not need to contain finished drawings. Populate the project information, create the anticipated sheet list and views, apply our standard view templates, create room and door schedules, and identify anything you need me to resolve.” Important workflow Before creating anything, the agent should present a proposed sheet/view structure for approval. After approval, Revit MCP could perform the batch creation through Trusted-Write and provide a summary of everything created or modified.
