This is a very real and very frustrating problem in everyday Revit work.
Revit constantly reuses the last folder visited by a completely different file operation. For example, I may export DWG files to an EXPORT folder, and then immediately use Link CAD or Load Family. Instead of opening in a sensible or user-defined location, Revit takes me back to the EXPORT folder, forcing me to navigate through the project folders again.
The same happens with Open, Import, Link, Load Family, Export and other file dialogs.
These operations have completely different purposes and therefore should not blindly share the same "last visited folder". At the very least, Revit should allow the user to define an initial/default directory for each type of file operation. An even better solution would be to remember the last directory separately for each operation.
This may sound like a minor UI issue, but when working in Revit professionally all day, these unnecessary navigation steps are repeated dozens of times. It is exactly the kind of small usability problem that wastes a surprising amount of time.
It is 2026. A professional application like Revit should be able to provide predictable and user-configurable file dialog locations.
What about some kind of folder and project manager?
Please implement this.
