When in window it is not possible to open a linked component by means of right mouse click/button on the selected component. As far as i know, you need to select the component in the browser. In a large assembly, - Right click on component in window, Select find in browser, then select component in browser, then right click Open. Could be shorter, bij just right clicking on the component. Adding screw, nut, washers in fusion is just a pain. There's no clear best path. Here's the problems as I see them: Fasteners mess up your browser, 'cause there's no folders. If you put them all in one "fastener" component, you get BOM problems and timeline messiness.  No smart way of adding them. Import one by one? McMaster? Threaded holes? Linked? Not Linked? How to constrain? Joint every one? Joint one then rigid group? No joints, align and then rigid group? What is most effiecent? My idea really is two parts: Add a fastener class of joint origin. When joint origins are created you have the option to class them as fastener and add an ID. Corresponding ID:s can now be mated automagicly. Overhaul the hole creation to include a fastener option. This lets you set a joint origin of the fastener class and spec its ID. You need to be able to set a joint origin on each side if it's a through hole. Screw on one side and nut on the other.  Now, when you create your 48 holes from sketch points the will have an ID. Then you click the tools tab and there is a fastener dialog and WHAM you now have your 347-or-whatever screws and nuts jointed. On timeline event for each ID. I see two problems right now: How do you solve washers? Are they jointed beforehand? If you have a screw-and-washer sub. asm/component how are they represented in the BOM? Browser. You really ****ing need a folder or something. Or a fastener type of component that does not show up in the BOM Fasteners you don't have ****ing 127pcs of can of course still be jointed the "manual" way. Show More

There needs to be consistency in the component creation processes, with an additional option or two. Here is what I would like to see:   There are at least two different methods of creating a new component, one method is to select "New Component" from the "Assembly" menu, this method brings up a window where a component name can be assigned along with some other options. Another method of creating a component is to simply right-click the "Unsaved" or the "Design Name" from the browser. Unfortunately, this method does not bring up the same "New Component" window that appears in the first method. It would be nice if the two methods were consistent, with both bringing up the "New Component" window.   Additional options that would be great to see in the "New Component" window: the ability to add the Part Number and the Description. Rather than going back in later and adding these descriptors, if I remember, it would be nice to have this option up front when the creation process starts. Show More

It's beyond annoying and time consuming when you insert for example a bunch of screws/nuts for an assembly and they span your computer's entire screen from top to bottom on the tree without the ability to put them into a folder labeled "screws/nuts". There is certain CAD "hygiene" that needs to be kept to work professionally and efficiently. Can we please get the ability to have folders to organize parts in an assembly? Right now I need to right click, cut, paste new... I would like to see ability to just drag children components out of parent and make them their own entity in the browsers Hierarchy Tree structure. This seems like a common feature among programs that have hierarchical relationships and I think it should be fusion... Currently, activating a component requires: (a) Visually identifying which items in the browser are actual components and thus possible targets. This requires visually searching left (irregularly indented) side of the tree. (b) Hovering the mouse over the component name until the radio button appears. (c) Moving the mouse the the right side of the item, over the radio button. (d) Clicking on the radio button   This operation requires far more visual effort and fine motor operations than necessary.   My preference would be not to hide the non-selected radio buttons. This would visually identify components (more positively than the indistinct and multiple different "component" and "assembly" icons), and give the eye and hand an available visual target to move the mouse towards (instead of requiring hover then jog-to-the-right).   However, I realize that the visual designers may have an insurmountable fetish for suppressing anything perceived by a lay person as visual clutter -- such as the disappearing unselected radio buttons.   So, as a fallback, at least expand the hit region for browser tree items that are components so that it encompasses the area where the radio button will appear.  This way, users can move the mouse directly to that location, prompting the button to appear, and then click on it.   This is an ergonomic issue as well as a speed and productivity issue, as it reduces two mouse movements requiring fine positioning each time down to a single move and fine position. Feature Request - Fusion 360 - Smart-History Mark   Often I, like many other users, are required to "rework" much of our Fusion 360 Models because we forget to switch to the correct Component before making edits.   I would like to see a "User Preference Option" to turn on a "Smart-History Marker" mode.   If the "Smart-History Marker" option is set, five "Smart-History Marker Modes" could be toggled by selecting the marker with a "Shift-Click" on the History Marker.   A Smart-History Mark would have slightly different symbols, one for each of Five Modes;    Mode 1, The current symbol would indicate the currently action as currently implemented.   Smart Mode 2, When the History Marker is manually moved, it would "automatically" select the "LEFT Adjacent Feature's Component"  to edit. Smart Mode 3, Same as Mode 2, additionally adding to its "History Group" if a group is defined.   Smart Mode 4, When the History Marker is manually moved, it would "automatically" select the "RIGHT Adjacent Feature's Component" to edit. Smart Mode 5, Same as Mode 4, additionally adding to its "History Group" if a group is defined.   The Smart History Mark Symbol could have a small "arrow" across its top to indicated the "left" or "right" mode. The arrow could be; open for Modes 2 & 4, and closed for Modes 3 & 5. The current (as implemented) History Mark Symbol would be used for Mode 1.   A manual Browser Component Change should "Set Edit" to that Component (as currently implemented), but the Smart-History Mode would stay the same as the user has set, and reactivated when the History Mark is manually moved.   This new "Smart-History Marker" functionality would greatly increase users Fusion 360 productivity. This is a basic funktionality to dea with data, especially if the data are managed via the Autodesk Desktop Connector. This is a musthave. Look at dropbox. Where is the problem? Since 5(?) years I'm using dropbox. It is fantastic, fast, accessible with ease from everywhere. Autodesk is everytime doing poor solutions and renaming that s**** only. Sorry. I find myself constantly accidentally selecting SELECTABLE/UNSELECTABLE when using the right-click drop down and there is NO indication as to what is going on once this happens~!!!   ITS MADDENING. Can it get its own darn hotkey and be removed from the right click dropdown altogether?  Also, while we are at it, exactly how do we indicate or show what SELECTABLE mode or status a particular component or body is in the tree??  Perhaps even a warning if you hit SELECTABLE by accident that says "Hey, you just accidentally made this item UNSELECTABLE and you are going to be driven crazy, you SURE you want to do this?" Can we also give FIND IN BROWSER and FIND IN WINDOW its own hotkey? Oh, I would pay money for that.. Very very useful.. WORST part was, I could also see no indication I made the item UNSELECTABLE in the MODEL HISTORY... Was very odd.  ALSO, I have no idea why you would make something UNSELECTABLE... why wouldn't you just HIDE it?  Maybe its just my workflow.. This would be a HUGE help especially when I have to go all the way up to the top to turn off the Capture History or something like that or rename components manually because I turned off shadow mode. If a project was saved and an object  (body or sketch) had its visibility turned off, you cannot turn the visibility on in the app.     However any Object which was saved on the computer with its visibility On, you can toggle its visibility between On and Off within the app.    This has been a big inconvenience within the app for me.    App - iOS computer - OSX    Show More

So I recently got hit with the New UI and in general, I like the modern look of the Ribbon Bar Icons but the uniform color choice for the Browser Icons was a terrible one - And that's putting it mildly.   I just cannot make out at a glance what parts of a model I've hidden [V] or not making it agonizing to work with which is terrible! When re-parenting a component in the browser tree, you should be able to drag and drop the component into the spot where you want it to end up.  If I release the mouse where the blue line is in this picture, the component should become a child of the top-level node. Right now the blue line just misleads the user into thinking the component will be moved there, even though nothing happens.  The program currently requires the user to drop the component onto the parent node itself. When I go to delete a file (component, drawing, etc.) sometimes I'm warned that the file cannot be deleted because it's being used somewhere else. I think it would be great if you could see the simulation results in the mobile app for Fusion 360 and A360.  It is possible to see results in the A360 website on a tablet, but it strains to do so.  If the apps could show stress, strain, deformation, etc., like the A360 website does on a computer, it would be very useful for reviewing in the field.   Also, I like the ability to see the results on an undeformed model in Fusion 360.  It would be great to be able to do that in the A360 site and the apps.  On the A360 site, you can see a ghost of an undeformed model, but the results are only shown on a deformed model. I spend a lot of wasted time reading up and down the Fusion 360 Browser Tree. A little help would be appreciated.   The Fusion 360 Browser tree would be much easier to see/understand if each item in the Browser were indented "two spaces", and the Components were indented (as now) only one space.   And/or, maybe component tabs could be a consistent customizable color? Hi,  I have many subfolders inside a project folder. When I click the arrow beside the master folder in the tree view I am unable to see the projects in the bottom of the list. There should an arrow at the last entry which upon clicking should open the remaining folders. The image attached will explain further.    Show More

Proposed workflow ;   Your looking for an old file or component to add to a your latest assembly. You go digging for the old file in Data panel. Find it. Great! Would be good to have a simple check box or button that allowed a duplicate data panel to nest parallel ( like snapping two win explorer panes side by side )  Then simultaneously I can navigate to the latest assembly as well > open it from the right pane > Drag the old component in from the left pane.    I do not see this functionality, therefor   Current workflow: Find old component and then open it. Find the new assembly file then open it Then "save as" the old component into a new directory creating an unwanted duplicate. Then drag that newly saved "duplicate" into the assembly. This might work in a lot of cases, but it does not help with staying organised with document control.  If this feature exists, then i missed it. As a lot of folks here agree, data panel lets the software down. After spending more time on model of some regenerative concept there is one irregular thing that seen is there is only 4 environment are available there only which is not sufficient for the model part. Apart of this every model which is being modelled in fusion 360. This is most important thing but as new update comes that then it doesn't update the environment. So this is the new idea generation that in every update there would be one or two new environment provide so that it could be easy to perform render task. As after updating fusion every time there is a green line on the top of taskbar which shows that what is new in this update, hence like this there is there is link should be provided so that new environment can be downloaded.   Another way is to download the environment from various platform and some websites, as like this process I have downloaded about 27 additional environments, so new update must it and fulfil it.   Show More

Extruding multiple Components   When extruding a Sketch object, I often do a number of similar extrudes. While I get that the Extrusion Dialog is guessing what you want, such as a Cut or Join, based on conditions, it infuriates me that if I want to make a bunch of components, the Extrusion type doesn't just stay on the previous (Component) selection.  After I choose Component for one Extrusion, why not make that my NEW DEFAULT type so I don't have to keep selecting Component?   Alternatively,  add a "Make Default" or "Keep Tool" checkbox near the drop-down menu. Naming New Components from the Browser Related to that, when I choose "New Component" in the Browser, I expect to begin typing the Component name, but have to click twice to get into text edit mode. I often start typing and start executing commands instead o=f renaming my new Component!   I can understand that if someone doesn't choose to rename their components, it may take another click to close text edit mode. But isn't it better to encourage best practices by making them easier to use instead of harder?   I would love to see some streamlining in these areas. Thank you. Show More

You already have Fusion linked to McMaster-Carr to be able to search and download models of say fasteners directly into your "assembly". All part numbers are right there. However, when placing an order on McMaster-Carr's site, I would have to go back in and individually place those parts into the cart. This could take some time. I think you should add a feature which would automatically place all McMaster-Carr parts you have in your current "assembly" into their cart ready to purchase and complete an order. This would be a huge time saver as well as make sure you're only ordering what you need and not forgetting anything. If it's in your assembly, it gets ordered. As for now we can choose from: - Grid - List   Which is fine if you don't have to browse thru anything bigger. It would be nice to be able to scale the size of the list/icons with the size of the project you are working on. I often end up with assemblies with 10+ joints and since I always forget to name them I'm lost later on to figure out which one is which in the browser.   Suggestion 1 -> Better naming: Instead of generic naming like: Rigid1, Rigid2, Rigid3, Rigid4 Use the actual Component names and indicate which is attached to which: [Component 1] [->] [Component 2] Also the Names should be liked to the components names, so if you change the component name the joint name changes as well.   Suggestion 2 -> Hover Highlighting  Currently if you hover over a joint in the browser it highlights it (barely noticeable). I would like to have the the actual joint highlighted (better) and also both joint components. Visually it would be good to have a highlighting in the same way when you hover over components. In larger assemblies with distributed designs I often have the Issue that my model looks too cluttered. Mostly because there are some sketches turned on and the most joints are visible. To hide everything it takes quite some time to go through all designs and hide everything. And if I need some sketches or joints later I need to manually find them again.   I would suggest having a toggle option in the document settings for hide all joints and hide all sketches so that you can quickly switch. Premise: Fusion 360 is growing, is in full development and updates are being issued often.   Issue: Projects can't be opened on machines with even "slightly outdated" versions of fusion, which makes the entire "cloud based" feature a big pain in the arse and useless feature. Why fusion might not be up to date on all machines? you may ask... On my personal computer is always up to date, but on my University's machines they are not. Updates are being pushed periodically, when the IT staff decides (stubborn folks). For example, at the momen when I was writing this message, fusion version at my university was still 2.0.5119... can't open any of my projects. Suggestion: As long as the update does not address aspects or features that would cause incompatibility, please allow a file to be opened in an older version of Fusion 360. I am sure that most of this small updates are merely fixing bugs and not really changing so much in the way models are being handled, so there is no reason for this blanket-rule. I am aware this might be a bit of more effort from development side, as it is easier to make one rule that fits all, but that is not the best option many times.   And, of course, when the changes in fusion are of such nature that newly created files would have features "unknown" to older versions, then it is understandable to have a protection in place. For me, the version management is not at all useful. It is only causing problems. Currently I have models with ~20 saves and thus ~20 versions and I want to remove them. But F360 will not let me do it because it claims one of versions (it will not tell me which one) is in use somewhere else (it will not tell me where). Checking the "Used In" gives me nothing so it is all a bit of a mystery. Anyway, long story short; I would like an option to disable versions so that I can immediately and indefinitely disable it once and for all. Show More

It is already possible to specify icons for projects via the web-viewer. This is very nice, but for my purposes not enough. I would like to set icons for folders in the same way. This would make it a lot easier to find the correct folder, say for a specific part, than having to know all part-names by heart.   To summarize: Please add the same mechanism that allow specifing custom icons for projects to project folders. It's really difficult to work like that. At the moment if we have a multibody, with many bodies, and we need to realize a new body Fusion choose to set CUT to all bodies. No matter what you want to do (join or cut only a body). This leads inevitably to freeze Fusion with no really a reason... then choose if cut or join and what bodies (and  this often is not simply just with names..) are involved in the operation.   Solution:   Just choose Join/Cut THEN choose what bodies are involved (especially for the cut operation).   Please!   Thanks!     Show More

Add ability to add images/hyperlink to Edit Notes in CAM setup. Adding a picture of how part was fixtured for each setup helps to remind how setup was done. If you have a hyperlink pasting capability it could link to jpgs, screen grabs, video and sound files to quickly inform important things about the setup. Highlight components in design area when moving mouse over design tree. This is a current feature BUT you have to momentarily hover the mouse over the component in the design tree to highlight the component in the design area.    Example: I have two dozen components that I've imported from a .stp file and they all have names that do not give me any information as to what the components actually are. To find what I'm looking for I have to momentarily hover over each component in the design tree. This takes awhile. Ideally I'd like to be able to slowly move my mouse down the design tree and the components will highlight in the design area as I do this. Show More

When we need create a rigid group for a big number of components from Pattern (in my case 78 components was created in a Vehicle (water) radiator. 78 vertical water channels) it use a lot room in the browser. To avoid it we can create a pattern in sketch mode, but is a lot work to do selecting one by one. Off course Fusion is a amazing software where anything can be create to improve the tools for a Fusion. My idea is to minimize  the amount of lines located at Browser. In this case of Rigid Group, need to be created a component with sub-components into it. Per example a folder with sub-folders into it.  In the Browser when we click in the main arrow "Rigid Group component" (Main folder to expand/open it) will be showing: a) origin, b) 78 Components, and when we will be clicking in the individual component will be opening it to show a body. The similar way which is ready exist in the Browser. When we close the arrows will be showing just one line. In the "Time Line" also is ready showing just one symbol. I spend a lot of time on computer. As you can guess, health is the first thing to concern. "Blue light" which screens produces a lot, is very bad for your both pyshcology and eyes . To avoid that you could use yellow filters (both hardware and software) and you could also use color themes. Both for healt and aesthetic choice.   AutoCad has great color theme in default. (In my oppinion) But same folks may like white color theme. PhotoShop on the other hand, handled this "theme" thing very smoothly.   I think, Fusion 360 needs to have color options for anyones choices like Photoshop's menu:   (This is Photoshop's menu)   (These are my suggested 3 color themes. Greetings,     This is by no means a top priority improvement to Fusion 360, but it's a little weird that it's not incorporated. Currently, there is no way to move your layers around and organize them. Whatever order you create your layers in is the order they are set to with no option to change.    It would be nice to have an option to "send layer to top/bottom" or the ability to click and drag a layer on top or below another in the List UI.     The best available solution currently is to copy everything from one sketch, create a new sketch and paste. It's a solution, but not a great one. The problem is it can take a LOT of time and on top of that you lose extra dimension annotations as well as fixed constraints.   Please consider adding to an upcoming version of Fusion.   Cheers.  Show More

I've been working on a project for a couple of days now and my assembly is getting bigger and bigger - with this an increasing amount of hardware is building up on the component list - I have over 200 bolts and it is becoming tricky to manage what components are actually needed - so I propose a way to create a folder in the component list on the left - much like what happens when you create a view I think that you should be able to create a folder of components, this will also allow the user to quickly turn off unnecessary components such as nuts and bolts; this also allows the users with lower-end computers to better scrub through there design without major optimisation. The user should be able to just 'Drag and Drop' the components into and out of the folder.   Show More

Fusion exhibits erratic behaviour when you attempt to activate components in the model tree. See screen cast.    While I guess the fade-in/out of the activation buttons is made for visual purposes, the less-than-ideally implemented feature breaks workflow efficiency.    I would wish for having the option of simply having the activation buttons always visible. Alternatively, fix it so the activation button always appears when the mouse hovers over.   I'm posting this in the idea-station since this "feature" has been there for ages, and i suspect it is not considered a bug. Good day Idea Station   Recently I was trying to export files as IGS and realized that there is no "Options" button like there is in Inventor, Solidworks etc for setting your export options for the selected file type, be it IGES or STEP.  This extra bit of flexibility is always handy and I find it strange that it is missing from Fusion 360.  Please can we have this improvement looked at.   Show More

Hi, all,   Currently doing some experimentation with the in-browser performance for Fusion 360 and am loving it! In doing some playing around, we packaged Fusion 360 in an Electron wrapper and were able to play with it as a standalone app. It seems like a lot of functions are maintained, but you can't actually do any modeling inside the Electron-wrapped PWA (I get a Cannot GET /app/sc/edit return, so it seems to be something on the Autodesk side of the equation).   PWAs are supported across desktop, mobile, and browser-based platforms, and it seems that it would probably eliminate the need to develop Fusion 360 mobile apps while providing a much more robust replacement.   I just wanted to share it and thought this was the most appropriate place to do so! Currently, joints are in a directory style structure. With sketches, you can turn them all on or off with a single click of the top level light bulb. A similar capability for joints would be useful.  Show More

Just tried this thing . We can drag the bodies at any place we want in bodies dropdown .  Once the bodies are converted into the components , the order are fixed . we cannot change the order of components . sometimes we need to change the sequence for our better understanding . Well , it can be done by a long process by adding new component and draging bodies from this component to another .  Show More

Is possible to turn off - disable timeline for some operations? A lots of times there is the necessity to modify a component with the complete visibility (in real time) of the other components in the "last state", so, if I have to modify something located in the beginning of timeline and, in the same time, to be able to see other components - bodies at the end of the timeline, is only possible if I disable the timeline....with catastrofic results. Ok, so this has bitten me a couple of times-   I do the bulk of my CAD/CAM at home, in my comfy chair, with the HVAC and the stereo and the nice desk and my retina iMac because that display is luscious. At the shop next to the Speedio, I've got my ThinkPad for making tweaks and spitting out code. It's sweet not to have to lug the laptop around anymore!   PROBLEM: I forget to save/close a file at home that I'm working on... get to the shop... ouch! I only have access to the last saved variant! Fusion darn well knows I've got an updated version open on another computer, right?   REQUEST: When I open a file that is open on another instance of Fusion under my account, give me a dialog box that says "Save and Open From Other Computer." I usually have access to fast internet when using F360 and the experience is good. Recently I had the unfortunate experience of using it on a 5Mbps down/0.5Mbps up DSL internet connection. For anything with complexity this makes using F360 like pulling teeth. Every save seems to be uploading the whole file rather than just the changes! It takes forever and often gets stuck and stops uploading. It's unbelievably frustrating when you need those files available on the cloud. You have a product that relies on the cloud and we still don't have a proper local storage syncing client that could easily make this painless. It could even be a separate program (like Dropbox) than runs in the system tray that transparently keeps all the files synced even when F360 is closed. This system should also have settings for limiting upload and download speeds so it doesn't affect other users on the network. This would benefit all users but should be considered essential for folks with slow and intermittent internet connections. Show More

Hi, When importing a design into an existing model all the section are unavailable to be clicked on. If you want to hide a component you have to make changes in the original save it and update.  This is very very annoying if all you want to do, say, is switch off a displayed sketch which happened to be visible when you saved the model or hide a component / body.   I propose a slight modification to the way that imported entities are handled. Whilst I can understand why actual changes to the original can't be done - we should be allowed to hide or show parts of the imported model.   Hiding showing parts of a model does not affect the original model   Thanks Matt   Show More

whenever I am working on a model , I am changing the workspace again and again . Like I am in render workspace and I want some modification , so If in one click I can return to my model workspace and then again to render workspace , it will be good rather than to hover mouse and then select it . Like If (1) for model ,(2)Patch ,(3)sheetmetal . This Idea is not that big , but will be little helpfull to switch workspace faster . Show More

As per the the title. In complex models with multiple component copies / instances / patterns, a CAM setup might only be needed once on each unique component??? so it would be good to toggle this on/off , to save navigating through manually and missing one....or have a script that does this for you. I found recently that if in the desktop application you last saved a design while a subcomponent was activated, the mobile app on Android will ONLY show you that activated component and won't appear to give you any way to navigate up to the parent of that component.   This was a problem for me because I wanted to get a measurement off a different component than the one which had been activated when saved. I think it would make a lot more sense for the top loft arrow to take you back on page rather than back to all of your projects. As someone who uses the internet (like most) I'm used to having the arrow in that location go back one page. What this mean is that several times each day I swear at the browser for taking me right out of the entire file path, often several folders deep.    What I think would work better would be a home button, taking you back to the projects overview, next to both a forwards and a back arrow more in line with what we're all used to on internet browsers.  Show More

Currently in Fusion 360, to select a folder to save a file you, you are required to double click it to open the folder. I have found this really confusing when I don't pay attention, because my intuition is to single click, which highlights the folder. Clicking save, however, puts the file in the master folder, not the one I selected. I see no reason for a highlighted folder not to indicate a file is being saved there, and this wouldn't impact anyone who is used to double clicking to select a folder. Show More
