I have brought this idea though already once, unfortunately, it is voted not enough, although it so many users need. Finally, Advance Steel must bring an export to Step. Just for the cuts reaping of complicated cuts in pipes. All manufacturers of these 3D lasers robots need the Step format.

Well, like the subject says, it would be really necessary to give Bolts, Nuts and washers individual position numbers. Currently it is only possible to give the complete bolt assembly one position number. However, this is usually only done with bolts according to DIN 6914 (because you can buy these bolts only as a set). Every other type of bolt, nut or washer you have to order separately, therefore you need a individual position number for those parts... otherwise the procurement department will not be able to order anything. Currently this is done manually for each bolt assembly.... and this costs a lot of time and money. I don't know how the other companies deal with this issue but in our understanding this is a basic feature which every steel construction software should offer. This is what it could look like. I'm aware that you have to consider also 2nd washers, 2nd bolts etc.... so it probably is a little bit more complex than this, but I think the point what we need is clear.

I would like to see document manager improved to include the following: Ability to open several drawings at once. Dialogue should remain after opening a drawng so that additional files can be selected without having to search everytime. At the very least, it should remember the last file you opened (similar to the std open dialogue). Should have an option to consider "only displayed" and "only selected" objects (particularly useful in large projects with lots of partial issues!). Batch plot improvements (would like an option to control the plots and even plot to multiple devices from document manager). Understand publish works well, but it forces the user to process the files twice by having to select them in document manager first (revision update) and the re-selecting in publish (plotting). Very cumbersome, especially in projects with thousands of drawings. Not to mention the possibility of error in selecting drawings... Thanks for considering...

Hello, Currently placing angular dimension on details is not user friendly. It will be much easier if we place angular dimesnions same way as in Autocad-by clicking only on the two lines, not making a few extra steps. Regards, Ilko Dimitrov

It would be nice to have a bolt generator similar to Inventor or even the ability to place a bolt or a nut separately. I sometimes have projects where a hole needs to be placed on a member and a nut welded underneath, at present I create the nut as a polygonal plate. Also an option for creating threaded rods

I read most of the treads about kiss files on the forums and I think we are due for an update. I received many request over the past years, from multiple customer in North-America and a lot of fabricators are using Kiss standards. From the different existing request, yes having the bolts and fasteners will be great! but we should also think of revision mark as the example below. Currently when creating base plate with macro we do not have the option to manipulate the following parameters: 1. Grout thickness below leveling plate 2. Projection amount-top end of AB sticking above the t.o.concrete 3. If hooked-Hook size-developers-please make sure you know how the hook and the embedment is measured per AISC. 4. Number of nuts /washers/plate washers-sizes of plate washers/washers/nuts on bottom end 5. Number of washers/nuts below base plate 6. Number of washers/plate washers-sizes/nuts above base plate We have the drawing style for AB elevation, but we are not able to model exactly what we want-does not make sence. The way currently anchors are built in Astorbase is not working well. Even the anchor bolt names are entered wrong by the developers. There should be a macro to treat anchor as an anchor (round bar, theraded bar) and nut, washers and plate washers attached to it, manipulated from base plate macro and explodable in BOM. Anchors shall be able to be detailed as MP with parts attached to them.

It is often necessary to split a railing, maybe for transport, or installation or to maximise section lengths. It is possible to create a railing in a number of sections to accomplish the above but consideration must be given to the start and end position of posts to allow continuity of the railing. By far the easiest method would be to create a continuous railing and split the railing after. It would also be good if a gap can be included when splitting to allow for joining spigots etc. Maybe, after splitting, each section of railing could be an independent railing joint so parameters can be changed (height for instance) for each section - in this instance I have a railing on an incline in mind where the height of top handrail may be different to allow for the fall.

In most joints the model role of the components is hard coded into the joint macro. If I open the properties of the component seperately the Model Role field is greyed and we do not have access to change the Model Role. Consider the case of drawing styles when changing the model role might be advantagious for good drawing output - to isolate a particular object for example. It is not desirable to delete the joint box to access the Model Role. My suggestion is that the object Model Role can always override the default Model Role in a joint and that the Model Role field is always available in the individual object properties. Most of the time when you do a force update on a file in the document manager you need to go back into that file and replace dimensions that have been deleted or adjust the changes made. It would be helpful if the text colour of the updated file changed to highlight the files altered. This can be deleted after the file has been opened and saved or switched off manually. Before Update After Update Better after update When you update many drawings without doing a revision update this would save a lot of time. Gary

As well as my model.DWG Getting larger than 10mb and more .AS getting very slow and going like hang.so I want to know that what is autodesk team doing for speed(performance) of advance steel.SPEED IS HUGE ISSUE WITH ADVANCE.

We frequently need external threads on tubes or on round steels. At the moment we use pocket holes to solve this problem. But this is not the real way. What we need is a command for external threads.

Hello, it will be very helpful to get the possibility to have an additional hole information for on site drilled holes. Because if I will set the screw on site drilled the holes it is not possible to get the information in drawings and also not to choose the element hole. Additional will be helpful to get no holes in dxf plates if I set on site drilling holes.

In all joints which use notches it should be possible to add different corner finishes, e.g., instead of a radius a hole. At the moment it is mostly only possible to use a radius. However, holes can be easier produced. If I liked to have a hole, I must leave out in the joint the notch and insert one or several manual notches with hole, in addition. One can also build no bricks joint, because the parametric notch also does not contain this possibility.

Hi all, I love the fact that you can ignore certain clashes in the model. What I'd like to see is the ability to reset only specific ignored objects. At the moment, we can have several hundred clashes ignored (which can take a fair amount of time to process...) and if you make a mistake and ignore one too many, then you have to restore all and go back to the start... I'm thinking an "Ignored clashes" tab, with a "Reset object" (singular) button could make life a lot easier... Thanks for considering!

It would be a great benefit to us if Autodesk would expose us users to connection macro examples. Put the source for these... ...here https://github.com/Autodesk so we can learn from them as an aid to better allow us to create our own. While your at it why don't you throw the inner workings of the kiss file generation up there too so we can enhance it to meet the functionality of your competitors. 😛

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, mein Vorschlag wäre ein Befehl, mit dem ausgeblendete Teile wieder angezeigt werden. Mit der Funktion "Alles sichtbar" krieg ich das zwar hin, muss aber wieder einen Zwischenschritt schalten um wieder auf die gewünschte Suchabfrage oder Gruppe zu kommen. Bei größeren Modellen ist der Befehl "Alles sichtbar" etwas aufwändig. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Alexander Profanter

Hello, in many joints the option is missing to paste galvanisation holes. All joints should be checked to this problem and be complemented. Regards Elias

Hi, the groups in the project explorer are very helpful, but it's many work to add parts to them. So it would be very great, to set a group to "active" (many think the lamp signalize this, but it doesn't). so if the group is set to "active", all parts which are creating after this, should be automatic in the group.
