Hello all together! I think that the Advance Steel desperately needs an additional option in Camera mode, where the user could select the parts that are going to be visible in the drawing view. I thought about that a lot and in my opinion there should be an option (select/deselect parts) in camera box, so the user could select parts visible in the view and if he would later wanted to add or delete parts from the view he could use the (select/deselect parts) to do so, then the drawing would need to be updated. But that is just my idea. Any other option with similar output would be extremely welcome to all AS Users. I think this would increase GA drawing creation productivity for at least 20%.

Currently, the DXF file generated by Advance Steel shows all the views described by (DSTV) NC file. But not all CNC machines are able to read or handle correctly the DXF files containing more than 1 view. The feature request would be to have a setting like: "Force output of 1 plate face only in DXF file" So the DXF files for plates will contain one and only one view. Thank you Emy

It would be very helpful to add a command to delete the screws, but the holes are not erased. Now the delete command (Autocad) deletes all with the holes. Regards M. Lukeš

Please make a separate, independently "floating" window for the Document Manager (see e.g. Management Tools), independent of the active drawing(s). Working on the drawing must be possible in parallel to the opened Window of the Document Manager.

Hello, It would be very nice if we could have single part marks and assembly marks exported to Revit via the .smlx file. Maybe to have them integrated with the Identity Data of each element. Thanks!

Hello, Please find a way to stop the annoying cut views symbols movement during detail update. In this case below 11 symbols were first manually moved and during view depth update they moved and some of them over dimension lines. Regards, Ilko Dimitrov

It would be nice to be able to highlight a manually placed weld symbol, right click and say "Add Leader" or something similar.

The dialog boxes for automatic joints need a complete redesign. And this does not mean a new colour as a new "feature". They are too complex, there are no tooltips or other help. Sometimes you cannot read the categories on the left side. The boxes must be scalable. There must also be an option to get access to the measure tools without leaving the dialog box. Sometimes you need a distance or a angle to insert the correct values in the dialog box. Greetings Jörg

We done a lot of work with Drawing Styles they are very powerfull indeed. However we really require a way to lock a drawings dimensions even when updating. Presently when updating drawings or creating sections or adding views or call outs the manual dimensions I have placed get thrown all over the place and I have to redimension my drawing again and again. Ok in some cases this is not a problem as we have done a lot of work with our drawings styles. But when we do those strange and unusual jobs that we don't have drawing styles for this becomes a big pain. With Revit allowing architects to create very organic shapes for buildings these days there comes a point where predefined drawing styles do not do the job. Hence we need to dimension / part dimension drawings by hand. If I spend time editing a drawing, issue it for fabrication and then have a revision...... It is much easier to add 1 or 2 dimensions or even move a dimension line or 2 then then to check all dimensions on a drawing. This becomes a time costly process for the draftsman and the checker which then doubles the time to produce the drawing, loosing any gain from the software. So the suggestion would be to lock a dimensions from moving in the extension line direction and being removed all together unless the object dimension point has been deleted (i.e. object is deleted hence the dimension point is gone) Obviously they still need to update if they move location. i.e. A shear plate moves 100mm down the beam. This would be a setting that can be applied or removed local to each drawing. Maybe a selection from the Document Manager would be a good idea for application and removal to each drawing.

Please add an option to have the leader lines of a manually placed label come off the middle of the label text NOT under the label. It would be nice to have these label leaders look and function like an AutoCAD leader.

hi, beam stretching we can do now with the system line (there are more ways) in any direction in the UCS, we can stretch in every direction we want. In some particular ocasions this is handy but in the most cases you want to stretch over the system line in the direction of the beam(orthogonally) Can't there be a switch made in the MT for on/off function for the stretch function over the system line only? thanks

Having used Advance Steel for 16 years, before cameras were functional enough to be useful, I got very quick at creating GA drawings by just creating views based on the UCS. I keep giving cameras a go as they have the benefit of being able to modify the view window after drawing creation, but I still find them quite time consuming to set up compared to just creating views on the UCS, either with full extents or picking 2 points for the view window. ...so to make cameras easier to use I suggest the following: 1. With a fixed XY viewport, when grip editing, it moves the opposite side as well, keeping the centre in place. I find this far from ideal and just want to be able to grip edit one side and the other stay where it is. This would make it far easier to define the window you want. 2. Multi Edit - if you want to change the drawing style for multiple cameras, a multi edit does not work and only changes one of them. Multi edit capability would be useful. 3. Change Drawing style - if you change the drawing style associated with the camera, it does not affect an existing drawing view - you have to delete and re-create the drawing (or manually apply new style from within drawing using the DSM). Auto update of the view to a newly selected drawing style would be better. 4. Duplicates - once drawing views of cameras have been created, it should not be possible to create them again (via an MT default?). This would make it easier to create any missing views etc. 5. Grouping - it makes sense to create GA drawings in a logical way such as plans, then elevations, sections etc. Whilst there are several types of camera available, a few more types would be useful. 6. Draw order - the drawing views seem to be created in order that the cameras were created. Some way to set a specific draw order (so relevant views get placed on same drawing) would be useful. 7. Mirror - it would be usefult to mirror a camera for a view the opposite end of a building. However this results in the camera being upside down! I know a copy rotate will work, but the ability to mirror would be good. 8. User Attributes - when you have many cameras, they get difficult to see which is which. At least one user attribute field (plus any other new fields for the above functionality) that could be used in the Search & Mark Objects tool would make it much easier to find certain cameras to edit or create drawings from.

In lieu of current media concerning racial issues and a respect for our clientele, might I advocate rebranding master for Parent and slave for child for the prompts when using "Create joint in a joint group," toolset in Advance Steel. This is a change long time coming and would be great to see it implemented in the next release/ fix or update. Why not immediately! Our clients’ needs always comes first. The new "Create detail" dialog is pointless and just an extra step/click in the drawing creation process. Why change what already worked fine? 1. I ALWAYS need to change drawing name, prototype or scale and sometimes all 3 - it depends on each case, but NEVER the defaults. Why? ...because the default drawing start number is set to 100 for a reason - so that drawings created by a process do not "steal" the drawing numbers that you would want reserved for your GA (overview) drawings. ...so I would ALWAYS need to change this (until you have separate default start numbers for manual and process created drawings). Also prototype and scale are dependent on what the drawing is of and so often are different. 2. If you DID want to create a drawing with the default settings, again just go directly to the main dialog - user only has to click the OK button - one click either way! ...so for most cases where changes are required, this new functionality is another unnecessary click. ...and for the very rare case where the default settings would be OK, it is still only one click whether this dialog is displayed or not. Hence it is completely pointless at best and another hurdle to productivity in most instances. Please can this be taken back out or at least have a MT default to avoid it being displayed.

Hi, Labels for holes in AS2020 are AWESOME! Can we please have the same behavior implemented for labels for bolts. Leader to be CENTERED, and offset appr. 1.125 x hole radius. Leaders to "jump" to other bolts in same bolt group the same way as leaders for holes' labels. Regards,

It would be helpful if the section view title had an available token of "Scale". I often scale up my section views of an erection drawing. Currently, I have to manually input the scale and when I update the detail, I have to re-input the scale.

Hi Udo, These are the same lines that you put in archives, I do not mean to be pain in the neck, but for your side to pretend this is not important and it has been seen before and to discard it is a wrong move. You can make 100's of make up 'improvements', but to leave Advance lacking the first few items is not the right way to go. I have been discussing with colleagues these for years now, and people are making fun of Advance for the first few items on the list. You tried to make something about the dimensions being messed-up during detail update-it is not working. As other users said-please roll back to 2010 version - it may look better. What we are asking is-please do not put in archives and forget about them. Once dimensions have been adjusted - block dimension updates during dwg update, and if a dimension needs to be changed-either make it Red or Cloud it, we will move points or delete points as necessary manually. This has to be an option, and it has to be in detail view dialog window. Not in MT. User will make decision whatever dimensions to be updated manually or automatically depending on the project. Option 'Force dimensions update' in detail view in case we need to update dimensions using default dimension requests, this is less possible, but there is a chance to need this option-from detail view, not in MT. Once labels are moved or deleted-do not update / move them, make them red or cloud them, we will update or move manually if it is necessary, this has to be an option in detail view and let user decide which way to go. Prevent compass mark to move or appear during detail update if it is moved or deleted-an option to be included similar to 1 and 2 lines Prevent detail cut view title form moving during detail update Make depth of view available again in detail dwgs creation, new 2017.1 dialog is terrible 6. Make batch plot to a selected destination folder from DM 7. Make possible revving down or editing revision for all dwgs, not one by one 8. Make option to output SELECTED external lists only, to be printed as PDF files, as separate files, having the name of the list. Selection to be kept and to be ready for the next revision if necessary. 9. Balloon Detail view of a part of a detail view similar to AutoCAD Mechanical 10. Anchor bolts-please see previous posts-need total improvement. 11.Prevent labels for beams in GA dwgs to jump over adjacent beams 12. Fix the bug not showing leader in manually placed labels-for example-MP plate, MP Beam even when setup is made leaders to be shown. 13.Option to send section view to a new or already created dwg
