After close & distribute of Submittal: when you export report to create coversheet - you do not get the option to exclude workflow pages. My client does not need to see the internal review team process, only final answers/attachments. I have to manually delete these after every report is created before sending out. Hi all,   Today, I’d like to discuss my suggestions for improving the Submittals tool. This tool is very similar to the Reviews tool, with nearly identical core functionality, but the flexibility for project admins is much more limited compared to Reviews. Would it be possible to extend the Submittals functions with the same features as in Reviews? This shouldn’t be too difficult since the functionality already exists in the software. For example, adding the option to choose between calendar and working days, which is currently unavailable in the Submittals tool but available in Reviews. Another issue is that you can’t prepare Submittal templates in the project template, whereas the Reviews tool allows this. Speaking of templates, would it be possible to release API endpoints for both Reviews and Submittals, specifically GET and POST, to enable automatic posting of both tool templates to new projects?   I believe these suggestions would significantly enhance the usability of both tools.   Thanks and see you!  Show More

In AutoSpecs, items from multiple specification sections can be merged into a single submittal item. Once merged & published, there is no visible indication of which spec sections the combined item covers, so reviewers must dig through the description or attachments. Proposed Solution: Automatically capture and display a field listing the merged section numbers as a concatenated string (e.g. 03 10 00, 03 20 00, 03 30 00), visible on the item, filterable/sortable, and carried through to exports. Benefit: reviewers see at a glance which sections a submittal covers, speeding review, reducing missed sections, and improving spec-to-submittal traceability. We recently discovered when testing this tool (Build / Specifications / Generated Submittals) that once the list is populated, we can't sort by section, which seems like a very valuable way to read through the information.   It would also be great to be able to sort/group things (i.e. by section) to navigate the tool more easily when needed. The Submittals module lacks webhook support, requiring integrations to poll repeatedly for changes to submittal status, reviews, and approvals. This creates unnecessary API load and introduces latency in downstream workflows. Event-driven webhooks for Submittals would allow integrations to respond instantly when a submittal is created, updated, or changes status — without constant polling. In the Submittals module, the Spec Section field is mandatory. However, it currently has to be created manually for each project. It would be highly beneficial to have options to import Spec Sections via Excel or configure them within the project template to avoid repetitive manual setup. Additionally, integrating or linking Spec Sections directly with the Specifications module would further improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in managing submittal data across the project. There is currently the ability to upload a custom cover page but this requires uploading each time.  Could a cover page template that has fields prefilled based on the project/submittal be uploaded once and a single click to add to the submittal? Show More

When setting up the submittal steps, the user is required to assign a duration to each review step. If the total contractual time is 14 days they may set it up like this: Step 1- Architect 2 days Step 2- Engineer 10 days Step 3- Architect 2 days Back to Contractor If the architect takes 4 days to send the submittal in step 1 then the due date for step 2 is 10 days from that date, not the original due date of step 2. So in reality the submittal is “behind” but will not show behind once it is pushed to step 2. Then the architect will still have two days in step 3 before returning to JED. Thus, making the submittal review two days longer than the contractual 14 days.   The request: the submittal module should have you put in a total review duration, and then you should break it up into ideal durations, but if one of those steps is delayed it does not revise the “due date” for the whole submittal. We would like to request a “Copy All” function for Submittal attachments in Forma Build. This feature would allow users to copy multiple attachments at once, instead of manually copying them one by one. The submittals module should auto-populate with the Specification Sections that are uploaded to the Specifications module. Currently, when creating a submittal, the specification sections have to be entered manually, which is time consuming and leaves room for error. Since the Specifications are already posted to the Specifications module, the sections already be included in the dropdown menu when you are creating a submittal.  Show More

Attachments to submittals are far down the page under the revision tabs and activity log until they are approved. Moving the latest attachment to the top of the page will help subcontractors locate the attachment, especially when it is returned to them to revise and resubmit.  Subcontractors can get used to seeing the returned submittal attachment at the top of the page from approved submittals and then they're confused when it isn't there and they need to review the attachment to create a revision. In Submittals: When a submitter submits multiple files you have to download all files to an external folder to combine in a 3rd party product.  The only other option is once downloaded to the external folder is for the manager to start the review process and open one file to review and import the other files saved in the external folder.  We need something at this step that can combine files within the review process without exiting the review or having to downloading the multiple files externally.
