Current Limitation Currently, only Project Admins can add or edit milestones on the Project Home timeline in Forma Build. This creates a limitation for companies that need specific team members to maintain project dates and milestones without giving those users full Project Admin permissions. Requested Improvement – Milestone Permissions Add a specific permission for managing the Project Home timeline and milestones. For example: View – View the project timeline and milestones. Manage – Add, edit, and remove project milestones. This permission should be assignable to individual members, roles, or companies without requiring the user to be made a Project Admin. This would allow Project Managers, Project Engineers, Model Coordinators, or other designated team members to maintain project milestones without also giving them unnecessary administrative access to project settings, member permissions, and other administrative functions. Requested Improvement – Connect Build Schedule to the Project Home Timeline The Forma Build Schedule tool should also integrate directly with the Project Home timeline. Currently, the Schedule tool can contain the project's master schedule, including activities and milestones, while the Project Home timeline uses separately created milestones. This results in duplicate information that must be maintained manually in two different locations. There should be an option to select milestones from the Build Schedule and display them automatically on the Project Home timeline. Ideally, administrators or Schedule Managers could: Select which Schedule milestones appear on the Project Home timeline. Automatically update the Project Home milestone date when the corresponding Schedule milestone changes. Identify that a milestone is linked to the Build Schedule rather than manually created. Remove a Schedule milestone from the Project Home timeline without deleting it from the master Schedule. Continue adding standalone Project Home milestones when a milestone does not need to exist in the master Schedule. Why This Is Needed The Project Home timeline is intended to provide a quick, high-level overview of project progress. The Build Schedule is already the centralized location for managing the project's schedule and key dates. Having these operate independently creates unnecessary duplicate data entry and increases the possibility that the Project Home timeline becomes outdated or conflicts with the actual project schedule. Connecting the two would allow the Project Home timeline to serve as a simplified, high-level view of the project's current Schedule milestones while the Schedule tool remains the detailed source of truth. Combined with granular milestone permissions, this would allow companies to give the appropriate team members responsibility for maintaining project schedule information without requiring them to have full Project Admin access.
