In Autodesk Forma, I really like the ability to create assets by drawing polygons or polylines directly on the drawings. This is a very powerful feature, especially for tracking field progress. One enhancement that would make this even more useful would be the ability to associate multiple polygons or polylines with a single asset. Currently, it appears to be limited to one polygon or polyline per asset. For example, I use assets to track ductwork releases on a project. When our foremen review the drawings, they can quickly see the status of each ductwork release, whether it has not started, is being processed in the shop, has shipped to the site, is currently being installed, or has been completed. I use this same asset-tracking approach for equipment as well, and it has been extremely valuable. However, ductwork releases do not always fit into one continuous polygon area. A single ductwork release may cover multiple separated areas on a drawing. Being able to assign multiple polygons or polylines to one asset would allow the asset to more accurately represent the actual scope of that release while still maintaining one status, one record, and one source of tracking. This would make asset tracking much more practical for trade contractors and field teams using Autodesk Forma to manage installation progress.
