The Problem In our structural department, we frequently link Civil DWGs from both internal and external consultants. Each time we link a DWG, we must manually adjust the view templates by turning specific layers on or off to achieve the desired display. At the moment, we work around this by using a dummy DWG link to store our preferred layer settings within the view template. This process feels inefficient, and the way DWG layer states are handled could be significantly improved. Possible Solution When linking Revit models, we can control visibility in view templates using the linked model’s worksets. Similarly, AutoCAD files use saved layer states to manage visibility. It would be highly beneficial if Revit could recognize and allow us to apply these saved layer states from CAD links directly within view templates—just as we do with worksets. Show More

In Revit 2022, we could use the Shift key to select all the Revit links and unload the files at once. However, in Revit 2025, I`m no longer able to do this. I cannot click the unload button when I select multiple files, so I have to unload each file one by one, this is quite time-consuming, CAD links doesn`t have this issue, so I`m wondering if Revit links can be fixed?    And one more thing I`d like to suggest, would it be possible to allow adding multiple Revit files at once (for example, use Shift to select all files)? so that we don`t have to add each link file one by one.   Thank you very much. I would love to have more options for the V/G Overrides RVT Links so I can select which settings I want to use in my view template.  I work in a Structural Engineering firm and if I apply a view template to my framing plans it resets the architectural floor level to what is in the template.  Which means if I need to change the V/G settings, and want to apply it to all framing levels, I either have to apply the template and then go back to each view and change the linked view level, or  I make the V/G changes on each level.  Both are time consuming on large projects and could be trouble with new or infrequent users. Overview: We are requesting the ability to assign and control Design Options within linked Revit models via instance parameters in the host model. Current Limitation: When a Revit model containing multiple Design Options is linked into another model (such as a site or masterplan), the displayed design option must be manually set per view via Visibility/Graphics (VG). This is view-specific, not instance-specific, and cannot be controlled parametrically or scheduled - making it impractical for large-scale developments. Real-World Context: I work for one of the top 10 house builders in the UK, where we regularly deliver large residential masterplans with over 100 housing units per site. Each housetype may have multiple variants (Detached, Semi, End-Terrace), and we need to swap between these variants frequently during feasibility and planning stages. The lack of instance-level control over Design Options is the sole reason we still produce our early feasibility layouts in AutoCAD. This missing functionality severely limits the potential for full adoption of Revit in the early design and option testing phases. I’m confident that enabling this feature would significantly accelerate the transition from AutoCAD to Revit for large residential developers across the UK and beyond. Proposed Feature: Introduce a new instance parameter (e.g., "Design Option Override") on Revit Link instances, allowing users to select which Design Option should be displayed per instance, rather than globally or per view. Benefits: Massive time savings on large developments. Clean, scalable workflows for residential layouts. Avoids bloating the model with multiple linked files for each variant. Enables BIM-driven feasibility and planning, rather than 2D CAD workarounds. Improves Revit adoption across large design teams and developers. it would be very nice to ad these features for sloped pipes: - Make the fittings a bit more tolerant: some fittings seem with work fine with 1/8"slope, but not with 1/4" slope. - Make Revit aware of the direction of slope when i add pipe. IF i add pipe to a pipe that slopes up, and Wye, or just a pipe extension should automatically default to sloping up  - Let us set a default slope based on pipe size (our code prescribes slope based on size for most pipes) - iterate through multiple fittings (if multiple are selected in routing options) if the top fitting doesn't work.  - allow elevation/pipe size/slope changes of parts of the piping system without breaking the system.  - Allow moving of Wye and other fittings up and down the sloped pipe without breaking everything.  Show More

✨ Problem: When editing a loaded family in a Revit project, upon reloading it back into the project, Revit only gives us two options: Overwrite the existing family and its parameter values. Overwrite the existing family but preserve existing parameter values. However, both options replace the original family and do not allow keeping the original version. Never in my 10 year experience working with Revit have I gotten the message can't keep elements joined when trimming lines and thought: "man, I really wish those lines were still joined"...   So I suggest we don't need this pop-up anymore, unless of course many other people do see the use in this. We have room schedules that we commonly want to sequence by level elevation which is a schedulable property for the levels. Unfortunately host level properties aren't exposed within spatial element schedules.    Many naming conventions for levels mean that when we have rooms in multiple files like a master plan Revit won't sequence correctly in schedules meaning people need to undertake manual workarounds by adding a sort sequence parameter for spatial elements.    We along with many other practices use B for Basements e.g. B1, B2 etc, M for Mezzanine e.g. M1, M2, R for Roof e.g. R1, R2.   Therefore levels would sequence like this 00,01,02,B1,B2,M1,R1.    Current workaround require a numerical sequence adding to the rooms so that they can scheduled correctly, however this requires constant management as new rooms are added regularly to our designs and models.  I would like to propose that the linked level properties are exposed within the spatial schedules so that we can add the Level Elevation or a custom Level sequence parameter to a the schedule to enable sorting, or that the levels sort by elevation correctly when links are included like that do in the parent model.      Show More

When uploading parameters to the Autodesk Cloud Parameter Service today, users have no way to choose which parameters to transfer when selecting 'active model'. Instead, they must resort to work-arounds: Clean the model. Strip out every unwanted parameter so that only the ones you want remain, then upload. Use a Shared Parameter file. But this sacrifices the convenience of the “Active Model” option (see red rectangle in screenshot). Proposed Workflow Upload to Cloud Parameter Service User selects Active Model (or Shared Parameter File / Text-File Import). Ask user for confirmation to get all parameters from the model Display a multi-select list of all shared parameters in the model. Adjust Categories Give the user the option to change the applied categories for each shared parameter (for example to add revit categories which become available in new revit versions. Give the user the option to change standard categories in the properties menu, like Identity Data, Underlay, Graphics, etc. Final Confirmation from the user to transfer the shared parameters to the Cloud Parameter Service   Steps 4–6 would also be useful when importing from a Shared Parameter file, as this format has no category-and-property metadata. I would like to be able to include keynote symbols (customizable, hexagon, triangle, circle, square etc.) within the keynote schedule around the number that they already correlate with. Preferably the same file and symbol as the keynote family. Evan a separate family that can be loaded into both the keynote and into the schedule would work.  I think its comical that such a basic and standard practice of architecture was overlooked in a program designed for specifically for architecture.   Show More

In a text box, when selecting a block of text to replace, typing new text does not replace the selected block of text; in fact, it does nothing at all. In order to replace the selected text, you must first delete or backspace to clear the selected block of text, then start typing. This is different behavior than every other text editor in every other application and is so very counter-intuitive. Please, update the text box so that selected text will be replaced by typed text like every other text editor in every other application on planet earth for consistency and sanity, please, and thank you.
