The interface for "Physical Material" and "Appearance" is inconsistent with other commands, and very confusing. Problems 1. In the contextual menu (available by right-click) for bodies in the browser, other commands are meant to apply some actions to the selected body. On the other hand, "Physical Material" command simply opens a window of materials, from which you have to drag a selection back to the body in the browser. This is very confusing, because you expect that by selecting a material in the window you can change the material of the body, but nothing happens. This confusion is caused by inconsistent usage of commands in the menu. 2. In the pop-up menu for "Physical Material" and "Appearance", it is not clear what should be done. Other commands, such as "Texture Map Controls", there is "Selection", so people understand that something should be selected to make a change. Dragging physical material to selected bodies is a completely different method, and thus inconsistent with other commands. Here are my proposals. 1. Remove "Physical Material" and "Appearance" from the menu for bodies in the browser. Those commands are available in the contextual menu you get by right-clicking empty space, and that is sufficient. 2. In the window that pops up by selecting "Properties" in the menu for bodies in the browser, make the "Physical Material" and "Visual Material" selectable through a chain of menus. 3. In the pop-up window for "Physical Material" and "Appearance", add "Selection" at the top, just as other commands. By selecting bodies before or after opening the window, and selecting a material, the selected material should be applied to all the selected bodies. No dragging and dropping.
