This should be easy to add I would think.   Currently, if I have previously turned the sketch grid off, and go to create a primitive like a box, when I select my plane the sketch grid is off with no way to turn it back on. The only way to do so currently is to stop the primitive, open/create a sketch and turn it back on, exit, and start primitive again.   I would suggest having the primitive dialog box pop up immediately, and have a check box in it for sketch grid. It's obviously a very small thing, and should be a priority. But I have ran into this now quite a few times, and it just makes the flow feel clunky. Show More

In trying to create a way of limiting a rectangular pattern for the Split Body tool I've deleted a section of a hexagon only to find Fusion throws up this error:   And if I continue to delete lines in other hexagons the program quickly crashes.   It would be ideal if there was the ability to dissolve a pattern in a sketch.   Thanks   Nate           Show More

I often switch between Model and Patch mode based on what I am working on.   I also make a lot of use of the new toolbox which is nice since it is modeling space sensitive.   I would thus be great if via  hot key one could switch between the modes instead of having to move with the mouse to the space selector.   The same would also be true for exiting a editing sketch mode   Show More

With the added additons of the CAM side of fusion branching out to laser/waterjet/plasma etc. I would like to be able to draw simple part gemoetry in the 2D environment and that can then be sent to be posted in the CAM environment.   Working in a sheet metal job shop I do create some simple 2D geometry wether it is a simple rectangle shape with a few holes, a ring to act as a spacer or a lift eye for a panel or skid. I only need to create 2D geometry which can be placed on a title block (for ISO purposes) and used to for post processing at a laser/waterjet/plasma. Items like this I don't need to go fully 3D but still need to keep a record of.    A model space with simple parametric drawing features in the 2D drawing environment would be great.   Thank you Show More

Happened upon this     and after watching, couldn't help thinking that with a bit of work, you could build lighting, surface and subsurface models, an unbiased renderer, and a bit of post processing that would make it easy for users to make photorealistic renderings.   Wouldn't expect the results to be as good as things done by hand by a professional, but you should be able to nail a well lit freshly machined aluminum part, or metal extrusion, plastic, glass, etc.   If you gave people a bit of control about the lighting environment, background, lens flare / etc, and how much dust / grime is on things, users who aren't digital artists could almost make print-ready shots in the app Show More

I would like to know why equally spaced lines produced via sketch "circular pattern", in my case 8 equally spaced around 360 degrees, cannot be trimmed or extended. Show More

For example, if I have a body with an angled hole inside, I want to be able to insert a section view aligned along the axis of the hole, and then do things like add centerlines to the hole, dimension the distance to some center point of the hole on its axis, and so on. It is clear the Fusion is not aware of feature edges that are created by sections, such as the edge of a hole revealed by sectioning. (The same thing happens when trying to inspect a sectioned hole in the model space.) I suppose that is understandable, because a hole has no edges in the 3D body, but one can hope. A workaround might be to be able to sketch on drawings and then dimension the sketch entities. Show More

I would like to see "Restore Defaults" in the Preferences menu to have an option to only restore defaults in the current page. With so many great new features and functions being added I'm encouraged to toy around with various settings. Sometimes I go too far and Restore Defaults works well, but it resets everything in Preferences, including settings I've meticulously configured to get Fusion just right.   Would prefer to have a way to only reset the current page I'm on and/or reset everything.  Show More

Turns out that the Idea Tags section when submitting a feature request or bug does not like the "&" symbol. Resulted in an error stating something along the lines of "please fix the highlighted section" - yet nothing was highlighted to fix.   Worked it out on my own and then found that it had posted it anyway, so my idea got posted twice.....also not cool. Not sure if this is a bug or not but when you import a mesh via the new Mesh Import feature and then go to drag & drop an STL into the same model the scales end up out of whack, even if it is the same file...I've attached screen-grab for reference and as you can see there is a difference in scale by a factor of about 10...     I found this when I tried to insert my files from within my Fusion 360 cloud project browser after having used the import mesh feature  in the new mesh work space.....really should allow drag and drop, that was one of the benefits of loading files up to the cloud in the first place rather than keeping them local. I would like the OK button to be near the top of windows, rather than at the bottom. Pressing the return key requires user to lift right hand from mouse, and reach the keyboard. Muscular effort on all the arm. Reaching the ok button with the mouse requires contraction of the hand to scroll to the bottom of the window. I use the offset frequently. Since I need precise values, I enter the value in the keypad. Then, most of the times, I find that I have to invert that value to get the offset to go in the direction wanted.   What I am suggesting is to use a modifier key to quickly assign a negative value to the entered number, thereby automatically changing the direction. Every time a user manually saves a design, the version description is set to «User Saved». This might as well just be a random, non-descriptive string.   Why not provide a brief summary of the last action a user performed (or a list of actions). It'd be much more useful to say «created user parameters» or «created sketch».   Given that this is (more or less) version control, it might be good to have some sort of guideline to writing good commit messages like Short (50 chars or less) summary of changes More detailed explanatory text, if necessary. Wrap it to about 72 characters or so. In some contexts, the first line is treated as the subject of an email and the rest of the text as the body. The blank line separating the summary from the body is critical (unless you omit the body entirely); tools like rebase can get confused if you run the two together. Further paragraphs come after blank lines. - Bullet points are okay, too - Typically a hyphen or asterisk is used for the bullet, preceded by a single space, with blank lines in between, but conventions vary here   To that end, it'd also be great to have the description have space for a multi-line commit message rather than just a short set of words  Show More

This came up in another thread but I often see and hear people say «rule #1 of F360 is that you should always start by creating and activating a component».   That seems wildly unintuitive / non-obvious and is a sign that something is broken and people are working around it with a kludge.. but if that is the recommended way to go about starting new designs, then why not autocreate and activate the first component for them when a new design is created ?  Show More

I see that when I promote a body to an component (via option Create Components from Bodies), the object gets renamed in the browser to ComponentX.1 (where X is simply the next component created for the project in the sequence). This can be annoying, esp if the name of the body was long and carefully named. Show More

In the relationship popup menu, please add a co-radial relationship.  The concentric option isn't doing it for me.  It would nice to be able to set a dimension on say a circle or eliptical shape, and without having to use the "offset" command, draw a new curve, circle, or eclipse and set a co-radial relationship to an existing sketch shape.  Solidworks has this feature in relationships for reference.   v/r   Nico Show More

Hello,   The grid tab is a fairly useful tab, allowing flexibility the item details page sometimes does not. An issue I find with the grid is that it does not trigger updates on the item details/onedit script. so if add data to the grid and that data is then used somewhere else, in another workspace etc, I would need a workflow action to be performed to push this update accross.   Can it be made so that when the grid is edited, it runs the onedit script?   Thanks! First impressions are pretty good, however I think it would be more encouraging for designers accustomed to other applications like Rhino for instance to be able to tweak the interface closer to what they're using.  For instance the orbit function that requires the middle mouse button and the shift key.  That's a bit tedious. I would really love to have a simple machine control panel inside Fusion 360. I am thinking of printrun style or the machine control panel from simplify 3D. Just a simple jog control, communication and ability to initiate a g code to play from SD card.   Having such a feature would allow me and other (DIY/Home CNC users with simple machines) to use Fusion 360 from concept to realisation without using any additional software.   At the moment I have to switch over to Simplify 3D (at the last hurdle) to jog my machine, set zeros and initiate playing the g code (that I uploaded from within Fusion 360).   I think a real simple way to communicate with the machine would be a brilliant addition, especially for mac users for whom there is little on offer.   Show More

It's been clarified for me that the concept of a Setup in Fusion's CAM environment is the placement of material to be machined in a given position in the machine.  Then you have operations which are contained in a Setup and represent the use of a given tool in a particular way on that material.  Users (especially ones for whom bit changes are a fully manual process) seem to want something to represent the group of operations associated with a particular Tool (bit), and are sometimes using multiple Setups to represent this even though that's not the intent of the data model.  A Folder is an option, but it has some shortcomings.   A Setup has a tab which can contain post processing info, a Folder does not.  So if you're using a Folder to represent the .nc file generated for a set of operations on a bit you'll have to specify the file details every time you do this.  Also a Folder doesn't allow you to specify a Tool which would be a good documentation point if it were being used as such.   Users of CNC's with tool changers don't seem to care as much about grouping operations by Tools, but I'd think that would at least be a time optimization to group them.   So I'm envisioning the following: Currently when you start CAM a wizard pops up to create a Setup.  I envision a similar wizard popping up to create a Tool as the primary child object of a Setup.  This Tool object would have the same post processing info tab as the Setup and would also have the Tool information currently in an Operation.  Then Operations would be added to Tools.  This would seem to provide a place for all the pieces of information at the right levels of abstraction.   If that's a bridge too far, then maybe a shorter term approach would be to at least add the post processing info tab to the current Folder object. I would like the ability to show the origin within a component, click on one of the green/red/blue axes and change their orientation: Simply to be able to switch red for green, green for blue, etc. The main reason for this right now is that the Animation workspace "auto explode" commands are functionally useless if all of your design's components don't have the same axis orientation (which they often don't). I've attached a screenshot of what the "auto explode" does on one of my designs.. note the trail lines show that components explode in all different directions. This essentially means that the "auto explode" feature (a major draw of animation I'd assume) is broken and that it has to be done manually instead. I would like a comma separated value list of the exterior dimensions of components.  I can currently manually create a list by looking at the properties of each component under Bounding Box and get the information.  I feel like a script could easily collect and output that information but it is beyond me.   The output would hopefully look something like:   "ComponentName",27,"mm",16,"mm",5,"mm"   where "mm" is in design units. What I want is an option for entering the X Y and Z coordinates on the Move dialog whereby the move is calculated to be from the current location to the values entered. To do that now (and usually I am trying to move a point) I have to select the point and note the current position, press M, and use a calculator to determine the deltas needed to get from here to there and enter my calculations in the boxes.   In cases like these, I am trying to replicate a portion of some existing object design, working from physical measurements, usually starting my sketch based around the origin. I want to preserve the parametric abilities so I can take advantage of them as my drawing evolves.   This should not require much core change as best I can see, it is changing the dialog to allow the computer to figure it out rather than requiring me to use a calculator. I don't think I would want this new behavior to be the default, I only want it to happen if I click on something (perhaps a little icon like the ones for move pivot and such). Basically, when specified, I want my resulting relative move amount to be "entry minus current position" instead of just the entry amount. Show More

It'd be incredibly awesome if push/pull (and other modifications) could include snaps when the center of mass (/ principle axes of the moments of inertia) are in specific positions (/orientations).   Simple example: you want to balance a body by placing the center of mass at the origin. Start with a block, cut part of it out on one side, and push/pull the other side so the mass exactly (to machine precision) matches the mass on the cut side to balance it perfectly.   You could also add something to snap when principle axes of moments of inertia align (to each other or global basis, and to snap when two or more become degenerate) Show More

  Pull is a nice function to make T splines fit scan data, but it falls short in some cases and I think we need more control.   I want to be able to snap 3d sketch entitys to a mesh.  Points, lines, splines, etc.  effectivaly drawing directly on the scan data as a first step in creating surface models.   If there is already way to do this, or something similar, please comment.   Thanks Show More

It would be great to have the ability to set up a custom numbering scheme for Components in Fusion.   I wish it could be something like what has been availbale in Autodesk Vault for some time already: http://help.autodesk.com/view/VAULT/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-F5356B61-194B-45BF-8B92-31C299A37206   Imagine after defining the format for the numbering(s) you want to use, you could use a auto-generated number from the scheme to apply to design files, as well as components within a design. When saving a new design file, or when creating a new component inside a design file, you could get a message box where you could select which numbering scheme to apply, and it would create a new number from it (the next available one). Similar, you could right-click on a Component, select rename, and get the same message box again, for applying a new number to let's say an imported component.   The reason for wanting this is, beacuse at some point further down the line, after exporting your BOM for further use in PLM and ERP-systems, I would want to have part numbers (file names) at a unified format, without risk of typing errors or duplicate numbers.   I hope the above makes sense. This is what I have used for many years with Inventor and Vault, and I believe it is absolutely necessary to have a feature like this in Fusion, atleast for proffesional CAD users.  Show More

I recently wanted to chamfer all edges of a part but leave just one edge unchamfered.   I couldn't find an easy way to do this other than selecting the whole contour, selecting the complete contour again so it turns red, clicking the U-shaped icon in the HUD, selecting all the edges I wanted chamfered leaving only a single edge unselected and then clicking the green 'plus' sign to add the selected edges to the contour.  Although this worked, it could be a long-winded effort, especially if there are many edges or small edges that are easily missed.   Would it be possible to have an extra option via the HUD where you could select the one (or more) edge you didn't want and then click a button to select the inverse of what you have highlighted? It seems that a big part of the collaboration process involves informal commenting on designs in order to assign work or tasks required to finish a design. A more formal process or way to capture this information would be really helpful for planning and tracking work.    Hooking into the comment workflow and system could be the ability to assign a task to a project member. Comments that are flagged as a task get greater visibility until marked as complete.   In A360 a user can view tasks that have been assigned to them for a particular project. At the moment comments appear in the activity window but get pushed to the bottom quite quickly, if any of those comments are a request for work to be completed then it is easy to lose that information. A 'Tasks' or 'My Work' panel in a similar style to Activity that displays tasks for a project or at a top level would be great.   Possible extension: If the calendar functionality returned to A360 the tasks could be assigned a due date and placed on the calendar. DETECT SCROLL WHEEL EVENT - after closing tool operation dialog START TOOL PATH SIMULATION **SCRUBBER MODE ** 1) Tool path simulation for the most recent tool operation is shown with previous sim settings: stock, transparency, etc. 2) Simulation can be scrubbed through using the mouse scroll wheel.  3) Returns to the ‘position in time’ last used - Kind of a ‘pick up where you left off’   This would allow the user to make a change and instantly see that change reflected in the tool path simulation with a quick flick of the scroll wheel. There are way too many steps (clicks) involved in making a change to a machine operation and then actually seeing the change in the simulation..    I am pretty new to CAD/CAM and I cant even begin to imagine how frustrating it would be without Fusion... seriously. Thank you guys for all your hard work.    -Jerred Schuh   Show More
