Not sure if I missed how to do this, or if it's even possible, but would be neat to have an option to swap a component in a large assembly with a temporary place-holder "proxy part", much like the option in After Effects with low_res footage when doing routine edits and then up-sample for the final render.
A project I'm working on has one component which, when exported to STL amounted to a size of 464MB, of threaded bars and M8 nuts which is only one small part of a much larger set up. It by itself is already SLOW, so including that complex setup into another much larger more complex assembly then cripples everything to a micro crawl, which ironically offers some great meditation time.
Unless I missed a very fundamental function or design process, I don't see how this could be avoided as designs become more complex without the ability to include "reduced proxies".
Thanks,
