When we create the IPT that will be used for an IDE file, we can change the line type, weight, and color of individual lines that will be used for the IDE 2D sketch representation. However, once we convert that to an IDE file, it keeps the sketch but none of the formatting will carry over to the IDE. It would be useful to extract the entire Inventor nesting study as dxf. When a single page is extracted, there is header and nesting report summary. Therefore, it is necessary to look at Inventor again for the most basic data such as the material and material thickness of the exported drawing.    If the entire study is extracted, it will be easier to manage and separate the drawing.  Show More

I frequently use multi-body part files to create complex sheet metal assemblies.  I would love to see the ability where, when using the Make Components feature, you could select all or a range of Templates & set to a single template IPT (ie: select first Template, press shift, select last Template in your range. right click & select the IPT template file).  Currently, I have to select each individual solid & set each template IPT one by one.  Time-consuming when you have dozens of solids to select.   Show More

Now, when exporting from Inventor to DWG, each sheet is exported as separate file, therefore, if you want one single DWG with all drawings and sheets, it has to be combined manually or by importing each layout in CAD. It would be great if Inventor can export multiple sheets into one single DWG CAD, with all drawings in the model tab and sheets in the layout tabs. Show More

When creating a 2D drawing of a parts using inventor, can marked lines come into the drawing as a different layer so they can be set as a different colour, This feature is there when you export a part but not when you are making a drawing of that part.   Left is how it currently works, right is how I'm suggesting it work.    Show More

Hi I have a need for a feature, that we are missing more or less every day.  We are constructing HVAC units, and we have lot of different "SheetMetal" parts that are Isolation as the suppliers needs DXF cutting files. The problem is that the different isolations can go in steps of mm from like 5mm to 250mm,and there is like 40 different materials. and maintaining 10.000 different Sheet material rules, will be very time comsuming.   Now the improvement! When you right click on a solid, and pressing "Set Sheet Metal Rule" for the individual solids, it will be very helpful, if this would have the same functionality as as pressing the "Sheet Metal Default" where, you can remove the mark, of "Use Thickness from Rule" and the same, as using a different material pr Solid instances.   Show More

In our company, we utilize a small corner radius for sheet metal output. Our laser cutting machine is unable to produce a minimum corner radius on its own.   The method involves using the flat pattern to apply only small radii to the sheet metal flat pattern, as there are no performance issues. Utilizing the feature option allows for the quick addition of a small radius to all sharp corners of the sheet metal. However, a problem consistently arises when the length of an edge is equal to the thickness of the sheet metal. I am very interested in understanding why the sheet metal corner round sometimes rounds the incorrect edges. This behavior also occurs in the sheet metal non-flat pattern.   Is there a way to provide an option for Inventor to ignore the incorrect edges?   Kind regards,   Jeroen   Show More

Please Add to the Hole Feature tool, Slot, Hex and Square Holes.   Reason: The hole feature has a few benefits over other methods of creating shaped holes and would really increase the friendliness of the program for the users. It is often over looked b/c you can do most of the stuff hole feature can already do using sketches and using the shapes there... But Hole Feature is better b/c it uses allows the use of automatic Hole Tables. And it also can provide recommended hole clearances for various sizes fasteners. It's just much faster and simpler too. Currently we are using punches in sheet metal to help us remember what the hole clearances are. But Punches do not function the same way as holes. Not to mention if you don't include custom sizes in those punches and now you have to delete the feature. Where-as the hole tool you can just edit the feature and easily adjust as needed. Plus the constraints are easy too.   I think it also works better with iMates but I could be wrong.   Example of Holes     This suggestion kinda duplicates the Hole Feature request for Slots as seen in all these links.
