Whenever the engineer desires to simply replace a component within an assembly, he/she is required to use the Windows file-open UI to drill down through multiple network drive folders just to get to the actual part to replace with. As you can see, this is mind-numbingly time consuming. As it stands, if the Inventor user wants to flip the view direction of an already defined section view in their part/assembly model, he/she must first delete the pre-existing section view, and then redefine the same section view, albeit with the viewing direction flipped. Wow, that's a whole lot of work that could be easily alleviated with a simple 'Flip View' option under the existing section view drop-down menu in the GUI. I would like to be able to export sheets in series to a graphic format (e.g. png). When I prepare drawings for an industrial design application, I have to first export the drawing to PDF, and then convert the pdf to jpg or png.   The ideal scenario is when I export a pdf in 2400 or 4800 resolution and then convert it to jpg in 300 or 500 resolution. Then everything is legible and aesthetic. But exporting the drawing directly to png 300 produces very illegible and unsightly graphics.   Ideally, graphic export would automatically change the paper color to white.       To sum up, I would like to: Batch export of graphics Without program background on white paper In good, readable resolution Show More

Here I am again with another idea you super smart folks haven't thought of. Actually, it's not my idea, it's stolen from all the other CAD packages.   If you place a component, you have to manually find the parts you're looking for, by scrolling, or typing the first letter of the part name.   Imagine you know you made a part, but you can't exactly remember how you named it. Or you made a part, but all your parts have the same prefix in the name. Imagine you have a couple hundred parts in a folder.   Imagine if there would be a search bar to quickly find what you're looking for. Exactly, the same simple search function windows uses for decades. I'm about a step away from just using the inventor library and coding it, but I really feel like this should be a base option. If the Parameters window was a dockable window, and you could place it right beneath the Model or as a side-by-side to your CAD file instead of it being a floating window, changing parameters would be so much quicker. The colors for preselection Highlight and selection are set in the document settings.  Since neither of these things impact the final drawing product and impacts the individual user (color blind), the setting should be moved Application options.  They should be added to the color schemes.  If there is a reason from some have this in the document settings the provide an option to have application options override the document settings.   Current document settings dialog: Move to color scheme for editing:      Show More

Whenever wanting to open a patterned assembly component from within the top level assembly file, it is painstakingly necessary at the moment to expand the pattern feature in the browser, then expand the element in the browser, then right click the component needing opened, and finally selecting the 'Open' option in that menu. Super inefficient, and wastes everyone's time. The simple solution for this mindless process would be to simply add an 'Open Component' option under the right-click menu whenever a patterned component is selected within the view window. Our company uses a lot of cut-to-fit parts during our manufacturing process, currently. This is being phased out in our standard practices, but until this is a completely implemented procedure, we need to perform a lot of Extrusion Cuts. This helps up to get more accurate models, allowing for more accurate builds. With the ability to Group/Folder parts and assemblies in a larger assembly, why isn't this available for these after-model Extrusions and other modifying features? This is my request/idea. Sometimes I make very complex models with a long design history. Such a separator would have two functions: Separation of individual modeling phases. Typically, entire sets of commands apply to a specific modeling stage (or solid). This would make it easier to find the right operations when you need to edit. Minimizing a set of operations. The image below with a blue background is taken from Inventor with half the wall textured with a custom from the appearance drop down (just the surface) and the other half with the custom appearance applied with the finish feature (just the surface). The grey background is the same part exported to Shared Views. I would like to see the finish feature displayed in shared views.
