we need a way to select a body and make it a whole new object, no different than a sphere or cylinder, and delete the history attached to it.  i was under the understanding that convert to dm, was what i was looking for, but you can't just select a body and convert it, so that i can get rid of countless timeline modification that are bogging down the ram.  the software is laggy, and slow, starts acting very stupid, doing things you never meant to do, because the processors are catching up, and calculating all this nonsense, and modification.  dm feature only converts timeline stuff, which results in unpredictable errors, and yellow blocks.  sometimes spontaneously deleting parts you made.     so if i cut out a cylinder, and give it threading to make a gear, i don't want to pattern 550 gear teach for the computer to compute every single one every single time.  maybe its not possible, but itd sure be nice so that the software can run as smooth at the end of a project as it does at the beginning.    or, if i go back and delete a line from a sketched object that i used to draft one part.  i can't delete this without a timeline error.  makes no sense to me, why a timeline in the present can't be holed separately from a drafting point. so, converting to a new object would bypass this, and allow me to delete thousands of drafting lines that sometimes, never disappear.  or rails, and whatever else.  Show More

I constantly find myself having to unnecessarily reposition my camera view just to be able to tell which axis of the move tool I am currently using. All the functions of the tool are white / grey making it impossible to tell which one is active, I often grab the wrong axis, wasting time.   Show More

There should be a way where you can model with "live symmetry" in the Solid and Surface environment. I know this feature excists inside Sculpt. The fact that you cannot enter back into sculpt mode to refine further edits done to the part AFTER you leave sculpt mode, and on the edits themselves that have affected the original sculpted object is very annoying. If you upgrade the sculpt mode to allow for both sketching/projecting and boolean operations whilst inside the Sculpt mode, you open up a massive opportunity for progressive sculpted design that was previously impossible due to the fact you cannot move freely between the sculpt and design modes to make progressive design changes as and when required. You are forced to go back to the original shape which most of time is not at all what is needed. Show More

Now that I've made a bunch of existing Fusion commands into shortcuts with my extension (https://github.com/lf-/ShortcutItPy), I want MORE. Edit Feature would be the holy grail because I could just click on something and instantly get the feature I need to edit.   Unfortunately the existing situation appears to be that there are hundreds of Edit Feature commands, and Fusion doesn't support duplicate shortcuts like Revit does (where I have bound every one of the 20 different "complete command" commands to a single shortcut since only one will be valid at once).   Now, I *could* write a thing that has a mapping for every object to an Edit Feature command name, but that would be an unmaintainable spaghetti data structure. For this reason I'm asking Autodesk to implement this in the base program as it would significantly accelerate every Fusion user's workflow. Show More

Fusion could benefit enormously by adding in the functionality of symmetry planes and axes while creating symmetric sketches and bodies.  Rather than wasting time drawing only half a sketch for a symmetrical part, then having to mirror that, then do a combine/stitch or whatever to it, why not provide symmetry planes and axes to do all that for right from within the sketch! I tend to be a whole picture guy so really don't like having to design something in halves, and then have to perform more functions to it just to get it to a whole. I want to actually see what I am designing as I'm designing it. Using symmetry axes and planes does that so simply and easily. I have used it in other software and I absolutely LOVE it! Now that Fusion has control point splines. It would be nice to have this option for Lofting also. What Rhino calls a "loose Loft". There the profiles are used as control curves for a surface instead of like a regular spline where the surface is forced through the profile. Instead it can "drag" the surface in that direction.  This will improve Fusion360 to produce complex smooth (faired) surfaces. I am working with a 7 button mouse, and would absolutely love to be able to assign the view tools like orbit to my extra mouse buttons, since my m4 and m5 buttons are on the side so it will feel kind of like grabbing and moving the object. I am able to assign other tools to m4, but I can only set orbit pan and zoom shortcuts to the predefined setups. I know that other people will want to be able to assign custom keybindings other than the ones available to the view tools too, and as far as i can tell the only way to change them is to set them to the Alias, Inventor, Solidworks, or Tinkercad presets. Is this going to be added in future updates?  Show More

It smashes everything together when viewing this from the main forum.  Open it, and prepare to be inspired! 😃   Expanding the capabilities of the Align Tool. A simple and super convenient way to do it, add a drop down option in the Align Tool to include a 3 point selection align.  3 Point Alignment Origin Points select 1st point select 2nd point select 3rd point Target Points select 1st point select 2nd point select 3rd point  Select 3 points on each of the features,  1 aligns with 1, 2 aligns with 2, 3 aligns with 3. DONE. 8)  The mating feature would automatically move and rotate to match the 6 points together. Search IdeaStation with the keywords FIX or Bug As there are too many for me to list here. Take that list and make a Fix it tool that gives the option to fix one thing such as "Reset preferences to default" / "Reset preferences to saved configuration". Or the user may select the entire list if they have no idea what the issue is they just know that something has changed and it is making their life miserable. Why === 1. I assume that it would be easier to update a patch tool then it would be to update the whole program. 2. I have updated my whole program with a clean, and I still have an issue that this software is so slow and takes five minutes just to startup, when yesterday it started up much faster. So it it isn't the program, what is causing this; and how can I fix it. Obviously, spending days researching and reading post/videos about how others are not happy with your software can not be good for ones outlook their after. So, why not avoid your this and just create a tool that can patch/restore/clean/optimize and save us the headache?    Think about it like this, working with your software is like playing a fun game of chess, it is fun, however it takes thought and skill. Ok now imagine that your playing a game of chess and the game for some reason won't do the move that you know that it should be able to do... would you like to go waste anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days researching and if you did, wouldn't you have forgotten your game plan... As you can see "Bugs and Issues, take all the fun out of the game" 3. Frankly, the difference between success and failure depends on how stable it is. Windows may be UN-Stable but it has (Updates & System Restore) so the general public can restore their computer back to a time that the system worked.    I know there are a ton of experts that are out their that know how to fix their computer  but this tool can save some of us people that are not concerned with nor want to become computer technicians. The same holds true here. 4. Personally, I would like an option to lock my computer from sending any data/project to the cloud except for license checks. I like that I can download a shared file from the cloud and work on it freely; however, I am deeply bothered when I don't have control over my files, as "Lost of control" is the definition of STRESS!!! I want the ability to delete all my information/data from my hard drive and the cloud please! This issue has been upsetting many people since the constitution act 1867 and your policies when it comes to this are less than desirable.  It doesn't even make sense, to force people to archive and delete their accounts just to remove the data that they painstakingly created. Since when is forcing people to delete accounts been a good forward thinking game plan? 5. Lastly, people that are just starting to learn any of the Autodesk programs are sometimes overwhelmed and they quit and come back, quit and come back... and when something goes wonky, it the last straw, and they quit. I believe that a product that is tested by the public grows to be more intuitive if the company listens to the users and I thank you for this opportunity... god knows a support@autodesk.com won't work. That said, windows is the best because it was free for everyone in the beginning when people had choices and because it has system restore feature that make it usable. I can get linux for free, but if it gets wonky I can not do a system restore... and that makes it un-usable for the common person... This is why I believe that pleasing your users is the difference between success and failure... and like the music industry that sold CD for too much money, they assumed that their stroke of luck would go on forever, and now regretted forcing people to find another way. 6. Ok, I can see some Autodesk marketing managers saying but our plan to hold data hostage is working, we have complete control over all our software and people have to be linked to us in order to use our software. We have figured out how to end software piracy and we have given the users the ability to use the full software. What the heck are they complaining about? I can also see some other marketing managers saying this gives us an opportunity to advance as more users are looking for alternative programs. If windows did what autodesk is doing, I bet we would all be using linux by now. In fact, we are using linux, many people just don't know that they are, and as the ads and privacy issues grow there could be a shift where people make the switch and never come back. In summary, if people don't like using it, they won't Please consider making it work, and I know that it does because it worked when I first got it. Now it is too slow and clanky to use, and I am not smart enough to research and fix as I have more important things to do in my life. Show More

When clicking on a body in the model, its nearly impossible to see what i've selected on the history capture tree. Those 3 strip wolverine slashes is by far the worst way to indicate what i've selected. To through salt on the wound, when I actually go down to the capture tree and click on something, it shows it highlighted. I'd like to request that it also highlights when i click on the physical body in model. And please make the highlight more visual.    As a mater of fact, please bump all things that visually represent "Selection" stronger. Allow a quick parameter feature. You might have to read some of this twice. When I enter a dimension even its for the first time let me be able to write : Dimension=parameterName And "parameterName" is added to the parameter list. So if the dimension was width/2, 5/2, or 2.5 and we wanted the parameter to be named midwidth. We could enter in while doing the dimension itself width/2=midwidth, 5/2=midwidth, or 2.5=midwidth and it would automatically add midwidth to the parameter list upon creating the dimension, so you can do the dimension while creating the sketch/object and create the parameter at the same exact time using the = sign. Skipping the step of doing parameters and then doing the object or going back and fourth its very very tedious. This would combine two steps into one making it very quick and user friendly. I want to lay out a surface on a mesh, think add surface in t-splines but it snaps to the mesh so I can build a t-spline body by patching it up.  with more and more scanning, 3d-printing etc working with mesh, solids, surfaces and free-form things all at the same time will be crucial in the future.          Show More

Storing source code at GitHub would facilitate rapid development of addons by the open source community with more checks and balances, better testing, and swifter performance. And if you took it a step further by permitting development of the core by the open source community Fusion 360 could be developed much faster and with far fewer bugs and security vulnerabilities. Fixing existing bugs would also be more streamlined. This would result in a huge savings in development costs, a more prominent web presence, and lower subscription rates for the consumer. The breadcrumb navigation is ideal for skipping directly back several levels of previous pages without having to continually use the return button on a browser. Please move the breadcrumb navigation to a more prominent location or set the anchor links font color to a brighter color.   This is how breadcrumbs appear.
