Expanding the capabilities of the Align Tool.
A simple and super convenient way to do it, add a drop down option in the Align Tool to include a 3 point selection align.
- 3 Point Alignment
- Origin Points
- select 1st point
- select 2nd point
- select 3rd point
- Target Points
- select 1st point
- select 2nd point
- select 3rd point
Select 3 points on each of the features, 1 aligns with 1, 2 aligns with 2, 3 aligns with 3. DONE. 8) The mating feature would automatically move and rotate to match the 6 points together.
This would be especially useful when mating compound curved surfaces/faces together. Check out the link for the screencast (https://autode.sk/2ywxWw8) to see an example of the issue I'm talking about. I understand there are "work-arounds" for this, but when I think of lining features up, naturally the align tool comes to mind. If I cant use the align tool to align a feature... 8( BLAHHHHH! haha
