3D Spline

3D Spline

It would be more easy to create the sweep command which include the path of the sweep to be sketched at first.

I think it is difficult to create a kind of 3D curve in the design (sketch) environment. So it would be easy to create a spline in the the 3D form and then use the sweep command.

Mind posting an example screencast of your issue?  I'm not an expert designer by any stretch of the imagination, but i do use spline and sweep quite a bit.  Maybe I can share my frustrations adding to the credibility of your problem, or maybe I've figured out a work around for what your dealing with.  Screencast is free and pretty easy to use.  You can download it here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

Hi @Anonymous,

you can already create 3D sketches and also 3D splines.

Look at one of my tutorials (it's in german but you see how it works anyway)

3D spline for creating a propeller

Cheers

This is where a blend curve command would be extremely useful. Claas Kuhnen has started a thread with this request, do a search for the thread and vote for it. It's an old thread, but hasn't gotten a lot of support. Would be great if this could be added to Fusion 360

It would be extremely useful to have something similar to Rhino 3d Blend Curve or Solidworks spline on 3d sketch.

In both cases you can have more control on how the curve behaves and how to define the continuity.

Something as a native 3d Sketch command, instead of starting 2d sketch and later moving points around.

In Solidworks there is a quite useful shortcut while on 3d Sketch, which you press TAB and the cursor changes the plane you are directing your sketch (XY, XZ or YZ) and allow you to have "along X", "along Y" and "along Z" constrains.

Besides that, could be something the gumball on Rhino which enables you to drag around points and snaps them to reference geometry needed.

In other words, there are workarounds for 3d splines on Fusion, but having a native 3d Sketch environment/command could totally improve the surfacing experience.

Couldn't agree more. There's a lot of great things in Fusion 360, but surfacing and  especially 3D sketch could benefit a lot from enhancements.

Fusion is getting better every month, so hopefully they will add better surface modeling tools. I'm sure Autodesk will not want to cannibalize their Alias sales, but if some of the existing Alias functionality could be ported to Fusion that would be great. I'm not suggesting all the automotive surfacing tools, but a small subset like high quality blend curves and the multi-blend that was ported from VSR shape modeling would be quite nice.
