Today, schedule management capabilities within Autodesk Construction Cloud are primarily focused on the Build module, which is naturally oriented toward construction execution. However, many organizations manage large engineering programs where the most critical coordination activities occur long before construction begins. In these cases, Data Management becomes the central environment for models, drawings, documents, reviews, and engineering collaboration, but there is no native way to connect these assets to engineering schedules. Suggestion: Introduce a schedule/calendar management capability within Autodesk Forma Data Management, similar to what is available in Build, allowing teams to: Upload and manage engineering schedules. Link schedule activities to models, documents, drawings, and folders. Associate constraints, dependencies, and milestones with engineering deliverables. Visualize planned versus actual progress directly within the data environment. Create traceability between engineering activities and project information assets. Why this matters: For engineering-driven projects, Data Management often acts as the Common Data Environment (CDE) and the primary source of truth for project information. Adding schedule capabilities would transform Data Management from a document repository into a true engineering management platform. This would provide significant benefits: Centralized management of engineering information and schedules. Better coordination between engineering contractors and owners. Improved visibility of engineering progress. Stronger integration between schedule, documents, and BIM models. Better support for stage-gate processes and design reviews. Enhanced readiness for 4D workflows before construction starts. Example use case: An owner organization receives engineering deliverables from multiple contractors. Each contractor maintains its own engineering schedule. By managing these schedules directly within Data Management, activities could be linked to BIM models, drawings, design packages, and review workflows, creating a unified engineering control environment before transitioning into construction. This capability would significantly expand Autodesk Forma's value for engineering management, capital project delivery, BIM governance, and owner-operator workflows.
