Include the "Cut Normal" option when creating a Mark Through feature.  Without this option the flat pattern yields "double edges" when creating Mark Through features in cylindrical parts or Mark Through efartures that are not "normal" to the surface.  Show More

In our company, we utilize a small corner radius for sheet metal output. Our laser cutting machine is unable to produce a minimum corner radius on its own.   The method involves using the flat pattern to apply only small radii to the sheet metal flat pattern, as there are no performance issues. Utilizing the feature option allows for the quick addition of a small radius to all sharp corners of the sheet metal. However, a problem consistently arises when the length of an edge is equal to the thickness of the sheet metal. I am very interested in understanding why the sheet metal corner round sometimes rounds the incorrect edges. This behavior also occurs in the sheet metal non-flat pattern.   Is there a way to provide an option for Inventor to ignore the incorrect edges?   Kind regards,   Jeroen   Show More

I often need to import EPS files into sketch. Now I can only import DXF, DWG as vector files and some other graphic files. But you often get files such as logos and more inn eps fils, which is a vector file. I usually have to get someone else to convert it to DWG for me. It would have been nice to be able to get the EPS files straight into sketch on inventor.   Show More

It would be useful to have a bulge relief feature when working with thick sheet metal parts. A simple bend will result in a bulge on the outside face of the material that can prevent proper fit-up with other parts. At the moment, Inventor HTML Nesting has an issue with displaying as black screen, unless you change decimal separator symbol in Windows. The Report actually works and can be saved from that window but one needs to hit the Save button in the black screen. This could be avoided by adding an "Export Report" or "Save Report" function available in right-click menu or in a tab. Maybe even to add an option to save all reports, since one is generated for every nest. Show More

We have been using the new mark feature and love it for what we do, but we would dearly love if the lines that are the result of the mark feature have a way of being applied to a different layer in an IDW.   How i understand it currently works is that the mark feature is similar to a split in that it effectively creates a line or series of lines on the surface that is currently classed as body edges. These edges come in to an IDW on the (Standard) Visible layer. We then Manually change the Mark Lines to another layer with a different colour and Line Type to distinguish them on a drawing as requireing a different process or use during fabrication of the part.   the change we would like to suggest;   Give lines created in an IDW from a mark feature their own layer in the IDW   this would mean we skip the manual step of changing them to a different layer and allow us to set out template to have these layer settings for all mark features. Currently (2024) when I create a flange and set the type to Width and check the Offset radio button the selector will let me point to a face to offset from. In the early stages of my design I know that the geometry will change but I know that I want my flange to be x mm from centre. I cannot select the XZ Plane as my offset reference.   Please allow the offset to be from the origin planes or user work planes as well as model faces.     Show More

Inventor Drawing automation should use more AI technology. To Produce working drawings on the fly when making new parts and assemblys. Default drawing should show flat pattern in sheet metal and auto dimensions  sheet extents. When you are finished the part the AI system will have the drawing created which you can edit later if needs be. I think a feature like this would give Autodesk the cutting edge of technology in the market of 3D cad design software.   Look forward to seeing this in future versions of Inventor   Regards   P Neville Show More

some complex sheet metal parts have no meaningful way to be formed with a traditional press brake and back gauge setup. the examples are virtually infinite, but let me point to transitions as a common one many people are likely to encounter. back gauging them is tedious at best since the part rises up more with each bend. here is what it appears as for the press brake operator:   it's basically a rounded piece of steel asking for a large amount of bends. pretty tough to just run through the machine. If Inventor could automatically create a small "nick" at the end of each bend line, it would make the forming process quite easy. we've done hundreds of them that way, but we have to create the marks manually, which is time consuming. here is what a marked piece appears as to the operator: forming this by hand without a back gauge takes a fraction of the amount of time it would take to mark them manually. but this is what the sketch for said look looks like: (holes enlarged for visibility.) as you may imagine, these sketech, especially on larger transitions, are very time consuming. but please don't limit this feature to the transition feature; i merely used it as an example. there are virtually endless examples of where an automatic bend line marking feature would be a welcome addition to Inventor's ever growing arsenal of sheet metal prowess. keep up the good work.   Jared Show More

There should be automatic bending lines and color change in inventor nesting as it is very hard to get the bending lines in the present software.  The mapping layer in inventor nesting is also unclear and lacking so many things. The mapping in inventor nesting should include different colors like AutoCAD as etching & bending line should always be in yellow color as per industry standard.  Show More

For us it would be very useful to have an option "Between" like in the extrusion command also available for the contour flange.   At the moment it it sometimes very difficult to get the needed result only using "Distance".  It will get easier with the "Asymmetric" option in the new 2023 release, but the possibility to use "Between" would be really great. Inventor should be intelligent enough to allow the user to use the "Extrude Symmetric" command along with the "To" selection checked. If the user then selects a single point/edge/face/plane in either of the symmetric directions, Inventor should subsequently create the symmetric extruded feature at a doubling of the distance to said point/edge/face/place selection. This would be a nice time savings over the current methodology of needing to create two separate extruded features (one in each symmetric direction) from the same shared sketch. Show More

Again, the new Inventor 2024 feature FINISH is calling for this.   Every time the user uses a dragging selection box to select faces, all the faces (Visible, non-visible, interior faces, etc), will be selected). Is missing an option to select only the camera's(view) visible faces.   How do you expect the users to use these kinds of tools in an assembly (or parts with lots of small faces, like a plastic part)? selecting all the faces manually?! No way... Without this option, or better-selecting options, tools like FINISH will be neglected and not used, because is not sustainable to use spend a day selecting faces one by one. Selecting only the visible faces on camera will give the chance to users to turn the cube in all directions, (Front, Back, top, etc) and drag a selection box to select most of the visible faces. Of course, some will still be selected manually, but it will be a lot less, and this will save a huge amount of time. This kind of selection will be useful also in a lot of cases, like selecting faces to CAM, selecting faces to copy, thicken, shell, etc etc.   Show More

Inventor Model State (AIV 2022) allows us to create multiple representations of a part or assembly within a single document. We be able to create manufacturing states, simplification levels, and more in the same part or assembly file. It would be great If we are able to create Nesting for Inventor Model State.
