I am using the fusion 360 android app to access my blueprints and project information while out on the shop floor wherw i dont have a pc available. I would like to see an arc, radius, and dia measurement option added to the android companion app.  I find that what my guys need access to most is to have the ability to find out the diameter of bolt and dowel holes. Currently if wemdont have a diameter called out on a print they have to run to the engineering office and hqve an engineer pull up the draw I ng or model.   It would be great if CAM > Simulate got some loving. Adding a TIMECODE readout to the jog/shuttle/play controls would help. The user should be able to click into the timecode and type in a value to jump to that part of the simulation. Having the toolpath timecode here would also cut down the time I spend in CNC Cookbook's G-Wizard Editor doing the same preview function and give folks an estimate of how long it will take to mill/turn their part. Its currently possible to make a point at the intersection of a linear entity and a plane, but not at the intersection of a spline and a plane. This makes construction of lofted objects using splines for both the sections and the rails very difficult. There is a workaround, or what should be a workaround, by making a square section body using the linear splines and intersecting the planes with the body, then creating points where the entities created intersect the normal plane, but the points don't seem to be on the spline, even though it reads as coincidental.  Show More

the lightbulb is quick to use compared to what most CAD softwares uses, but still, when you have 50 things in a model and only want to see 1, it is annoying to clic on the 49 others at least being able to hide/unhide all selected items, so you could isolate something by selecting the first item, then shift + clic on last item, and ctrl + clic on the item you want to isolate Show More

 It seems as though Fusion has abandoned any progress towards making its lathe CAM interface any where near usable given the fact that a simple face and profile turn program lands out at an avg 5kb. wouldnt it be wise to take a few snippets from featureCAM and HSMworks and adopt rough/finish canned cycle support for fanuc controlers? Additionally, this would benifit in minimizing prog length and give the operator the tools required to make edits at the control if needed. I noticed the tread cycle is absolutely antique. can we enter the modern age and use a G76? Pecking for part off tools could be supported with a canned G87 cycle and perhaps allowed a stop point for a parts catcher to engage then a re-entry and slow down for part catch then catcher retract. I currently write all this code in manually, but would like to say to others that I use the lathe portion of your product as well. the truth is, and many here would agree, that they simply think it is un-usable in its current state. I noticed that you can customize the controls for pan/zoom/orbit (which is great), but there aren't very many options to choose from. The CAD software that I learned on is Catia by Dassault Systèmes, and I love the controls for it. You can do everything with only the mouse, and I like that rotating and orbiting are combined into one tool. I'm sure there are other users who are coming from other big CAD programs who wish they had their familiar controls as well.   The suggestion, then, is to include more configurations to choose from. And if you can't include very many, at least include the controls profiles from some of the big CAD programs like Catia and NX. Show More

Hello. I want to offer several ideas for speeding up and more convenient use of the program. 1) Bodies. After such operations as "circular pattern","mirror","pattern on path","rectangular pattern" we get so much bodies. It would be convenient if they were automatically added to the group. Also, having the ability to group bodies, it would be convenient to be able to do Boolean operations with groups, selecting the desired object and group (without selecting its contents individually) 2)Sketches In scenes where there are many sketches, I often have to scroll up to turn on the canvas, and then go down again. It takes  time and this is not good. I think that it is worth to either add the ability to group sketches, or move the section of canvas below the section of the sketch. 3)Canvases. There is very little possibility of shifting the action center of canvas, especially when it is necessary to adjust the canvas dimensions to hundredths of a fraction. 4)Boundary fill Sometimes, when using the function of the baundary fill,no sense in creating heap of additional construction planes. It would be convenient to be able to use the same surface as construction planes in the  setting of this function. This would help get rid of the scene mess with unnecessary planes. 5)Scale. I would love to see a "3d Edge Break" tool path.   This would be a real time saver in the shop, basically giving a 0.5 to 1mm chamfer on any edge.   Basically, it could be the tool path equivalent of adding a small chamfer. It would ask for a chamfer width, and an edge. It could then look at the solid model, apply a chamfer of the required size, then hit as much of that material as possible with a chamfer tool, ball nose, or bull nose end mill, while not violating the solid model in any area that is not inside the generated chamfer. Obviously, this would not be a proper chamfer except for cases where there is a 90 degree corner and a chamfer tool is used, this would not be an issue, as long as the model was not violated outside of the "chamfer" dimensions.   With a ball nose, it could come very close to putting a constant width chamfer on all accessible 3d edges, simply leaving any area where the model would be violated beyond the chamfer width. I realise the Trace tool path has similar functionality, but without the ability to see where it is gouging the model, it is very limited. Show More

Feature: Be able to click on a component and isolate only the joints associated with that component.   Reason: I often wind up with complicated assemblies in which some joint breaks. I know what what components are involved, but all the joints are in the same folder in the browser and it takes a long time to search through the 60+ joints to find the broken one.   Here is an example of making me work too hard. Ok, not really hard work but not something I want to think about or go through nearly every time I make something. Direction, Operation and extents.   I would really prefer a row of icons instead of drop down menus here. They wouldn't take up any more space and would be quicker to select. Most of the time when extruding, I want to make a new part, but it defaults to 'join'. If I forget, I need to undo or split body, whatever is quicker at the time. Direction, same thing. I don't want to click a menu, then select. I just want to select. Distance, ditto. to, next, all, etc. Menus are a real dampener to flow, especially when icons are just quicker to see and click. You have one icon and a drop down to access the others. This makes no sense to me.    These are minor things but they are annoyances and slow down the process when the menus could be replaced with a row of icons as seen in the drop downs. Show More

CTRL + TAB to switch between tabs quickly.   CTRL + W closes the screen as it does in many other programs. However, the switching tab function remains to be seen.  Personally, it would drastically improve my work flow while working on assemblies with multiple component files open to allow for quick screen changes without having to fly around with my mouse.    Right now the keyboard shortcut CTRL + TAB does nothing so it shouldn't interfere with an established command.     Anyone else agree?   Thank you,  Joseph Kabenji  Solutionist Show More

Here are a bunch of UI features which would cut an absurd amount of frustration out of my modeling experience, all of which would be trivial to implement in a couple of hours (and I would have implemented in an extension already if there was API for them).   Summary of features: 0. Make my add-in [15 lines of code!] obsolete by making it possible to create a shortcut for every meaningful command in the program, *especially* find in browser, find in window and other view tools. Activate would also be appreciated. This can be implemented simply by adding a menu of view tools in the top bar somewhere and giving every command an icon (for some reason the program doesn't let you shortcut stuff with no icon... ???) 1. Repeat last command when you press enter (or some other key). I don't want to use a mouse gesture to do this. This might be fixed easily by implementing feature #0. 2. Make it so I can use a single action so I can click on something and find the features that created it, and edit them. A keyboard shortcut for "edit feature" would accomplish the trivial case of this, which is the one I hit every single day. 3. Make a temporary visibility system! Copy how it works in Revit and give me shortcuts. I want to be able to click on something, isolate it temporarily, then reset my view with one keystroke for each of those actions. Or hide something in the way for a few seconds while I edit something behind it, and not have to dig through the browser to bring it back. 4. Undo selection. I want to be able to undo accidentally deselecting everything. This could be a different command than the main Undo command, that is fine. 5. Add more options for Selection Priority, for example, profiles. 6. Make Look At take two selected objects as parameters (currently if you select two things and press look at, it looks at one, then the other), one of the face you want to look at, one of a line you want vertical on screen.   The reason why this is filed as one idea is because each of these suggestions is something which is extremely simple, and separating them would fragment support for Autodesk spending time on simple daily workflow improvements. Hello, There is a very neat feature in Catia called "Extremum point", by which you can insert extremum/maximum point on a curve such as an airfoil.    So if you select an extremum point along the length of the airfoil, you get the point exactly on the leading edge which you can use to (1) split the airfoil/wing in half precisely and (2) use as a perfect guide rail..   I have attached a screenshot from Catia.   thank you, Show More

Solidworks is worlwide used, so it can be usefull that fusion 360 users can provide a edrawing file, the client can use his prefered tool to view and measure the assembly or part. The next big thing could be to export as an solidworks assembly or file (.sldrpt, sldasm, slddrw).    Think about it, then you got the only cad package that can interact on this level with the most used cad program. Our team communicates via Trello and Slack, and as such, it would be good to be able to send either a text Hyperlink or a file alias/shortcut which allowed the file to open locally in Fusion360. The only people receiving the link/file would already be part of the project in Fusion and so would have permission to open and edit files.   At the moment, we are manually typing out the nested folder structure but as the jobs become more complex and the nesting gets deeper, this becomes quite a chore.   Thanks. Greetings,   While checking out simulation workspace I noticed there is no drop test simulation available as I tried to leave my component unfixed to run the computation. Therefore I was hoping to see an icon on the constraint options that allow the user to specify height of entire component from ground level relative to a plane parallel from the component to ground. Since the toggle gravity function is already available in the load option, no additional function is needed there. The computation that is solved right after meshing will then be that of a drop test simulation.   Do correct me if I am wrong. Besides, I am having trouble understanding the 'prescribed displacement constraint' function in the constraint options, so what I am asking for may already be doable using the aforementioned technique.   Sincerely, JerHan Show More

OK, so the View Cube provides free rotation (reduntantly to Shift-MiddleMouseButton) and ortho and iso views. But sometimes it is necessary to define other views and to have them exact. I might need to create renderings of two parts viewed from exactly the same angle. Or a drawing view at a particular angle might show the feaures better and I want the verticals to stay vertical in the drawing. I have found no way to do this in F360. So how about adding to the View Cube drop-down menu:     The three angle could be called Compass, Pitch, and Roll or something like that to sound more tech. Basically they are just exact manual inputs equivalent to drag rotations. They could have sliders but these are not really needed if the boxes always show the current angles. Just drag the part or assembly to roughly the right angle and then adjust the values in the boxes to set the exact angle needed. Set the "twist" angle to zero to keep verticals aligned vertically.   The focal length adjustment is really an additional option and maybe adds complexity to the display code. One other useful option would be a Named View box that is initially blank. Fill it in to get a named view without an extra step. Show More

I've searched some of the other submissions along these same lines. The basic request is to please add an STL option to the File->Export list. (As others have mentioned there are ways to get an STL file out, but it's not obvious.) Part and parcel with this is that it would be nice to be able to choose inches or millimeters as an option. This is primarily for 3D printing; I do my drawing in inches but a lot of 3D stuff is set up for metric, so when I bring in my 2.5 inch square into Slic3r, it appears as this tiny 2.5 cm object and I have to expand it manually. (I don't want to change Fusion 360 to metric, nor do I want to change Slic3r to inches because some factory profiles are set up that way.   Request: Add an STL option to the File->Export menu, along with an Inches or Millimeter option to try and preserve the sizing. It would be nice to add two options to the dxf export of a sketch. Option to remove construction lines Option color construction lines Red of some other color I use the export dxf option to send the sketch to my laser.  Having to remove all the construction lines is a pain.  If choose to leave construction lines then having them a color allows me to find them easier.   Show More

I'm using a little program that's most likely unkown and whatever I'm doing I can always abort just by pressing the escape key. The program stop what it's doing almost immediately. I supposed it is as fast as it take to clean up things.   I'd like to see something like this in Fusion 360.   Right now I'm waiting on F360 to do a sketch modification and propagate the result and I have no idea if it's chashed or not and especially if I'll be able to recover my work in case of a crash???   Thanks, Yves     Show More
