Hello.   In Vault Thin Client, it would be great to be able to click on the whole row in Associated Files to open the file (yellow arrows in image below). Many organizations are required to keep Microsoft SQL Server patched to meet security and compliance obligations. However, Autodesk will only support the CU build that was tested when developing that version of Vault. See: Vault support for Microsoft SQL Server Cumulative Updates   This leaves customers having to choose between remaining on older SQL Server builds that are supported by Autodesk, or applying newer Microsoft security updates that address critical vulnerabilities but have not yet been confirmed as supported for Vault.   Requested Improvement: Autodesk should update the supported SQL Server cumulative update guidance for Vault more frequently, particularly when Microsoft releases security updates that address known vulnerabilities. Customers need to be able to remain compliant with internal security policies while continuing to operate within Autodesk-supported configurations. Show More

This applies to all software help guides, not just Vault.   With a new release of any software or update comes a list of fixes and known issues. However, the help guides only provide a vague description followed by a SFDC Article code with seemingly no way to find this article if a user wanted to get more information.   Instead those should be links taking the user directly to the article.   The Autodesk website should also be updated to find these issues more easily.   There should also be a way to subscribe to notifications of new pages and page updates for each software so users are aware of newly found issues and fixed issues immediately instead of googling around hoping to find an existing article if it exists. We have two different work flows, one for standard parts that are highly controlled and one for custom parts that are usually only used once for a job then not changed again but reused of future projects.  The problem we are having is that we do not want the people who are working on custom parts to have access to any standard parts that are currently in work in progress (WIP).   Sometimes parts that are WIP are actually in some larger assemblies and if a user does a "get" of that larger assembly and its children, they will get the WIP version of those parts.  I can deny downloading for them on WIP parts but the problem with that is that vault does not know to go back the most recent version that that user does have permission to download.  What vault does is looks in the user's working folder and deletes that file (if it exists in their working folder) and tries to download the most recent version but the permissions denies the download, so then there is a missing part from the upper level assembly.    There also is not a way to download a previous version manually because the most recent revision is work in progress.   I could also prevent them from seeing WIP parts but Vault hides all revisions not just the work in progress revision.      There needs to be a way for users to be able to download the most recent "released" version of files, not just the most recent.   Show More

Use case : Our design projects exist of well organized, large projects, which we call Programs and which contain several smaller Work Packages (WPs). For example: Program X WP_A – Pre-study phase WP_B – Permit Drawings & Plans WP_C – Design Drawings Phase A WP_D – Railway Station Construction Models WP_E – Design Drawings Phase B ... All drawings, references, and Data Shortcuts are managed in Vault and enriched with metadata. This allows different user profiles to efficiently search, query, and group files across the entire system, regardless of whether they need information within a specific Work Package or across the entire Program.   Current configuration : Our Vault configuration is designed so that the Program represents the Civil 3D Project for Data Shortcuts. This approach is necessary because “Cross-Work Package collaboration” is only possible when the Program level is defined as the Civil 3D Project. Data Shortcuts are shared across multiple Work Packages. Mapping individual Work Packages as separate Civil 3D Projects would prevent this cross-Work Package workflow.   Issue : While this configuration works well for Data Shortcuts, it creates usability issues in Civil 3D. Designers use the Vault Projects section in the Civil 3D Toolspace to browse drawings and Vault Data Shortcuts. Because the entire Program is presented as a single project: The lists become very large. Drawings and Data Shortcuts cannot be filtered or grouped. Files are not sorted alphabetically, even though they follow a strict naming convention. Finding the correct drawing or shortcut becomes time-consuming. From our perspective, implementing alphabetical sorting would already significantly improve usability.   Questions for the Civil 3D/Vault team Could the team investigate whether any of the following would be possible? Allow introducing subfolders within the Vault C3DData folder while maintaining Data Shortcut functionality. Provide filtering or grouping options for drawings and Data Shortcuts in the Civil 3D Toolspace. Enable alphabetical sorting of the lists displayed in the Vault Projects section of the Civil 3D Toolspace. Suggest any alternative approach that would improve navigation and usability while preserving the current Program-level Data Shortcut structure. Show More

We would like to create a multi-column window. This would help users to insert imagens with notes of which places to change.   For instance: Allow insert of imagens in the following interface:   Thus, users also would be able to link with Standards to help next changes. As an owner/operator of a complex infrastructure project, our organisation often receives assembly CAD data from external contractors in a variety of CAD formats.  One of the first actions that take place is the opening of these files in Inventor and converting them into Inventor format.  The current situation is that I have to add a prefix to the filename so that when I check the assembly into Vault I do not receive any errors due to duplicate filenames already being present in Vault.  I then have to copy the imported filename into Excel, remove the prefix, then paste this data into a dedicated iProperty in order to maintain traceability of the source file. What I would like to happen is that at the conversion stage in Inventor, I have the option to automatically rename the converted files according to a Vault numbering system.  An additional improvement would be to have the ability to map the original filename into a dedicated iProperty in Vault in order to maintain traceability of the source file. Hello,   Since Vault 2018.2, Job Processor don't consume an Inventor License. It's a huge improvement, thanks a lot.   Now next step, don't consume a Vault licence with Job Processor. For small company (1 or 2 licenses) who want to publish automatically PDF on changing state, the flow is interrupted by the need of starting a Job Pocessor who consume a license they don't have (or want to buy). Why not allow check in directly from Windows Explorer workspace?   This will simplify the process since we usually already have navigated to the file in Windows Explorer. The Add File command in Vault is nice, but you still have to navigate to the file in the workspace. Drag and drop only works if the folder already exists in Vault, and then you have to navigate to it.   With Windows Explorer, I'm usually already there. Just need to check it in.   Autodesk must still have some leverage with Microsoft. Show More

I would like to post an idea to extend the grid columns with conditional formatting rules on properties. With this you can highlight properties if they contain/are equal/not equal/etc. to a specific value. Users can create a more visual status of their grid. To extra extend this functionality it would be nice to create calculated property rules/property formulas. So the same described as above, a property value will be created based on other property values.   On the bottom it would be useful to add grid totals, where users automatically see total sums, averages or counts. Hi,    Vault user (important for production site) cannot measure angle between surfaces in Vault Thin Client (Forge Viewer).  For production purposes it is significant to chceck e.g. the exact bend angle of the sheet metal.  "Old technology" - Autodesk Design Review is doing great with it.  In Forge Viewer it is based on 3 points (not 2 surfaces) without clear method to check the exact angle in some cases.  I attached some screenshots.    ADR:    Forge Viewer (Vault Thin Client):   Regards, Maciej Stawowski   Show More

It would be nice if Autodesk could provide an official PowerShell Module for the new Vault Data API. The new REST API is absolutely great, the documentation is marvellous and it is fun to work with it as it is so much easier to use than using the old SDK. Rather than starting the command prompt and using "Connectivity.vaultpro.exe resetdialog location" It would be nice if we could have a button/feature in the software we are using (Inventor, AutoCAD, Civil3D) in the menu or one of the ribbons to reset all the dialog locations to the screen the software is currently being viewed on. Hotkeys for this feature as well would make it even easier to find hidden prompt screens. Show More
