Grid conditional formatting, calculated property fields and totals

Grid conditional formatting, calculated property fields and totals

I would like to post an idea to extend the grid columns with conditional formatting rules on properties.

With this you can highlight properties if they contain/are equal/not equal/etc. to a specific value.

Users can create a more visual status of their grid.

To extra extend this functionality it would be nice to create calculated property rules/property formulas.

So the same described as above, a property value will be created based on other property values.

On the bottom it would be useful to add grid totals, where users automatically see total sums, averages or counts.

Thank you for posting the idea.

On the topic of "..highlight properties if they contain/are equal/not equal/etc. to a specific value."

You can set that a property must have a specific value in the User Defined Property settings. Then when the property value doesn't match, a Red icon appears next to the property and in the main file grid, an icon appears showing that there is a property compliance error. Have you tried this?

Hi @ihayesjr

Thanks for your reply. I'm aware of this functionality, there are some options for required values for property values. But these are not based on custom conditional rules so you can't control the behavior of the highlighting.

@ihayesjr,
I’m aware that Data Standard can do this.
An example:
Due date for review/release file or item; due date for closing change order: If this date is overdue, I would like to see in the grid that this date will highlight in red. If this date is in the same week as this week, then it’s highlighted in orange.
Right now, you can create this with saved searches. But this will not give you a dashboard, you have to click to these saved searches to get an overview.

Ok, would a dashboard with this information be better than having this modification to properties?

@ihayesjr Why not both.

Performance cost on the client would be a concern. The more information that is calculated on the fly, the more time it takes to populate the grid and display what is needed.

Maybe it is better to create option for distributed searches & views. A dashboard is also a possible way.

@bas.claassen

You can already distribute searches and views.

@ihayesjr I know. But to have these extra options for conditional formatting on (distributed) searches and views. So the user decides on specific searches and views to have these extra calculations.
