We have had cases several times where internal data structures in a design (ipt) have become defective. However, this is not immediately apparent to the user. It only becomes apparent when elements are edited or the end of the component is moved and an error message appears that an endless loop is created. The model or design can then no longer be edited and usually cannot be repaired. It would be important for Inventor to issue a warning as soon as internal data structures become defective. Seems like it should be simple, but Inventor does not currently allow the engineer to toggle work feature visibility on/off while editing a feature sketch within a sub-level assembly component. Highly needed in order to make top-down design easier to accomplish.   Show More

I frequently use multi-body part files to create complex sheet metal assemblies.  I would love to see the ability where, when using the Make Components feature, you could select all or a range of Templates & set to a single template IPT (ie: select first Template, press shift, select last Template in your range. right click & select the IPT template file).  Currently, I have to select each individual solid & set each template IPT one by one.  Time-consuming when you have dozens of solids to select.   Show More

We need the capability to balloon an assembly on a drawing and set the balloon BOM view to "Structured" or "Parts Only". Then be able to place a parts list and have an option to keep that parts list linked to the balloons or disconnect them. If they are disconnected, this allows that parts list to be a "Structured" or a "Parts Only" BOM View. This also applies for any overwritten/static values. When opening a file from inventor, replacing a component or saving a file, Inventor usually opens to the last location used. It would be really useful to be able to add quick access / favorite locations to the folder tree in the Open/Save dialog box as one can do in Windows. This could save several clicks per open/save action in many cases.     Show More

Hi Inventor users, Currently, the default setting in Inventor displays the file name as the part or assembly name in the Browser tree. Although this can be changed manually by renaming it directly in the Browser, this is a time-consuming and repetitive process, especially for large assemblies (example shown in the image below).   In our system, we use "dumb" part numbers as file names, which means the displayed names in the Browser offer no meaningful information about the part. However, we have other properties, such as Inventor Properties or Custom iProperties, that provide a much clearer description of the file's purpose or content.     Proposal: If Inventor could allow us to link the display name to an Inventor Property or Custom iProperty, it would give users much more control over the information shown, making it easier to identify and work with files. Especially with companies who work with a structured file naming system. This feature would streamline workflows, save time, and make the Browser tree more informative without manual renaming. Sometimes during constraining, a part moves in a way, so that you are not able anymore to click the desired hole/plane/line/whatever. Would be nice to have the option, maybe by pressing a certain key, to activate dragging/rotating/move a part while constraint function is still active.  Show More

I would like to be able to export sheets in series to a graphic format (e.g. png). When I prepare drawings for an industrial design application, I have to first export the drawing to PDF, and then convert the pdf to jpg or png.   The ideal scenario is when I export a pdf in 2400 or 4800 resolution and then convert it to jpg in 300 or 500 resolution. Then everything is legible and aesthetic. But exporting the drawing directly to png 300 produces very illegible and unsightly graphics.   Ideally, graphic export would automatically change the paper color to white.       To sum up, I would like to: Batch export of graphics Without program background on white paper In good, readable resolution Show More

Let a tangential constrain work on a spline. If you have a line connected to a point on a spline and wish for it to be tangential to the spline curve at any given point, surely tangential should do that.
