It would be a nice feature if buffers created with MAPFDOBUFFERCREATE could be saved to formats other than .SDF. This would prevent a lot of currently necessary steps to get the buffer in a format that is more shareable or workable across different platforms.

I would like to see a simpler way of extracting or exporting Object data or attribution (on GIS language...) to an excel file without having to export everything as shape and then having to import again etc. Kind of the same way a table is generated when we connect to a shape file instead of going the MAPIMPORT route. We are constantly going from one system to the other and as a CAD specialist I was challenge with that question from a GIS specialist the other day. We try several ways but it took a long time and a lot of importing exporting extracting etc. Is there a way to create a tool that will extract OD into excel? Civli 3d has a similar tool for parcel information etc. Thanks

I think it would be great to be able to generate a report which would include a viewport pulled from the map. IE: User would select a device, open the feature form, and select 'Print' and then select the report to generate. Based on a pre-determined zoom scale (ie: 400x400) the report would create a viewport within itself and zoom to the selected device automatically. Top half of the report would be the device information. Bottom half would be the viewport pulled from the map and display model. **A similar function can be done using plot templates, however it does take a long time to generate and the values would need to be input manually.

creating a map with differend styles without using the automatic theme take much time! It would be so helpful to export once created styles to a file like ESRI *.lyr, and import it to new FDO Data to use it again. I know the using of *.layer files, but they only work with the same FDO file to transport them from one map to an other map. That is helpful, but every time the name of the file changed, p.e. update of Data, you start again. Or am I wrong and did't find the way?

In AutoCAD Map 3D a selected polygon (FDO) should not hide all other objects form other layers. E.g. if I select a polygon the lines should still be visible. But now the lines are no longer visible: In other GIS (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS) the selection of a polygon does not hide other objects. There are some options to achieve this: - selected polygon should respect draw order of task plane - mark selected polygon with hatch symbol instead of fill symbol - mark selected polygon with highlighted border instead of fill symbol Here is an example how QGIS works:

This offer is for this "Idea" heading. Add at least minimal feedback - so that the author of the idea and reading users can understand that ideas are not being published in vain. Now the authors of ideas have a complete feeling that no one reads their ideas. You can at least make notes from Autodesk experts: Viewed, Accepted, Implemented, or the like. By the way, these notes will help for the internal control of the Autodesk itself.

I used a Database Sniffer to look at the SQL that AutoCAD Map 3D pulls from SQL Server when first connecting in FDO. For example, for every table in my GIS, it runs: select [GEOMETRY_COLUMN].STSrid as srid from "MYTABLE" So if I have 50 tables with 1 million records, it performs a 50 million record query to get the SRIDs (Coordinate System). I suggest it changes the query to: select top 1 [GEOMETRY_COLUMN].STSrid as srid from "MYTABLE" for each table - that way it only queries 50 records rather than 50 million. Boy would SQL Connections in FDO be faster eh?

Pushing into AIMS does not honor the Link Template data - at a minimum, the link column should be available for joining later within AIMS...

We use AutoCad Civil 3D 2016 (Basically Map 3D) for all of our GIS building with layers. I have one sdf layer in a drawing that shows up in the display manager. When I right click on the layer name and then click on <Show Data Table>, the Data Table populates with all of the pertinent data in each column. Within the Data Table, I can temporarily slide and relocate each column into a different position. Isn't there a way to permanently move columns in the Data Table that will stay where I move them? If not, there should be. With today technology, I can't believe we are unable to make this happen. If I have to edit information say for a parcel, it takes me several minutes each time to re-order the columns so that they are in the correct order to edit the data. Very inconvinient, especially when I am dealing with data tables that have sometimes as many as 40 or 45 different columns of data like our zoning layer. Autodesk has informed me that this is not possible. "Interesting".

Working with reference records in feature class forms is a very performing way to insert and update new data sets. The function global update is it too, but the combination of global update and using reference records is missing in AutoCAD Map 3D

Working with UTM Coordinatesystems always brings measuring inaccuracy. With the command MAPDIST you can measure geodesic distans betwen two point, but no areas of Polygon. Turning polygons into GIS object helps to get nearby, but it is not the short way if you need only two or three areas.. It would be helpful to get a command to mearsure real areas based on the uses coordinatsystem projection.

It is very useful to make raster global transparency so you can see through, for example if you have one scanned map georeferenced and an aerial photo, you can make scanned map transparent and check how it fits with the aerial photo or other scanned maps. i use QGis for this and it is very useful and handy. Find attached an example of the overlay of an aerial photo with a scanned georeferenced map, it is so useful the global transparency. I don't know why this simple option is missing while there are a lot of feature in raster design and none of them does it quicker and simplier than QGis, please ADD it. one simple button

When creating a new feature from geometry in the FDO layer, it would be extremely helpful to automatically map the AutoCAD properties to matching column in FDO. For example: Block attribute install_date matches SDF column called install_date. Or Object Data called owner matches SHP column called owner. The right-click "Create new feature from geometry" would auto-match the block attributes or object data to the column of the same name.

When using the create new features from geometry in FDO, it would be great if the features could be automatically filtered based on the FDO layer. That way you only select the features for that FDO layer automatically.

The Function DXF-Export (_MAPTOACAD) export all Object without Object Data. It would be very helpful, when it will be an opportunity / option to export FDO Objects to DWG with Objekt Data. For example: similarly like importing SDF objects as DWG objects FDO Table: DWG Object properties (Expected Object Data after DXF-Export)

Please add direct connection from MongoDB or other noSQL formats. import from SQL databases were made available in MAP but NoSQL databases like MongoDB support is not there it would be great if it is added
