IFCs are frequently used in BIM projects. In means to follow the progress of the project, GUID element's in IFC created whit Advance Steel needs to be frozen. Thus, others programs (like Tekla) can show evolutions between two IFCs. This is the same principle as the Synchronisation function in Advance Steel with Robot Structural Analysis. The goal is to locate new elements, delated elements (on the old IFC), modified elements and unmodified elements following deisgn changes during the project.

Leider bereiten uns die Sonderteile immer wieder Probleme, insbesondere was deren Positionierung, Benennung und Stückzahlen auf diversen Listen angeht. Was hier mit Sicherheit vieles erleichtern oder sogar Probleme vermeiden würde, wäre, dass man in den Advance Eigenschaften auch bei den Sonderteilen unter dem Reiter „Benennung“ die Optionen unten zum Anhaken hinterlegt, dass ein bestimmter Eintrag - wie z.B. die "Vordefinierte Bemerkung" - bei der Positionierung verglichen werden soll, ähnlich wie bei den Trägern. Im Anhang finden Sie ergänzend die entsprechenden Screenshots zum direkten Vergleich: Träger – Sonderteil.

Export numbering from Advance Steel to Inventor Hello, It would be very nice if we could export Advance Steel Models to Inventor with Part Numbering, etc. This would be a great addition to both programs Thanks!

add a search bar in model browser to enable the user to type in the part number and browser then jumps to the line with the same part/assembly number especially with big projects.

Hi all, What if one do numbering using different prefix settings and then one came to know numbers are changed but who changed and when no one knows . It will be good for us if we will able to know what numbering settings are used by user and by which user and when he saves the settings the All record of numbering by user with date and time with user pc name will be shown in a word or document file automatically generated in model folder ...Other tool are doing it Why AS remains behind....

Quite often, when I start to generate single part drawings for my model, I will get unwanted drawings for parts I forgot to uncheck "used for numbering" in the behaviour section for that part. It would save a lot of time if you could delete single part drawings, and also have the option to uncheck the "used for numbering" while deleting the drawings. Saving having to go back in to the model and change the setting for each unwanted part.

Hi again😉, It would be great if we could add statement for example, "Domestic or Foreign" to show up as a standard statement on my bolt list for my bevel washer. Another example but related; Product codes to identify each item we use. -A ¾ nut has a product code. -A ¾ washer has a different product code. For the moment, a product code is put into the description of the items. -¾” A563 NUT~F143, -¾” F436 WASHER~F192, ¾” -A325 BOLT~F288.8. I then explode the drawings (for various reasons) and have to move the “F” product code into a column on our BOM. A user attribute does not work here for this because a different attribute cannot be applied to the separate items in the bolt set. They all get the same attribute information. Maybe we can just get a column (either existing or new) in the data base that we call up on our BOM, or something in the Mapping where we already have mapping for bolts, we need to add mapping for nuts, washers and bolts separately. How this can be accomplished….Still waiting…. Juss sayin😉 Best regards, Janet G

I need a command to create a block of beams. The block shoud work like a connection. And the block can include connections. It shoud have a master slave function. If i copy the block and change the master the slaves will change automatically. numbering with the right quantities for the assembly and SP. create drawings from block. When you Number parts and assemblies, create lot for manufacturing,… and then deliver them, you could mark in the model that this element (selected) have been made, and add an option in the numbering than you could block the manufactured parts.

Hi again: The issue is I cannot detail the special part on any drawing. If the special part is welded / bolted to a native model part, then yes it shows up on an assembly drawing. However, I still cannot select it. It would be great if I could use the Drawing Process to detail the special part and have it detailed on a part drawing, so someone can fabricate the item. I can use cameras and use the drawing process to create a drawing of the special part, however it would be just peachy if I create a “Solid” detail style for both MP assembly and SP drawings so in the future I do not need to do hacks to get something on a drawing? The idea is some times you copy a joint and the joint has stiffener when you copy the joint will be two stiffeners and we have to delete one and if advance steel has this check will be great

Since version 2019 the quality of the translations has got worse in the user interface of Advance Steel again. Though in AS2020 some names have been reworked, but not to the better. One could believe that here just of the Google translator was used. In the German version there are there some places which could be improved. I think, into other languages this is similar. However, in English seems to be good. Many users cannot understand the names of the functions in Advance Steel at all because they do not correspond to the technical context. The translation of the user interface should be reworked.

It would be interesting to have an option to include (or exclude) welds in the numbering option. This can be used in documentation for maintenance to indicate the position of the weld in the structure and combine this with drawings, lists and other types of information. It would be useful for maintenance documentation on large structures like steel bridges and industrial structures.

I would like to name my assemblies with my own custom names instead of main part name. For example: "Partie Sud" instead of "Tube carré 50X3". After "Numbering", the column "Name" use the "part name". It is perfect for the secondary parts. But on the Assembly marks, the name of the assembly is the main part name. On the windows, it is not possible to manually rename the assembly. Field not editable. It is better for the people at the workshop if assembly name is a custom name and not a part name. A workaround is to modify the "Assembly list" to use "User Attribute 1" instead of "main part name". But it will be better to change directly the assembly name in Numbering. Please ad the possibility to manually change the assemblies name.

Well, like the subject says, it would be really necessary to give Bolts, Nuts and washers individual position numbers. Currently it is only possible to give the complete bolt assembly one position number. However, this is usually only done with bolts according to DIN 6914 (because you can buy these bolts only as a set). Every other type of bolt, nut or washer you have to order separately, therefore you need a individual position number for those parts... otherwise the procurement department will not be able to order anything. Currently this is done manually for each bolt assembly.... and this costs a lot of time and money. I don't know how the other companies deal with this issue but in our understanding this is a basic feature which every steel construction software should offer. This is what it could look like. I'm aware that you have to consider also 2nd washers, 2nd bolts etc.... so it probably is a little bit more complex than this, but I think the point what we need is clear.

I know there's an existing idea for this here: Idea But I want to add another idea. It would be great to have a checkbox for "excluding object roles" if this checkbox is checked, all object wit specific model roles will not used for numbering. The model roles which should be used for this setting maybe could add in an extra table called "not_numering" or with a checkbox by creating the role (for later changes a row in the table would be fine). So all modelroles which are not ticked on, are automatic exclude from the numbering. This would help so much for creating BOM-lists and details, because then we could use the modelrole for the detail styles too. numbering add role role table

Hi there... It's me again How about adding a BOM for concrete pile Data extraction. First example is of a typical table layout with the data that we need to include. Columns we will likely fill out by hand would be: ‘NOMINAL GRADE ELEVATION’ ‘MINIMUM PILE EMBEDMENT’ & ‘PIPE SUPPORT NO.’ If we can add the Section Type & Plate size (LxW) with thickness in a separate column it would be good. For the elevations we need 2 (typically the ‘Z’ Coord). The elevation at the top of the cap plate & The elevation at the bottom of the cap plate / also known as the ‘PILE CUT-OFF ELEVATION’ Second example shows a Pile model which will have a number of Piles (steel section – either ‘W’ or circular hollow section with a base plate welded to the top end (typically central)) modelled. The purpose is to supply a drawing / document with the data needed to locate and install piles to the contractor. I have created the foundation of such a BOM for concrete piles mind you it is rather just the heading text and some tokens. Perhaps the development team could elaborate on it. Please see attached.
