Currently, surface bodies in Inventor cannot take the appearance of the part material or appearance. Instead, they are limited to Application Surface Color or a manually assigned appearance.   Please add an option that allows surface bodies to automatically inherit the part’s appearance, similar to solid bodies. This would greatly improve visual consistency, especially in workflows that rely heavily on surface modeling.   Additionally, it should be possible to override this appearance at a higher assembly level, just like with solid bodies. This functionality feels like an obvious and long-overdue improvement and would remove an unnecessary limitation in surface-based design workflows. Show More

You are in the middle of designing, you have 8 or 9 files open and suddenly Inventor closes.  How many files did you have open? What files did you have open? Did you save that file where you just started the new sketch?   You look in the recently opened files but there are never the ones you need because in the meantime you had opened other documents to give assistance to a colleague.   The software can calculate the generative design of a complex and organic-looking space lander but it can't do what powerpoint has been doing for a decade: Restore the last session.   As now, even web browsers are also inventor when reopening after a crash it should propose the reopening of documents that were open at the time of the crash.   Maybe like the programs of the Office package it could also propose to restore a modified version but that had not yet been saved.   Ok, we know that it is an idea that has already been discussed on this forum over the years and duly archived.   I'll try again anyway, maybe it's the right time 😉 Show More

Actual State: When an Inventor file is opened or updated via Vault, the Inventor file (assembly, subassembly, part) is always in the read-only Master View representation. This read-only representation Master View usually looks very bad in the highest assembly. Also the automatically saved preview images are very small in resolution and cannot be displayed larger after automatic upload to Fusion 360 Manage PLM, ERP, CRM for example. Target state: My idea is that the read-only display Master View is preset fix by Autodesk, so that only the models are visible (No planes, axes, points, 2D/3D sketches, 3D annotations, etc.). So, as we move on through the years, I see more and more companies attempting to become paperless, and with the reviews, having build videos instead of build up drawings has always cropped up. However, due to the discontinuation of inventor publisher, this seems to be very difficult and requires the need for a third party application and training.   I would have expected there to be much more development being made in the environment but we've seen 0% of improvement or features added here, all I'd like to start with is the below:   Ability to export a high(ish) quality, low storage video with good framerate. At the moment, we have very little options and probably the best option is a standard WMV. The quality and framerate is atrocious on this format but is still the most friendly with the amount of storage it takes up. We simply need something better than this. I don't think there's a huge need for a full animation render environment as that can be done elsewhere and there's separate software's for exactly that.   Ability to add annotations with time associated to the annotations Callouts, that's all we're after! just something to point to somewhere on screen and to stay there for a defined length of time for the user to read when watching the video.   Improve the timeline to be able to edit much more easily and quicker Some simple way to select multiple lines and transitions etc like the standard select tool that Autodesk have with the selection box, rather than having to hold shift or CTRL on individual tweaks and reduce the amount of time and start/end position.   Show More

Please update Inventor Studio enviroment. It's the poorest module in Inventor at the moment.   It would be great to do the things that we used to do in Showcase (same things, same quality, same speed, same facility) in Inventor.   It would be great to create high quality renderings in Inventor in a short time and with simple settings.   It would be great to create movies and animation, in realisting high quality, in a short time with very simple settings.   We need an intuituve way to create animation, like Showcase did.   It would be great work in a a real time rendering enviroment.   It would be great to animate constraint easily.   It would have been great to dismiss Inventor Studio instead Showcase                         Show More

Currently Inventor 2025 lacks the functionality to "Auto Balloon" exploded views created in .ipt presentation files.   It is often desirable to balloon Exploded views on an assembly drawing. The ability to use the Auto Balloon command for exploded views would be highly beneficial.   Show More

Studio lighting has not been a good experience.   1) If you are going to limit the number of local lights there needs to be some transparency, at least tell the user at light #8 that this is the last light that can be on. If performance is an issue, return the power to the user and let them make the call to use more than 8 lights.   2) After expanding the light count, make it so that lights can be attached to a part or assembly.     Show More

Guten Tag liebes Autodesk-Team In letzter Zeit arbeite ich viel mit dem Tool Präsentationen um Videos zu erstellen.  Meiner Meinung nach wäre sehr hilfreich wenn man hier auch den Befehl messen hat. Das Problem momentan ist das man wenn man z.b einen Zylinder ausfahren will muss man in die Baugruppe wechseln und messen was dieser für einen Hub hat. Dies könnte man durch Messen in der Präsentation sehr vereinfachen. Zudem wäre es auch praktisch wenn man in der Präsentation schnitte setzen kann. So könnte man das Innenleben eines Bauteiles besser veranschaulichen. zb eines Zylinders.   Show More

Inventor lets you click on an assembly header in the model tree and "Create Presentation".  I posted one idea earlier to bring along the home view settings but there is another equally important request, the model tree.  When we create an assembly, we organize it by creating folders such as Fasteners, Reference, Purchased, and things like that.  When we create a Presentation file, the model tree is totally flat and every part is displayed in some seemingly random order.     FIRST SUGGESTION: Bring in the same model tree structure and order that was in the assembly model tree SECOND SUGGESTION: In assemblies we have the Productivity option to Alpha Sort Components in the model tree.  There is no option in a presentation to sort the model tree.     Because the Presentation model tree does not match the order and format of the assembly model tree, it is difficult to pick and chose what to tweak .    BRING THE ASSEMBLY MODEL TREE FORMAT AND ORDER OVER WHEN CREATING A PRESENTATION FILE  (PLEASE...) Currently in Inventor, when you place a view from a Presentation file, you get the option to select which Snapshot view you want to use:     However, once you have placed the view, if you want to change to a different Snapshot, the list is greyed out and it is not possible.     This would be a useful function and would maintain consistency across view generation, as you can change a normal assemblies View, Position and/or LOD after the view has generated. Animation/video and static exploded view, kinda not the same at all. How about a different set of tools for them?     What if we could create a drawing view of Scene? No need to create Snapshot View, no need to refresh Snapshot View and no need to move time slider in Storyboard.   What if we replace time in Storyboard with distance? Currently there are two options. Start the new Storyboard "CLEAN" or "Start from the End of the Current Storyboard". Since you typically start with an assembly and explode it to show the process, unless you reverse the Tweaks your storyboard ends in the exploded state. Another idea would be automatic Tweak reversals. The next storyboard is usually to continue the assembly, so you want to see what you have done so far assembled and then add the next set of components to explode. The flexibility to start the new Storyboard at any point in the timeline would decrease the amount of time and reduce errors in creating the next set of snapshots.     Show More
