Autodesk component has stopped working

When starting AutoCAD 2014 for the first time it gets to the part where it is checking the license and it stops working.  An dialog box pops up and says Autodesk component has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.    So I can't get into 2014.   I have not uninstalled 2013 yet so I am using that now.   AutoCAD 2013 shut down on me yesterday unexpectantly when I was creating a bitmap image for a new toolbar.   The dialog box popped up when asking me to report the error and when I went to send it I got a similar message saying again the Autodesk component has stopped working, then a new dialog box popped us saying internet explorer has stopped working and needed to be closed closed.   Can anyone help me with this.   I have opened a new case through subscription acouple days ago, but thought I might get faster results here.  Case number is 08255552.

We finally got mine working. Below are the items that the Autodesk
Support Team had me try. I did them in order and once I updated my
Graphics Card driver it worked. You might try updating you driver first
and see if that works.

In regards to your case about AutoCAD 2014 freezing at Checking License,
please do the following:

A. Rename the following file by adding a .bak extension at the end of the
filename.

Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\FLEXnet\adskflex_*_tsf.data

Vista/Windows 7
C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\adskflex_*_tsf.data

This file contains all activations for all 2010 and newer Autodesk products.
You will need to re-register all your products if this file is
renamed/deleted.

B. Restart AutoCAD and it will automatically re-register via Register Today
and it will start up as expected. A new adskflex_*_tsf.data file will be
created when you re-register your product.

If the issue persist after doing the above then please try the following
work flow:

1) Reset AutoCAD Settings as follows:

-autocad.html>
http://upandready.typepad.com/up_and_ready/2012/07/the-easiest-way-to-reset-
autocad.html

2) Install the latest service pack:

http://usa.autodesk.com/support/downloads/

3) Update the graphics card driver.

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534

4) If the issue persist, please create a new local user account onto the
computer and give it administrator permissions then log into the computer
with newly created test account and see if AutoCAD launches properly under
this user account as well.

5) If AutoCAD also crashes under the test user account, you will need to do
a complete uninstall and re-install following these instructions:

Thank you! The above sequence worked for freeze when initializing at "check license" Autocad 2014 Building Suite Ultimate (not sure which step or all) - much appreciate the advice/detailed steps!

I managed to successfully launch REVIT and AutoCAD 2014 after loading
updates for the graphics card driver...I think in the end that was the
problem.
No issues so far with REVIT (I also have Windows 7)
Hopefully someone can help to resolve your problem.
Good luck!

I'm having same problem with my Infraworks 360 R2.

Acutally none of these suggestions worked for me, but I found that by pressing the "Activate" button as soon(!) as I can see it, it takes be beyond the "freeze" point. However, if I wait even just 1 sec. with pressing the button then the program freezes.

After such a frustrating experience with Revit 2014 Components failing close to a deadline. I felt it necessary to post a response that others may benefit. Strangely, NOT ONE suggested this strategy. As I'm not a computer wizard, I usually do not try anything rash without some backup advice. Strangely there isn't much said about this problem.

1. If you have tried the solutions posted on this forum and they do not work. try the following.

note: this will reset revit, so probably a good idea to back up your projects and component lists and any other 'special' files you may have changed.

2. Try using the windows uninstall process via control panels to start the Autodesk uninstall wizard.

3. Choose the option to REPAIR.

4. Activate your software. You may need to contact Autodesk for a re-acctivation code.

This worked for me and was relatively fuss free.

I hope this experience may help you find your solution.

Please note. I have been successfully operating Revit 2014 on a 17" Apple MacbookPro(6,1) i7 2.66GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M,

with 8Gb ram using Bootcamp, Windows 7(64bit) and GMWARE Fusion. The only issue I have ever experienced is sluggishness caused by multiple sleep transitions. I reboot my machine about 1/week so I'm actually surprised this is as stable as it is. Windows has crashed less on this machine than any other computer I have ever used. Not sure about what new Macs are like....
