Description:  The minimum requirement for Autodesk 2024 products is Windows 10 version 1809.  This version was released in October 2018 and is also known as the October 2018 Update.  The version shown when running the VER command in the CMD prompt should be at or higher than 10.0.17763.  This information should show at the top of any command prompt or you can also type SYSTEMINFO.

The system requirements for Autodesk 2024 products can be found here.

Solution:  You need to update to the latest supported version of Windows 10/11 to meet the minimum system requirements.  You can do this through Windows Update.

Work-around:  The following method is UNSUPPORTED by Autodesk and will void any support for the product.  PLEASE USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

With a slight modification to the setup files, you can install Autodesk 2024 products on older versions of Windows 10.  This should only be used in situations where you do not have the ability to download later versions of Windows due to IT restrictions, government or educational restrictions, or are unable to access updates or upgrade due to other limitations.  It is advised to update your Windows if possible.

Step 1.  After downloading your Autodesk 2024 installation file, extract the files to the default location C:\Autodesk (or the location of your choice.)

Step 2.  Open the folder for the product that you wish to install, i.e. C:\Autodesk\AutoCAD_2024_English_Win_64bit_dlm

Step 3.  Locate the file named setup.xml and make a backup copy of it.   We will be modifying the contents of this file.

Step 4.  Open the file in the text editor of your choice, such as Notepad.

Step 5.  Locate the following lines of code near the top of section of the file:

<Platforms>
            <Platform name="Windows" architecture="x64" minVersion="10.0.17763" useNTVersion="true"/>
</Platforms>

Step 6.  Modify the minVersion= value to contain the value of your current version of Windows, found by the VER command at the beginning of this article.  For reference, the RTM version of Windows 10 is 10.0.10240.  This value should allow you to install on any version of Windows 10.

Step 7.  Save the file and run setup.exe.  The installation should progress without any errors for system requirements.

Note:  This method is not supported by Autodesk and there is no guarantee that your product will work properly after installation or that you will not get future installation errors or errors during the use of the program.  Also, this method will now allow you to use the product on Windows 7 as there is functionality missing in the Operating System for Autodesk 2023/2024 products to work.  I have not tested this on Windows 8.x versions.

Hopefully this will help you get Autodesk 2024 products installed.

Good Luck!
