Autodesk has released a module that provides better functionality between FlexSim and Autodesk software. FlexSim users can download the module by navigating to the “3rd Party Modules” tab on the FlexSim downloads page:   Downloads - FlexSim Account       Please note that the module will work with FlexSim version 24.2.2 or later.   The first release of the module includes the following:   Added support for loading ipt, iam, and rvt files. Added a new AutoCAD FlexScript API. FlexSim 25.2.0 includes upgraded third-party licensing libraries which require an updated set of license server files based on Flexnet Publisher version 11.19.8.0 or higher. For background, see Version Compatibility Between Components. In terms of that article, the client library linked to the FlexEnabled application (FlexSim) was upgraded, so all the licensing components further up the list also require an upgrade. Thus, FlexSim has a new set of license server files available. Download the new license server files here:   https://flexs.im/lmtools-download   Suggested instructions:   1. Download the new license server files (.zip archive) and extract to a location right next to your previous license server tools, like in this screenshot:     2. Install the latest anchor service: Browse the newly extracted files to find flexsimserveractutil.exe. Right click and choose Run as Administrator. From the main menu of flexsimserveractutil.exe, go to Tools > Licensing Service > Install Anchor Service. This will install the updated version of the licensing anchor service, compatible with FlexSim 25.2 and higher. For more information, see License Server - FlexNet Licensing Service 64.   3. Start the new lmtools.exe from the new folder. Your FlexSim_License service should be listed there.   4. Update the paths for lmgrd.exe, flexsim.lic, and log.log to point to the new files in the newly extracted folder.     5. After editing the three paths, save the service (button in upper right).   6. Check the service using Windows Services. Make sure that the "log on" tab is still set to use a "local system account".   7. Make sure the new lmgrd.exe and new flexsim.exe are allowed through the firewall. See lmtools - Add Windows Firewall exceptions.   8. Restart the service, either from the Start/Stop/Reread tab of lmtools or from Windows Services.   9. After you confirm everything is working properly, you can safely delete your old folder containing the previous version of FlexSim's license server files.   If you run into any troubles, try stopping your existing FlexSim_License service first, then repeat the above steps.

Sometimes a model isn't repeatable. This can be due to a variety of factors. See the article below: https://answers.flexsim.com/articles/21666/model-repeatability-15.html The debugging steps in that article are still valid for smaller models. This article applies to large (millions or billions of events) and made in 24.0 or later. The first step is to run the model twice, changing the log file each time. Set the log file to FFLog.sqlite or similar. Enable logging, reset, and Fast Forward to the stop time. Close the Event Log window for better performance. Set the log file to DrawLog.sqlite or similar. Enable logging, reset, and run to the stop time. Be sure that the 3D view is open and drawing. Close the Event Log for better performance. Normally, after running the model, you'd export the data to a CSV file and use a diff tool. For large event logs, this becomes impractical. Instead, you can use the attached python script, which visits each row of both logs looking for a difference in time. If there is a difference, it reports the changed event and the previous five events for both logs. This is significantly faster than doing a full diff. Once you know the time of the changed event, you can view the full event info in FlexSim. This is the first clue to why the model is not repeatable. The changed event is a symptom of some other issue. At this point, you need to discover why the event is different. For example, if an AGV arrives at a location at a different time, look at where the AGV was travelling, and see if you can see a reason that the time for the arrival would be different. compare_logs.zip

Railworks 24.0.1 is now available (02 April 2024). This version of RailWorks is intended for use with FlexSim 2024. Railworks 2023.0 will become LTS, for any use cases with updated bug fixes use the latest 23.0 version available. Signal: New feature in railworks This new feature adds a 3D object called Signalized Rail, a track with signals that can control train traffic with precise speed changes, sight and safety distances for rail reservations and signal advances. You can configure signal aspects, sight distance and train safety distance with just this object.For more information read 3Dobjects. Importance of the Signal A signal in a railroad system is a way of controlling train traffic speeds, ensuring safety and maximizing the flow. There are different types of signals for different cases and countries, the most common being speed control signals on sections to prevent train collisions. These signals change their appearance in order to indicate a reduction in speed, and can have different aspects for different speed changes. This type of sign is the new railworks feature. About Railworks The FlexSim Brazil RailWorks module consists of premade custom objects, designed to represent a real environment for the Rail problem modeling, with less configuration. Our approach is to unite 3D modeling with the Process Flow functionality, allowing object configuration and visualization through the native 3D FlexSim solution, and the rail system events to be triggered by the Process Flow, using not only defaults FlexSim Process Flow activities, but also new ones developed by our team.
