Hi,  I'm a surface engineer that is trying to make Alias my main work tool after primarily using ICEMsurf for my modelling for a number of years. I used to use ICEMSurf's quick select menu heavily for my work, which is very similar to Alias' marking menu, but differed because you had access to 6 different radial menus, which could be triggered by using either one mouse button or any combination of two mouse buttons. I think the marking menu experience in Alias could be further enhanced if the team did something similar, and gave us the option for three additional marking menus that we could open by using more than one mouse button at the same time. I.e - using the marking menu clutch key in combination with: LMB MMB RMB LMB+MMB (NEW) LMB+RMB (NEW) MMB+RMB (NEW) In addition to this, I would love to see the option to have more than 8 radial slots in the marking menu. I feel like this is a feature that would be easy to implement (as it would work in the same way as the current marking menu), and that would greatly increase productivity by allowing to access more tools using gesture based controls. Of course, existing users that are happy with having only three marking menus wouldn't have to add this to their workflow, and could continue using only the three mouse buttons. A Win-Win in my eyes! I would like to suggest implementing the ability to slow down mouse sensitivity when moving, scaling, and rotating objects in Alias AutoStudio by holding the Shift key (for example) while using the corresponding tools. Does anyone know if there is a similar solution in Alias? A similar feature exists in Blender — when holding Shift, all transformations are performed with significantly reduced mouse sensitivity, which allows for much more precise adjustment of position and scale. Just happened that I deleted a surface by mistake, and it was not possible to bring it back with the classic undo (ctrl-z) option. It is NOT ACCEPTABLE that after so many versions and updates this option is not available on a software which is a standard for the industry and it has such expensive prices options. This is a basic feature that is available even on many other softwares, as someone already pointed out. Instead of focusing on adding minor program features, it would be much welcome to have what is necessary to work every day as professionals and not losing precious time.  Best regards Show More

If using the tool "Project" there is no check to chain select tangent connected curves. You have to select each single curve handpicked !? Please add "chain select" for a much quicker workflow.   Show More

Users need to be able to lock each/some/all settings for all tools.   As well, company or team leaders should be able to "hardlock" certain settings possibly through environment variable editing.      The goal is to help teams standardize/ maintain build and visualization settings.      This could also feed into Alias having Company Customized "Origin Templates" to start any project with.  Ex. Template would have the proper visualization and construction settings for an Exterior,  shaders would be locked from CMF team, construction tolerances locked by Model Manager,  Variant views locked by the Design Manager.  Show More

Hello Alias developers, after using Alias for 15 years now, I am frustrated to wait for fillet operations that fail and run forever without an option to stop the calculation. Currently the only way to stop the tool, is to close Alias down and start over again!? There must be a button implemented in the "Surface Fillet Control Window" to stop a running calculation immediately.    Improvements like this would really boost the User Experience. Make the software stable and good for professional users instead of adding tiny niche tools and minor tweaks for every release. I am modelling every day for hours, like all modelers in e.g. car industry and can`t loose time on waiting because of a weak software performance. Hope I see the button in the 2023 release. It would be very useful to have the option to unwrap a 3D curve to a 2D plane designed for use as a template on a physical model. Within this tool, it would be important to have the ability to define reference points on the 3D surface or curve, and then when the 2D plane is generated of this curve, to include these reference points, as well as lighter, dotted lines indicating where to fold or cut the paper so it can lay most accurately over the physical 3D model.   This would solve an issue we have when we need to make physical changes on a model to match digital changes, when: 1: the physical model is not on a mill 2: we are modifying a curve/theoretical on an unchanged main slab.   For instance, the main slab surfaces are staying the same, but a series of intersecting surfaces are being changed. I'd like to take the curves from the new theoretical of these modified surfaces, and print something the clay modelers can use to scribe in this new surface edge. Show More

swap trim area   a trimmed surface is converted in a swapped trimmed surface. The discarded areas are changed to the kept areas and the kept areas are changed to the discarded. This is very usefull if a trimmed surface with many spotted areas has to be changed to a surface of its discarded areas.   Show More

I'd like to gauge interest in a redesign of Blend Curves.  Although they are very useful, we have identified areas that they could be improved:   • Form Factor - blend curve cv structure and scaling could mirror form factor from the surface fillet tool, providing a consistent cv layout for curves and surfaces   • Interaction - reduce the number of tools in the toolbox, and provide more in-canvas user interface controls   If you agree that this is a project worth doing, please provide examples of other issues you would like to see addressed. Please consider the possibility of editing the UV mapping of objects in Alias, possibly even polygon or mesh based editing in service of real time rendering use. To be blunt, Alias for use in real time rendering scenarios can be quite a hassle. Show More

In developing models, it is often necessary to adjust the local orientation or placement of a component of a model in relation to another component. The current Local Axis Control tool is for this purpose and it generally works well. However, there is no means to measure the adjustments beyond a visual guess. It would be extremely useful to be able to type in a value representing the desired amount of change from the original position. Perhaps in the case of angular (rotational) changes, a detent for standard increments -5, 10, 15 degrees, etc. would be intuitive and effective. Hello,   When importing complex assembly data imported as a STEP file exported from Creo, the assembly structure is maintained in group nodes, which is great, but what I would like to do is change the group node structure to a folder and layer structure so I can better manage the data in other workflows.   I can't find a way to do this automatically yet, I am exploring other ways of exporting Creo data to import with folder / layer structure but have not come across anything yet that works.
