In the evaluate tool set you find the tool "surface continuity". Under options you find "show max labels" My suggest: Please add the possibility to "show minimum labels" too. This would make it easy to check the minimum angle between two surfaces which meet in position. For example, you would like to check if a kink is at minimum 7°deg. Therefore a designer can make sure that a kink is visible in a milled model.

Hi everybody, I have a suggestion for an improvement concerning the evaluation tool: it would be great, if the evaluation tool displays an error, if surfaces are obstructed in the drafting direction by other surfaces of the very same piece of product. This would be very helpful to detect undercuts in a fast and efficient way. Thanks. Cheers Tobi

I would like an update of the shading and shader library. I find it really frustrating being told by a designer that the model looks flat or similar, this is often because there is no shadows or modern render engine to realistically display the materials and final look of the product. (ambient occlusion often lets me down when I need it) I would use vred but our company doesn't want to spend the money on it, instead we have to use Blender, I don't really want to spend the time transferring all the data to another software, just to get decent realtime shading. I would also like this shading to be fairly idiot proof, i am good modeller but i don't want to be defined by poor shaders. Realistically I don't have the time to put into a library of my own, so a decent library of shaders and environments would also be essential. I would be happy to discuss this further.

would be nice to have a rotate tool that asks for a start point and an end point, so that I can rotate/snap precisely something to an angle which is not known. not that is very useful modeling wise, but to understand/test/ and play around with engineering sections would be very useful sometime

Variants Lister options: Presentation export As an industrial designer I use Alias not only for the modelling but also to present the results thanks to the great Variants Lister and the option to set a delay between the switch from Variant to Variant. This creates a nice animation like presentation. The downside of this is that one is bound to carrying a Laptop where Alias needs to be started and a "heavy" WIre file opened, then the Variants Lister started and presented. One improvement of this limitation is to incorporate a screengrab tool into Alias (like the is already one from Autodesk). By choosing Image File Type, the active Variants Group is being played at the desired speed and a video screengrab of the active window is exported as a suitable video format. Later that video can be saved to a mobile device and a presentation can be played/paused to better explain certain details during a presentation. Would be perfect to have later a dedicated Autodesk Alias App for a mobile device, where all variants are seen as Thumbnails and a presentation is easier played/paused, or easier switched between variants. Tubular Offset Tool improvement: This would help to better define the length of a tubular offset. Having as well a "Cap end" as option would help to create easier grooves from end to end. Would be great to have G3 specific locators; now that we have G3 Align at our disposal. It would be nice to know if another align operation (on another edge) breaks a previous G3 Alignment. My thought is that you could make the G3 version a different color; perhaps Baby Blue. (Needs to be something easy on the eyes.) It could be a different shade of green I suppose; but I think pale blue would be better. So when a surface loses G3 alignment; it switches to the typical Green color. I guess if you don't like the color idea; you could implement new labels: G0 = Position G1 = Tangent G2 = G2 Curvature G3 = G3 Curvature So you could use these instead of the existing: P = Position T = Tangent C = Curvature (G2) ? = G3 While I am on this topic of G3; I would really like to see the G3 option added to the Freeform Blend tool in the Design Package. It seems like if G3 Align is available in the Design package, that it also should get the G3 Freeform blend option as well.

A locator that shows the spacing between CVs maybe with a gradient scale of color (sort of like the curve evaluation shader but applied on hulls: the more a hull is long the more of some color it will get).. so that is easy to nicely space CVs between eachother in a constant accelerating way. I am not quite sure is that useful but sometime I wish I had it

Hi there, I have an idea for the Diagnostic shader surface evaluation tool: instead of setting the drafting angles new for each project, or stage,it would be helpful to install customizable presets of various diagnostic shaders, where I can save settings such as drafting angle, drafting vector and so on. The benefit would be I simply click on the preset which has been saved previously and save time. Thanks Kind regards Tobias Rau

If this option where to be supported, there would not be the same need for Autodesk to support every new version of .prt file within Alias. Technical Input from NX could also be communicated in a more secure way, when all PMI is supported and all information gets imported to Alias.

Hi Alias-Team, when I distort the view in Alias with the distort tool, and change back to the normal view the point of interest doesn't work anymore. If I zoom in, the camera zooms into the middle of the screen and not to the point of interest anymore. Is there a chance to get that fixed? Cheers Tobi

Hello Currently Window display- X ray controls and visual cross sections do not work on reference data . It works only on surface data . step 1 I load engineering data through reference manager and want to do measurements with the existing surface data by creating visual cross sections through cross section editor. step 2 I changed the visibility setting to 1.0 in Window display- X ray controls step 3 I turned off the Window display-Toggles-Model so that i can clearly see the visual cross sections.But the visual cross sections on the reference data disappears. It will be good if we can see visual cross sections using X ray setting even on the reference data with out promoting the geometry.

Simple request: Add an 'Active objects' option to Dynamic Sectioning. Also, add Dynamic Sectioning to Alias Concept (Design). This is a basic feature that should be in all levels of software.

Realtime 3D sectioning is a 'basic' feature in even the cheapest of CAD software (you can do this in Google Sketchup!!). Can this be included in Alias Design because it is not a premium feature. Thanks for your time.

Dear Alias-ideas-team, I would like to suggest an idea for the surface evaluation tool: By drag and drop I can generate various buttons with different angles for drafting. I also would like to have different buttons with different vectors, e.g one button with 5 degree with vector XYZ for part XYZ, and a second button with 3 degree with vector uvw for part uvw. So I don't have to click "update from selection" all the time, which is time consuming. Or does this feature exist already, but I don't know how to use it. If so, I would appreciate it, if you could tell me. Kind regards from Germany Tobias Rau

I want to switch the locator prefix (True / Projected) for all locators at once. I hardly need this information and the recipients of screenshots are sometimes unnecessarily confused by the T or P. Switching all locators individually is very tedious.

What about adding Locator with specific tangent break. Alot of occasions, we need to build surface that tangent/curvature to other adjacent surface with very specific angle break. Ofcourse when we measure it with existing tangent locator, it gives non-tangent feed back. So by adding new locator measure with input of angle difference (minus or plus sign) will save alot of time, rather than using the angle measure locator across the whole edge...
