Mouse sensitivity when moving, scaling and rotate object

I would like to suggest implementing the ability to slow down mouse sensitivity when moving, scaling, and rotating objects in Alias AutoStudio by holding the Shift key (for example) while using the corresponding tools.

Does anyone know if there is a similar solution in Alias?

A similar feature exists in Blender — when holding Shift, all transformations are performed with significantly reduced mouse sensitivity, which allows for much more precise adjustment of position and scale.

i faced the same issue but i can move the CVs in X-Y-Z directions using xTransform tool and reduce the mouse sensitivity by inputing a number, a similar solution can be implemented for the object transform too!

Yes, that’s correct. There’s no way to move, scale, or rotate the object with lower mouse sensitivity. For example, when I import data from a 3D scanner (a mesh) and try to rotate it to find symmetry, it’s really hard to fine-tune the alignment with more precision.

"CHEAT"  you can reduce the mouse sensitivity manually in windows

I found a lifehack. When using free camera movement in perspective view, rotation and panning are jerky, like in the video above. But from specific orthographic views (front, back, etc.), rotation and panning work smoothly.
So if you want to rotate from a specific angle, position the camera the way you want, then create a construction plane from that view — it will be treated as the front view. After that, you’ll be able to rotate smoothly from that view.

Add Option to Disable Screen-Space Resolution Scaling for Interactive Rotate Tool

 

Problem: When using Transform > Rotate and dragging interactively, the rotation resolution is tied to screen-space distance from the cursor to the pivot point. When zoomed out or working at a distance from the pivot, each pixel of mouse movement maps to approximately 0.1-degree increments. This coarse stepping makes it impossible to achieve fine angular adjustments while maintaining visual context of the model.

The only way to get finer control is to zoom way in on the pivot, but this defeats the purpose when you need to see where the curve lands in context (e.g., evaluating tangent continuity or highlight flow at a distant location).

Current Workarounds:

  • Type exact values via promptline (Tab > r 0 0 0.05)
  • Use Information Window for typed input
  • Split viewport (one zoomed in, one zoomed out) - haven’t been able to get this to work 

None of these allow smooth, fine interactive rotation while maintaining visual context.

Proposed Solution: Add an option to decouple rotation sensitivity from screen-space distance to pivot. This could be:

  • A toggle to use a fixed angular-per-pixel ratio regardless of zoom level or pivot distance
  • A sensitivity multiplier setting
  • A "fine rotation" mode (e.g., modifier key held during drag)

The goal is to allow continuous, snap-free rotation at any zoom level, so the user can make sub-0.1-degree adjustments while viewing the full model.

Use Case: Surface modeling workflows where subtle angular adjustments (< 0.1 degree) are needed to achieve tangent continuity or smooth highlight flow, while evaluating the result across the full model rather than just at the pivot point.
