It is very important for us to show the standards for I-profiles, sheets and pipes in the parts list. At the moment, we enter these numbers in the "Commodity number" field for each part so that they can be read out for the parts list. Most MEP Constuction companies would use Unistrut channels to support pipes and ductwork. However, there is no CAD product out there would allow you to create intelligent connections. I would like to Autodesk to have a Unistrut channel catalog (see attached) loaded into Advanced steel. This would include Unistrut catalog connection vault similar to steel beams. For example, when I want to connect two channels together the fittings and bolts etc would appear in the 3D model and Bill of materials.       Show More

When it comes to sorting your single parts on a drawing BOM, the bolts/anchors/studs are always listed first then the single parts in order. If you switch the sorting to get the bolts/anchors/studs to be last, then the single parts are listed in reverse order. Joints (Macro connections) bolt orientation. Please fix the bolt orientation in connection macros to always orientating the head of the bolt to the secondary member, or provide the option to do so, rather than inverted and non-inverted bolts. The bolt lists are generated based on the bolt orientation; the head of the bolt being defining factor as to the item the bolt is assign. This is creating a lot of duplicate joints, just for the bolt orientation, but the software should have the intelligence to base the orientation on the user selection when creating the joints. (member/item 1 {main support member} member/item 2 the secondary member)     Could the development team please fix the bolt orientation in all macros to always orientate the head of the bolt to the secondary member, rather than the cleat or Main supporting member.  Also in some macros, the invert bolt option doesn't always work as intended, and reverts the bolts back to the cleat every time the joint box/macro is opened, and doesn’t update all connections within a joint group. Due to the software inconsistencies, (software bugs) this make it difficult to manage the bolts and their assigned members or assemblies when bolt are within a macro. Show More

One of my our customers requested and camber column in the external material list back in 2019. At the time the token for "radius" (|radius) in the field content listed the camber every time (see "Camber Issue on BOM" attached). Sometime between then and now something changed so that the camber stopped being listed (see "Camber Issue on BOM-2" attached). Per tech support (Sophia Li and Emy Nestor - thanks for you help😊) it was suggested to use a user attribute and to post the idea here.   I would like to see more tokens (especially one for beam camber) in the field content token list for external lists.    Thanks Bill Show More

Hey.    I would like an option to change 'explodable' option on individual parts of the bolt assembly.  According to european standards, we have to use EN15048 approved bolts. They consist of an EN4014 bolt and EN4032 nut that have been tested together, and thus are sold together. However, we also need washers, so I would like to have my bolt exploded into bolt and washers and no nut on my exploded bolt list.      Show More

Not so much an idea, but something that gives me heartburn every time I encounter. On about 90% of all our stairs, our customers require a purchased stair tread with carrier plates and some kind of abrasive nosing. As in the types made by Ohio Gratings or McNichols. Advance can give me a nice tread model - I can adjust the carrier plates to suit - but the description in the bill of materials is garbage. Much more information is needed to give the purchasing agent enough to order the proper tread, and this is always something that I have to manually add in. These kind of treads are not detailed, they are purchased!    So, I always turn the behavior off on these, but the problem there is they never appear on any lists. If I leave the behavior as is, the info on the lists is incorrect and/or is not enough information to order the tread.    Attached is a photo of a grating tread like the ones we use all the time. This is Advance Steel 2022 and the default template/drawing styles for stairs won't fit a default grating stair tread without the text running over into the next column.   I have to go and customize my BOM templates to suit?!?!?      Do better AutoDesk this is unacceptable.   Show More

It would be nice if Advance Steel can associate MP with an alpha character or even numbers during the Numbering - identical part detection and then have the alpha characters and numbers go in sequence thereafter, when BOM's are generated.  Also, to have the capability to reverse the MP and SP.  I have attached an Illustration for an example to see.
