Issue: It is possible to use the 'Replace Component' feature on a subassembly to replace it with some other component even when the parent assembly is locked by a different user.   Steps: Find or created some assembly with a few children. Ask a colleague to check it out so the Assembly gets locked by a different user. Find this assembly in the Plugin. Go to some child item and right click it. Choose Replace component. Find replacement component in the pop-up search window. Press Replace. Expected behavior: This should not be allowed as the whole assembly is checked out/locked by a different user. And not just the top level item, all the children should be locked as well. Actual behavior: Action is allowed and the subassembly is replaced with another component.   Documentation does describe how this feature should be used but this leaves room for issues as it also should not be allowed and not just described - Search and replace. Excerpt from documentation: "Ensure you have an assembly open and checked out in which you wish to insert or replace an item."   TO DO: Enforce the business logic to work as expected by adding a check if the assembly is locked by the current user. The feature needs to be improved and the documentation updated afterward. A SOLIDWORKS drawing generated during initial Item creation and subsequent check-ins retains the document font, PNG images, and all colors; however, when an item is released, its PDF translation loses the document font (converting to a new font), PNGs in the drawing convert into a black box, and all colors are lost. This can negatively impact my ability to communicate specifications to my suppliers, to the point that these translations are unusable. This translation automation is one of the main selling points of Upchain, but these formatting problems kill that point. I would like to suggest that in a future update, the PDF translations retain all of the font, image, and also document color formatting from the original SLDDRW file. Show More

Currently, CAD mapping works for standard parts, but it doesn't support Content Center (CC) files in Inventor. It would be incredibly helpful if CAD mapping could be extended to include CC files, allowing the description and other attributes to be mapped correctly from these files as well. Use Case. the Tenant Admins must have the capability to set visual marking on mandatory Attributes per Item Type and Division. this would allow us to better Communicate to the user what attributes must be checked or filled when they create the item and not at the end when they try to release it in CR. the visual marking could as simple as asterix on the name or a colour of the field. this is especially important for new users and when the System is introduced to new Divisions and departments in the Company and reduces errors. Create a Tenant property that allows users to Check in CAD if item is in a CR and in Development State when properties drawing.create.pdf is also on.    Currently it is not possible to check in CAD when drawing.create.pdf is on and the item is in CR, even though the item is in development state.   It makes no sense to me that updating a drawing is allowed but a translation of that drawing is not allowed. Remove Lock from an Item functions must be granted to elevated Managers in the system and not just Tenant Admins. this makes it easier for Manager to handle such issues without interferences of Tenant admins. Show More

Often times a CR has to be canceled because of limitation on adding files or checking in CAD when items are in a CR. This causes users to have to cancel CRs. If CRs have to be recreated the process of copying many items into a CR is time consuming when a CR has many end items not within the same BOMs.   A feature that could copy the items from a canceled CR to a new CR would help. The feature would use the latest working versions of the items copied.  If Upchain would allow files to be added by non admin, we probably would not need this feature as much.  Show More

Hi, During working with documents in Upchain I figure out that there is an option to add some comments at the end of approving workflow. Issue: Upon project delivery, our customers require documentation contain some PDF and STEP files. Upchain does not support a solution, other than a very manual heavy operation of extraction all the information from Upchain, hence high risk of errors.    The general feature we are looking for is an additional option to limit the bulk export to selected filed.    3 options could solve the issue:  a) eBOM attributes: In the Bulk export eBOM export options, an addition line with check boxes of the available e-BOM attributes. Only files that have a "OK" value in the selected e-BOM attribute are exported.    b) cBOM attribute “Customer documentation”: In the CAD plug in next to recommended "recommended spare part" there is added a check box named "costumer documentation"  During eBOM or cBOM Bulk export it is possible to select "spare part" or "costumer documentation" and only the files from the item that meet the selected requirement.   c) Advanced search: In the Bulk export eBOM export options there is an “advanced search” possibility to filter items in the bulk export for the selected item. the item types that is required.  Show More

Use Case. When clicking on a part in SolidWorks, the part is highlighted and displayed in the feature tree. In the cBom plug-in, the selected part is not selected and must be searched for by scrolling. Since the part numbers are not identical in SolidWorks and Upchain PlugIn, searching for a part is very tedious Job. having large Assemblies with big cBOM trees this is a time consuming Job and  prone to errors. currently only the Item view is changed and highlighted but not the position in the cBOM. this is needed to find in what cBOM/eBOM position the item is located and to better work on the Assembly. the same goes for. selecting in cBOM.  If a part is clicked in the cBom plug-in, it is not displayed and selected in the SolidWorks feature tree. this is needed to easier work on the Cad File and edit it in context. this feature would also help when editing multiple items in the cBOM. the user can click on the checked out item and it must be highlighted and selected in the feature tree. Currently the where Used eBOM Tab is showing the eBOM As Saved. the where Used Project Tab the eBOM in Effective Date. this is confusing for users. The Upchain Webapp UI experiences jittering issues when zooming in or out using the Chrome browser on 2K or 4K resolution monitors. This issue needs to be addressed to ensure a smooth user experience. The webapp should fully support higher resolution monitors and allow users to zoom in the browser tab according to their preference. It is disappointing that a modern web-based UI does not officially support 2K or 4K resolutions and is limited to 1080p monitors. This issue was highlighted in support case 22708974. We have recently noticed the maintenance update notifications appearing in the upper ribbon of the Webapp. This method effectively informs users about upcoming updates and outages in Upchain. We would like to request the ability to push these updates through an API. This feature would enable us Admins to notify our Upchain users about any outages or maintenance activities that might impact their use of Upchain.   For example, if the integration between upchain and our ERP system is down, we would like to use this service to notify the users that CNs shouldn't be created until the issue is resolved. This capability would allow us to provide real-time updates on service status, informing users when the service is down and when it is back online, so they can resume creating CNs. Sometimes users have to remove existing CAD file and attach file with different file name.    As long as its the same file name, Upchain is identifying the obsolete versions and recommending user to update to  non obsolete version. When associated CAD file is changed Upchain is unable to recommend user to update to latest non obsolete version.   Usually purchased parts CAD files get changed and having the feature extend to include this use case will greatly increase user efficiency.        Show More

Mass Attribute must be dynamic populated from the CAD system using an API call and the information must be with and Unit of Measure. The currant field "Mass (g)" is not dynamically linked to an attribute in CAD and has no UOM(ie., the field is useless). the link to a custom attribute in CAD results in the field been populated with what ever UOM the user has chosen on time of saving/checking the item to Upchain. this could be Gram Kilogram or Pound. But if it's not dynamically linked to the calculated mass of a part or assembly, it's going to be wrong more often than not and is causing issue. Use Case.
