Could it be possible to import a .DWG model into ReCap, also to see in the Realview mode. This would improve routing pipe using plant 3D greatly. The AutoCAD software is nice to route in in parallel view but you cannot see the collisions well. A second screen in Perspective view with the model in it would be useful. I use Navisworks now to check for collisions in the point cloud. However ReCap is working much smoother and easier with the possibility for Realview. Greetings Jasper.

I would like to filter classified point cloud data in Recap so that a point cloud containing only ground data can be brought into C3D. C3D's filter method would be sufficient if the data is not classified but is not desirable when the data can be filtered. This was possible in C3D 2017 but with updates to software that functionality has gone away and we need a better way to filter the point cloud data. There is as way using "MAPCREATEPCSURFACE" to filter the data and create a DEM file to create a surface but when I do that the surface doesn't lay on the DEM which is frustrating. The "MAPCREATEPCSURFACE" work around adds another step to the workflow when it should be an included function.

XYZ coordinates display is visible in the Recap local software but not visible in the cloud model. It will be helpful to add that feature into the cloud base model . I believe this will help user (surveyors or site designer) with real-world coordinate system in their point cloud to still see and use/ examine views in the cloud base model.

It's usefull to generate planes in the workspace and use these planes to generate High resolution Orthopotos in .Tiff or .Jpg format.

LiDAR data usually come with vegetation and trees. It will be great for ReCap to be able to remove the (as noise) and only show the actual ground surface.

We should be able to extract the panoramic photo directly inside Recap instead of using a competitor software (ex. Faro Scene). The reason is that sometimes we just need to visualise the photo taken from the scanner but we don't need or can't install the Recap software so we extract the photos and make them available in IE or Chrome browser.

Every time I load Recap I have to change my settings from Meters to MM. I want to save my initial settings!!!!

Having the ability to toggle between intensity (grey scale and colored) and RGB during the registration stage would be excellent. There are times when the RGB imagery is overexposed or underexposed due to poor lighting, making it impossible to pick points for registration. The intensity view always works, so it would be great to have this option. Kevin

It would be great if a limit box can be defined around a point, similar to how Navisworks can create a limit/section box around a selected item. In the current workflow you have to start at the point clouds extents and refine your limit box down to the right size. This causes confusion and frustration having to find/re-find your area of interest. It would be great if we could navigate in the point cloud, find an area of interest, select "Limit Box around point", select the point we want the limit box created around (perhaps 10'x10'x10'), and then we can refine the limit box from there.

Examples are Building, high vegetation, ground etc. Civil3D allows you to change point coud stye to view point cloud classifications. However, Recap can't see classifications at all. It'd be great if Recap could see the classificaitons as another view type similar to RGB, Elevation etc. And then it'd be great if you could filter based on the classification as well, so you could extract just the ground, or the building points. It would be great - scratch that - It is essential to be able to view the side by side registration images in intensity colours not just RGB. Currently if you toggle between RGB and Intensity, Recap changes the RGB imagery to a greyscale version of the RGB picture!!!! Not the intensity view that the scanner captures. Seeing as Recap must use the intensity points in the background to find the checkerboards and spheres, why can't we also see it. The intensity view is important as most scanners record the 3D points and intensity first then take the colour imagery to colour the cloud, between this this can change for example measuring on a busy street. When picking checkerboards and spheres in RGB (or even the greyscale version of RGB) just because you can see the checkerboard does not mean that the checkerboard was not obscured during initial measurement. This is a fairly fundamental issue that needs rectifying.

In typical workflows, ReCap is used to communicate information about a space to other members of the team. This is often done my emailing them screen captures of the point cloud inside of ReCap. It would be of great utility to be able to export the current view or a saved View State as an image and be able to specify the resolution. This would also allow for the creation of scaled orthoimages. The user interface could be achieved by right-clicking on a saved View State and choosing a “Export to Image” option.

It would be great to add a menu when creating a new project to be able to specify the import units. As it stands right now when importing a .pts file from Cyclone(exported in US ft), Recap still labels the coords as meters even thought the RECAP file initially was set to US ft. Then when referencing into Civil 3D the Recap file does not need to be scaled from meters to feet. The fact this issue has not been corrected since the beginning of Recap is mind boggling.

It would be nice if we could more easily create an accurate topographic surface in Revit from a linked ReCAP file. Even if it just being able to export a TXT or CSV file from ReCAP of a scan region or an edited cloud. I find it is much easier to manipulate and edit the point cloud in ReCAP than some other native registration softwares.

Hi, I've been testing Recap trial version and couldn't find a way to calculate volumes, but I thought I would suggest the addition of that module. For reference, maybe you should look at Global Mapper and the way they measure stockpiles. So far to me seems to be the best tool to calculate stockpiles (it can calculate and report volumes of stockpiles individually). Thought I would make this suggestion as this could make Recap (or Remake) powerful to deliver simple results calculations. This would be a great addition to its current capabilities to visualize and clean cloud points of surveys. Thanks, Alberto Ramos

Utilizing various parameters, Global Mapper has the ability to auto-classify ground/non-ground, vegetation, noise, etc points within a point cloud. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but unless the data is already Lidar/classified, Autodesk doesn't appear to be able to do this for drone survey point cloud data. Thank you

I would like to have the ability to change the background color. The current dark grey can make it difficult when viewing the point cloud in b&w intinsity.
