I'm afraid this is yet another order of operations complaint regarding the thread feature. We typically turn our parts before cutting threads; not vice versa.   Threads do not show up correctly in the drawing unless they are cut prior to any undercutting geometery (e.g. a lead-in chamfer). This is due to the fact that the maximum extent of a thread feature is defined solely by the selected face unless a truncated length is given.   I'd like the ability to select a face or work plane to define the terminations of a thread feature. Or instead; be allowed to specify a negative offset to define the start of the threads, and use another offset to end them.   Anything that would allow me to tell Inventor where the tool will be cutting beyond a single face would be appreciated as it would allow me to create a feature tree that reflects my shop's operations, and a drawing that reflects the final part. Hi, Often with the error messages I find the information useful and like to leave them turned on. I do not like having to clear the box every time I recieve one. for example when a sketch would be over constrained or already exists. Would it be possible to add a new option to the various prompts to have them come up as a popup message like the save reminder rather than have them require a user response to clear? Show More

we  have 4 wish list:      1, Our material information not only include material trademark,bur also include material standard,specification  and  condition.We assumed that these properties are filled in the description,the manufacturer, the note.But the properties ,which are filled in the description,the manufacurer,cannot be extracted to be called by ilogic,iproperty,title bar and excel.            2, We want to measure of  the diameter of the ball directly,instead of creating the cuxiliary line to the sphere,and measuing  the length of the line.          3, I can only adjust the size of the entire symbol in the blue box in following picture,but cannot adjust  the line width in the red box in the following picture.                4, Crossing  components projection will automatically  generate adaptive parts and features , it  is easy to cause the reference cycle  and  other errors. Hello, it's me Stanley once more. I had another interesting idea that would be very useful. It would be great if you could select and align vertices, edges and polys with other vertices, edges, and polys on a fixed axis. For example, the user selects a vertex, edge, or poly and selects the vertex, edge or poly he or she wants to align it with on a fixed axis. The function automatically aligns either using the viewport’s axis or the user can choose which axis, maybe on a menu, they want to use to align the vertex, edge, or poly with.  Another example can be selecting a poly and selecting another poly above it in which you want to align it with. Using the top viewport, you select the function and the poly automatically aligns directly above the previously selected poly.    Adding more detail into perspective, I've included two images attached to this post. What if you were working on a 3D model and you had a situation where it looked like the "before" image attached to this post. Notice all the vertices are out of place. Wouldn't it be great to have a function where all your vertices automatically align like in the "after" image also attached to this post? I'm sure many people would benefit having this function by saving time and energy not having to move ever individual vertex.    Show More

iPart Refresh for Library Components (my title for this functionality) I routinely put standard parts into libraries, including iPart factories. They're a pain to update in that situation.   Scenario In Inventor ActiveSession1, with standard project active. 1. Create an iPart with 5 members and save it into a library folder (library in the sense of the project file) 2. Start a new assembly. 3. Place one of the iPart members in an assembly.   Start Inventor ActiveSession2, with project "Edit Libs" active. 1. Edit the iPart factory. (Note: because it is a library part it is not possible to edit it in the same session as the assembly due to the "library" association. 2. Add a new member. 3. Save factory part. I get the edit in a different session not in the same notion. It's the lack of an update ability that is painful.   In ActiveSession1... 1. Expand iPart member node in browser, right-click Change Component. 2. Look at Table view. New member does not show up. Even if I update, save, rebuild all, it doesn't add the new member to the list.   I have to save and exit the assembly, then reopen it to have access to the updated library. This gets heinous if you are working in a subassembly three-to-four levels deep. Now you have to save all of them, close them, then reopen them to have the new ipart member available.   At least that is my experience. If I'm approaching this wrong... let me know! Show More

Allow custom part numbering schemes within IV that could stand on their own or work with Vault that would not only allow a standard part number scheme but would allow part creation to combine schemes!   Example, we use a very simple part numbering scheme that looks like this 14-09-001,      Year-(14)   Month-(09)   Next Consecutive Number-(001) This is what all weldments, assemblies or single parts get, however, if we create weldments they include a dash number to define to weldment components.   Example:     14-09-001    14-09-001-01    14-09-001-02    14-09-001-10    14-09-001-100  and so on   It would be nice for Inventor or Vault to allow you to define a number scheme for certain parts but then apply a second scheme to other parts.   Show More

When using the draft tool selecting the face to draft the fixed edge should highlight in a colour, however because of the prehighlight of the selection it does not show unless a wireframe view is used (and only just even then) it would be good to have the fixed edge highlight on top see my examples below     Below is how inventor currently looks with shaded view Below is how it looks using wireframe you can just makeout the purple line indicating the fixed edge Below is a very rough idea of how i think it should look, this will make using the fixed edge draft tool much more straight forward and easier for new users Show More

I find myself placing bosses with respect to center-point sketches and having to place the ribs manually using the RIB function and more sketches in parts that would require a boss with non-symmetric ribs and that assembly needs to be mirrored horizontally and/or vertically about symmetric axis'. The BOSS command would benefit from lines of symmetry settings/select like the FORM command.  Creating one boss with ribs and mirror them seldom works correctly. Show More

Now we have 100/1000/1000 different parts within a project, thus 100/1000/1000 files to be generated. Just like tekla does, 1 file, everything inside, no need to save my files again and again. This could be easier to rename parts, etc... and i guess a lot faster to load! When you want to place a part of an other assembly in the main assembly, you click the file, it shows al the parts in it and you can select the part you need. Curious if other people share the same opinion, or why we shouldn't do that. Show More
