How to tell if Inventor is using the dedicated GPU?

I'm using Inventor Professional 2014. This is work related so I need a solution.

System specs;

Intel Core i7-6700 @ 3.40 GHz
32GB RAM
AMD FirePro W5100 4GB GPU

Windows 7 64-bit.

All the latest drivers have been installed (machine is brand new, < 3 months old)

test 2 gpu.JPG

When using the AMD system monitor, it shows the CPU fluctuating, as normal, but the graphics adaptor appears to not be doing anything.

I have tried all the different options in Inventors 'Application Options - Hardware' section, yet I cannot get the GPU graph to show activity.
I'm aware that this is just a monitor, and may not be showing what is truly happening. My system admin is stumped also, hence this post.

The GPU is enabled, and has passed all diagnostic tests that I can run.

Any help would be welcome.

On boot-up I have entered boot options, and tried all 3 options, Auto, Intel HD Graphics, ATI Radeon. No change.

Thanks

I believe there is normally an option in the graphics drivers allowing you to choose which gpu is used for different programs. There are multiple threads about this already and you should be able to search for them and get more details.

Disable the other one via device manager and never look back..

mcgyvr is exactly right.

You can either set the default graphics card on right-click or you can disable the onboard card altogether.  That is what I would also recommend:

Good Luck!

In Inventor you can go to Tools, Application Options & go to the Hardware tab. At the bottom of that you can run Diagnostics & then past the info into a text file. In there it will tell you which graphics system is being leveraged.
