AutoCAD Installation Error; "Aborted.(Error: 9)"

I'm having trouble installing AutoCAD 2014 ...

After proceeding with the download, the loading task bar fails when it reaches 98% with the report, "Aborted. (Error 9)."

This is the first time I've had trouble downloading anything from Autodesk. If anyone has advice, I would greatly appreciate any correspondence. Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. What exactly happens when you try to run it? Could you be more specific? Have you tried running as the administrator?

Review the information I have below the line/above my signature and follow those steps to download and install your application. Good luck with the installation.   Make sure you review the solution that was posted on May 9th that includes a path to the software that @Darin.Green and @TravisNave created,

True story.  If you are having problems downloading your 2017 software from your Autodesk Accounts page or from the Trial version, then please see this list of downloads provided here:

Welcome to the community...

Download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent (link is in my signature) and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

If you want the full recommended installation steps, click on the installation link in my signature.

Good luck on your installation.

Can AutoCAD student version be downloaded in Windows 10?

Message 89 of 100

@maddyddevil

Welcome to the community..

In the future I would suggest that you create you're own posting and don't hi-jack a posting that has nothing to do with your question/issue.  Smiley Wink

Yes student versions can be downloaded and installed on Windows 10.  However only certain versions are supported by Win 10 and I would recommend looking at the system requirements for the given Autodesk product.  Which Autodesk product and version are you considering?  Also keep in mind although Autodesk doesn't support certain products/version in Windows 10 doesn't mean it will not work.  Some people have no problems and others do.  Smiley Wink

When you are ready to download, use the Autodesk Virtual Agent method..  Link to it is in my signature below.

Is it necessary to disable the anti-virus to be able to download the product?

@PLHDmain

Welcome to the community..

Its recommended, certain anti-virus interface will impact it.

But always download using the Autodesk Virtual Agent (link in my signature) and don't download using your Autodesk Account.  However products like Simulation and a couple of others are not on the Virtual Agent and you must download using your Autodesk Account.

Also, when you go to http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/autocad

sign in > choose version > install > then run it. It will run smooth so long as you have sufficient hdd space. If you save installer and then run it will not work, at least in my case. I think that breaks the connection to the virtual agent somehow. Hope this helps.

What?  Install now through your Autodesk Account has nothing to do with the virtual agent or breaks the connection to the Virtual Agent.

For those who are monitoring this posting, do not use the install now method.  Just go to the Autodesk Virtual Agent for your common Autodesk Products..  Smiley Wink

Hello @Anonymous,

I can assume you are downloading via the Virtual Agent. In that case please make sure you have a good connection to the internet.

Also, please make sure you are reviewing this information to temporary disable software protections preventing you from downloading your product.

You may need Systems Administrator permissions to make changes to the settings below.

Windows Firewall Issues

Locate > Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall\Customize Settings

Check the Internet Explorer connection settings

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools > Options.
  3. Access the Connections tab.
  4. Click LAN Settings. They should look like this:
  User-added image
  1. Click OK.
  2. Launch the product and test to make sure you can establish an Internet connection.

Run as Administrator

I hope this answered your question or resolved the issue, if so please click

Kudos or the "thumbs-up!" icon.
