AutoCAD 2017 not installing on WIndows 10

Hello, I am trying to install my student edition of AutoCAD 2017 on my Windows 10 laptop.

I have attempted to install AutoCAD 2017 several times now, with no success. The installation always fails to install the AutoCAD 2017 file, which causes the other associated downloads to fail as well.

I have already ensured that my system meets the program requirements and that I have the current version of Windows 10 as advised by the troubleshooting list.

I would appreciate it if you could offer your advice on this. Thank you!

Without the installation log file, it is tough to tell, but I speculate that it is a download problem.  I would recommend that you try downloading your product using the virtual assistant by following the directions here:

I've tried copying and pasting the installation log file, but it exceeded the character limit, so I can't provide that unfortunately. I do think you're right in saying it's a download problem though.

I've also followed the method above and downloaded part 1 and part 2 of the AutoCAD 2017 program. I have them now, but I'm not sure what to do with them.

Accepted solution

Just run the first download and it will self-extract into the C:\Autodesk folder and then you can run setup from there.  As always, make sure you have local admin rights, UAC disabled, and anti-virus temporarily turned off.

If you need to supply the installation log, you can attach it in the attachment box when you post in the forum.

Good Luck!

Same problem here- tried the eval ( wizard  - but it gets stuck on checking disk space.  -so  not working either  -. When I set up autodesk2017 after recovery with windows 8.1 had no problem. If you suggest this solution - could you point out, as to where to go to initiate set up in the files? ta As I looked through the files - and there is  a whole folder setup  - but exe. file to start set up.

and as so many others - just frustrated as to how long these things take . Can't afford an IT person - and overall its getting worse spending time searching forever for answers. .

I also have the same issue when installing a student edition.

It fails when trying to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008. Since my machine is Windows 10, I already have MVC++ 2015, trying to install the 2008 version separately is not working out, it only extracts and then fails since it's an older version.

Same dependency and installation fails with all autocad versions from 2015-2017. All of them fail on trying to install MVC++ 2008
