First of all its C:\Programdata and not C:\Programfiles  Smiley Very Happy

Do you have access to write to the C:\Programdata folder?  Can you see that directory?

Make sure you have local admin rights.  Verify it in Control Panel because installing some software changes that sometimes.  Then make sure that your UAC is off and your anti-virus is temporarily disabled.

Do not install from media.  Copy the media to a folder on your hard disk and install from there.  Run setup.exe as Administrator.  See if the error persists.

That could happen to anybody....

I can see ProgramData and I can access most of them. I am using the Take Ownership program on them.

Travis (next post) has some good suggestions. I'll give them a try as well.

Thanks for your help and I'll let you if/when/what works.

The files below had no Security permissions. So I gave created user "Everyone" and gave Everyone full permissions. Then the installation went a little farther but I got the same error. After that I looked at the files and they still had the permissions I gave them.

Now I have a partial installation which certainly can not be a good thing.

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\506H1_2016.0.0.F\LGS.data

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\829H1_2016.0.0.F\LGS.data

I am pretty much hosed at this point.

Those sub-folders are for the 2016 version and have no impact on your 2017 installation.  You will not see the 2017 stuff until you launch the product and go through the Lets Get Started dialog.

So....

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS has only me as a user. The files for 201 have not been created yet (obviously). I will creat and give full permission to Everyone for the "LGS" folder and see what happens.

Sooo.....

Basically I have had some kind of event that caused me to not have sufficient rights for just about anything (including Office 365....but that's another long story). So I got Autocad installed by running the install program and adding "Everyone" with full rights to all of the paths that popped up in the error messages.

It was hoot. Anyway it finally worked.

Now if anyone can explain why I might have had my Windows Security settings jacked up on all of my user and ProgramData folders that would be awesome. However I realize that is probably a topic for another forum.

Thanks for your help "Everyone" (get it....everyone...it's a Windows Security joke HA!)

everything except A360 Desktop has downloaded. There was no option to retry so I clicked finish thinking it might lead me on to a retry option, but nothing. Don't know what to do now

Welcome to the community..

What are you trying to download and install?  AutoCAD 2017?

Just download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent (link is in my signature) and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

If you want the full recommended installation steps, click on the installation link in my signature.

Good luck on your installation.
