I am trying to install AutoCAD, Revit, 3DS Max, etc. into a Citrix VDI environment.  This is my first time ever doing something like this, and I need HELP!  I have the list of programs we want installed, but I'm not sure where to start.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @Anonymous,

Please review Autodesk Citrix-Ready certified products documentation & the NLM system requirements for the products you plan to use with this setup first.

If someone in the community has set this up they can give you some guidance but otherwise, you should reach out to Citrix to understand more about how to set this up.

Let us know what you discover.

Please "Accept As Solution" if a reply has helped resolve the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.

What do you need to know? How to go about installing the software? Of how to configure your citrix environment? Installing the software is pretty much straightforward. But depending on your setup, you may need to bootstrap the user profiles to help with load balancing where you're moving users from server to server.

Please ask the right questions because we can go on and on about this...

If this information was helpful, please consider using the Accept Solution

I already checked the Autodesk Citrix-Ready certified products documentation page and that gave me information but not enough to help me get started.

I need to know how to go about installing the Autodesk programs (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) that need licenses with them. We have 5 static Citrix desktops and the rest are random desktops. We are using a Xen App server to publish our office products. I am not sure how to bootstrap user profiles to help with load balancing.

Darin,

how do you go about bootstrapping the user profile, so it doesn’t download every time the user enters a new Citrix session ?

i am working with a university who is investigating Citrix.

thanks

John

Policies for virtualization have changed since this post.  You can virtualize the software now.  This is mostly due to licensing being handled in the cloud, therefore the opportunity for being overlicensed has been resolved for virtual machines.
