I am using acad2010.  Whenever I modify a dimension style, I get this error message "FATAL ERROR: unhandled access violation reading 0x0008 Exception at dbb303d0h".

Thanks for your help.

These kinds of errors are caused either by malware or a problem with your .NET Framework.

.NET Framework issues can be resolved using the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool. More information about this tool can be found at my discussion thread here:

Good Luck!

Well, AutoCAD 2010 is the oldest version that will work with Windows 7. Use the STYLE and DIMSTYLE commands and flush (delete) all the existing styles then create new ones from scratch. PURGE afterwards. You shouldn't have issues anymore.

I autocad2010 by mistake, but it was really 2011 I am using. I was so used to selecting autocad2010 whenever I have to convert some files from another software to autocad.

Anyway, I had .net framework Clean-up tool installed but my computer stopped working so my I had it restored by our IT. I still had the same problem. And yes, I had been doing a lot of purges, and recreating dim styles or renaming them and editing to what I needed them to be. I guess I will go back to that procedure as my only way around this problem.

Thank you though for trying to help me.
