Description: As a design-centric engineering team using Autodesk Vault Professional 2024, we have identified significant usability bottlenecks that hinder daily efficiency. While Vault is functionally powerful, the UI/UX requires modernization to align with PDM best practices (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill). We propose the following improvements: 1. Direct Copy Capability for All Fields Currently, copying item numbers or project identifiers is often blocked or requires tedious workarounds. The Goal: Every text field/property should be selectable and copyable via Ctrl+C by default. Suggestion: Add a "Copy Value" option to the context menu and small clipboard icons next to key fields (Number, Revision, Status). 2. Reducing "Click Depth" and Modal Windows Many standard tasks require excessive click sequences and nested dialogs (e.g., switching detail views or navigating linked objects). The Goal: Flatter UI hierarchy and fewer modal windows. Suggestion: Implement "Quick Actions" for common workflows and show more metadata inline without opening separate windows. 3. Consistent Keyboard Support Navigation and data entry are slowed down by a lack of shortcut support. The Goal: Full support for Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V / Ctrl+F across all views and the ability to navigate properties entirely via keyboard. 4. User-Centric "Expert Mode" For power users, the current interface feels "heavy." Suggestion: An optional "Expert Mode" with reduced visual padding and condensed click sequences for high-frequency tasks. Business Impact: These changes would significantly reduce cognitive load, minimize time loss during ERP synchronization/documentation, and increase overall system acceptance among engineers.
